Hi, I'm Phil Stapleton and along with my wife, Suzy, (Nous parlons Francais!) welcome you for a stay you will not soon forget. Suzy and I started hosting this fine property in February, 2015.
I have been a local artist for many years and Suzy is a French designer. Suzy has had the distinct privilege of working with notable French designers over her interesting career.
We have expanded our energies to include hosting one of the most beautiful, quiet and exotic places you can find in prestigious S.W. Coconut Grove.
The home was originally built as a cottage for overflow guests who would stayed at the El Dorado Hotel--2 doors down. Many famous patrons have spent nights at the El Dorado, including Dorothy Parker from the New York Algonquin Round Table. Who knows? Pirates, scalawags and scoundrels too......
Enjoy the use of our complimentary retro cruising bicycles---ride within minutes to the heart of downtown, CocoWalk, Dinner Key, Monte's Trainer's, Scotty's Landing (hidden burger gem on the water), fine dining, shopping and entertainment.
Learn to sail at the nearby Coconut Grove Sailing Club
World Famous Fairchild Tropical Gardens is minutes away by bike as well. A must see.
Hang out on the property and see exotic birds, from the ever present peacocks to the often sighted green parrots and the occasional blue and gold Macaws. Hurricane Andrew (1992) released these beautiful parrots back into the wild after destroying the Miami Parrot Jungle.
-Full Chef's Kitchen. Sub Zero and Wolf appliances. Just heat up the griddle.
-Eclectic upscale decor throughout bungalow
-On-site full-size washer and dryer.
-Outdoor BBQ, semi-private pool (only if there are guest(s) in the one other rental on property).
-Miami Beach is minutes away by car.
-World famous Key Biscayne and its white sand beaches await you---10 minutes by car.
-Luxurious mall shopping at The Village of Merrick Park -10 minute car ride
This is a very peaceful street but within walking distance to Coconut Grove. So happy to have found this as my home away from home when I am in Miami.
What a lovely house, very well appointed and beautifully decorated. Downstairs bedroom needs a closet to hang clothing but otherwise every need is well met.
We loved this home and location. The home is clean and well-maintained. The location is perfect... quiet, walking distance (less than one mile) to parks, restaurants and marina on designated walking/riding paths. Awoke one morning to seven peacocks sitting on the neighbors' roof and realized that we weren't in Indiana anymore.
Also, we arrived at nearly 10 PM after missing a flight; Suzy not only cheerfully let us in and showed us around but they shared some of they're own food with us as they'd guessed (correctly) that we hadn't had a chance to eat.
I think we have found our go-to place to stay when we come to Miami.
Kelda and Laurence
Suzy was very helpful and attentive and made our stay very pleasant. The villa is well maintained and has everything you need. My only comment for improvement is to keep the outdoor chaise cushions stored where they don't get wet and then moldy.
We definitely recommend this home and will stay again.
We will return!
I did not stay here, but I lived in this house as a child in the early to mid 1960s. Wow, what a beautiful job the owners have done. Every time I've visited Miami over the years, I'd drive by the home, trying to get the courage up to knock on the door so I could take a peek inside. Wouldn't you know, I found it here and am overwhelmed by the photos. I will never forget "the coral rock house". If I ever have the chance, I'd love to book a vacation here. :)
