About Gene and Anita Carter

The Carter Ranch Vacation Home is run by husband & wife, Gene & Anita Carter & their 2 sons. Gene & our boys are 6th & 7th generation heritage in Paradise Valley. I (Anita) am Australian & therefore have only spent 12 years in the valley. We're now into our 2nd year of offering this family home as a vacation rental & we have had some really nice people rent with us.

The Carter family used to run Bison here on the ranch up until a few years ago. Now we have our horses here & only a few head of cattle at another place. Primarily we farm Alfalfa, Timothy hay, which we cut & bale twice a year through the summer.

Our rental house is close to our main house here at the ranch, so you may see us around moving horses, irrigating fields, hanging out with our 4 Australian Cattle Dogs & 2 Mini Schnauzers or the boys will be outside doing what boys do best.

We look forward to meeting whomever decides to rent with us & wish everybody fun & safe travels.

Why Gene and Anita Carter chose Yellowstone Country

This vacation home sits on a working family ranch which has been passed down through generations. Not only does this property boast the beauty of Paradise Valley & views of the Absoroka Mountain Ranges, but it has unlimited access to the Yellowstone River only moments away, Yellowstone National Park, Relaxing at Chico Hot Springs, Historic downtown Livingston & numerous hiking & biking trails. There is definitely something for every interest

What makes this house unique

Our vacation home definitely provides tranquility & peace with it's rural setting, a pond running through the corner of the house yard, green open fields & domestic & wild animals grazing the pastures & mountain views.

Great VRBO

  • 5 of 5

It was the perfect get away short stay in a lovely home in a beautiful setting. The house/area were just as the VRBO site indicated. The owners were available if needed. It was great fun to watch some the ranch happenings. It was entertaining to watch the oldest son ride his bike around the horse pasture!

This will definitely be a return stay next year.

Great house in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying at the Carter Ranch guest house. House was very comfortable & super clean. The house is very centrally located to lots of great outdoor activities in the Paradise Valley. The owners are super nice, and it's fun to be staying right there on their ranch. We look forward to returning when we have another opportunity.

Great Location Nice Cozy house

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house very much. It was nice and cozy with all the amenities. Owners live right across and were always available. We stayed for almost a week and enjoyed every day of it. It was nice location for Yellowstone park( ~ 45 min away) . The house is surrounded by nature. River is closeby for evening walk. We also enjoyed the horses and outdoor setup in evening.

Loved the place

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was wonderful!!! The house was well maintained and clean kitchen is well equipped, great to cook in. Bring your own knives. The property was beautiful, quiet and easy to find. Being close to Yellowstone, Livingston and Bozeman day trips are easy to do. The owners were right on the property so when we had questions they were right there to help us. We will definitely come back to stay.

Peaceful, beautiful and located near a live music venue!

  • 5 of 5

A group of us stayed here for a week while traveling for work. This was the perfect place to come back to after working long days. We were all up extra early to enjoy coffee on the deck and watch the birds and wildlife wake up. In the evenings, we'd go sit by the creek and watch the sunset. The beds were comfy and everything was very clean. The large, well-stocked kitchen was great for making our own dinners. If you need it, there is also a fully functioning laundry room with washer and dryer. The Pine Creek area is an absolute gem and this vacation property did not disappoint! I was familiar with the Pine Creek Lodge (just across the highway) and did not realize we were so close with this VRBO. Pine Creek Lodge has live music weekly (and a beer garden for those looking to taste some local brews) and we were able to walk over and enjoy that one night. Our co-workers who opted to stay in hotels in Livingston were remorseful that they hadn't opted to go the VRBO route once they saw our peaceful retreat. This is a working ranch and if you want a real Montana experience, this is the place to go!
