This gated 2 Bedroom, 1.5 Bath is fully air conditioned, two story town home offers an open family kitchen and living area that features a naturally lite stairway. The facility is turn key and includes amenities such as washer and dryer, central air condition, wi-fi, 2 Queen sized bedrooms with a roll away, all linens and towels, cable TV, flat screen TV's, coffee maker, microwave, all cooking utensils, glassware, AM/FM Radio Alarm Clocks and back patio. We have just recently installed a pool at the rear of the building to ensure that your stay is relaxing. The pool is shared by the four condos on the premises. On days when you don't feel like going to the beach, you can just go out and relax by the pool with a glass of wine.
I am a native Bahamian and grew up in the heart of Nassau. I went to Queen's College, one of our best private schools. I am currently living in the eastern area in a suburb called Nassau East North. I am married to a wonderful man and have one child and one grand child.
Gayle Hepburn purchased this townhome in 2008
This property is located in one of the most affluent areas of the country. It is surrounded by local restaurants, a small straw market featuring Bahamian made souvenirs, banks/ATM, grocery stores, popular resorts and beaches. It provides a safe and comfortable environment for the family.
One of the features of this property is the sunlit stairway, which allows natural sunlight to permeate the living area lifts the spirits. Children love to sit on the stairway and look out of window.
This place is exactly as advertised except for the fact that the host is even more gracious, hospitable and accommodating than one would expect. VRBO should be required to remove the one negative review as there are details in that review that just could not be true (such as the bit about a neighbor hanging clothes -- there are no clotheslines at any neighboring property). That review really gave us pause, but should not trouble anyone. We did not see any roach or such bug. The bed is a bit soft for my taste, but my wife thought it was perfect, and we both got the best sleep we'd had in months. We had wanted to rent a car, but that did not work out, and it turned out to be a blessing. The condo is a block from the bus stop (great public transit during the day, so this worked out fine). Also, the condo is around the block from a great Chinese restaurant and a bakery; two blocks from some fas food joints, pharmacy, and other shops; three blocks from three sit-down restaurants (two are top rated); four blocks from a grocery store and the beach. Pool was small but clean and well maintained. Major resort is two blocks walk and you can buy a day pass, which is a real treat. The neighborhood is quiet and seemed very safe. Best part though is how nice the host is. They stayed out of our way and gave us plenty of privacy, but also offered to help (beyond any expectation) upon arrival, and when we needed a favor clearly outside their responsibilities, they did not hesitate to help us. Uness you want to pay triple or more for a resort experience, you can't go wrong with this place.
My stay was amazing! It's safe to say it's better in the Bahamas. I rented a car so I was very nervous about getting lost, but it was quite easy. Gayle sent me step by step directions to get to the condo. I must say this definitely made it smooth sailing. Once we arrived to the condo Gayle was there as promised. She gave me a tour of the condo and then showed me the pool. This is were I spent most of my days. Its perfect! I felt like I had a private pool all to myself. The weather weather was amazing and the pool was so inviting! I also went to the beach which was in walking distance so I barely used my rental. The beach was breathtaking:) The sand was so white and the water was so clear. The condo was very clean and I felt right at home. I truly don't want to leave. I'm actually planning on coming back in the summer with my family and we will be calling Gayle to book. My stay was short but sweet! Absolute paradise!
Gayle was at the condo upon our late arrival (since the taxi driver had no idea how to get there) & she was clearly NOT happy. We instantly knew it was time to give her the money & let her get on with her life. Gayle stood there counting her money (AFTER I counted it into hand!) as we waited for her to respond to questions about how to get to the beach & where is the pool, etc.
Once she had her money and went outside she waived to the back in response to our question as to how to get to the pool. Perhaps she didn't want to personally show us in case one of the rats (literally the size of a quart of milk) that lives back there was sunbathing at the time. And its not like being at the pool scared them away - one of them knocked a completely full drink over while we were lounging - a 16 oz cup. We saw three at one time. If that wasn't creepy enough, all I could think about was the rat that ran up to the front gate & what if it could get through the cracks around the front door through which you could see the light of day? The only comfort being the size of the cracks were ONLY an inch wide-I could only hope rats that huge couldn’t squeeze through.
Other pool excitement included the 'bartering' that goes on over the fence with a woman I can only assume is a resident of one of the other units. She kept telling one of her 'customers' to be sure to call her first next time before coming. He was wondering around in the yard on the other side of the fence. One can only imagine the 'goods' being exchanged but we were afraid to do anything but act as though we had no idea they were there.
The kitchen is filthy. Don't even think about looking under the range hood or looking at anything in the kitchen - period. We did not bring any food into this place. The few dishes we used we washed first then microwaved for 2 minutes before actually eating off of or drinking from them. We showered only after I washed the towels that were in the unit first myself.
The beach that's supposed to be so close - doesn't matter much if there is no access to it near the townhouse - perhaps my marks on that would have been higher if Gayle had been cordial enough to give us any direction on how to get there. We had to ask her about keys to the unit - she didn't offer them. Basically this experience goes in the 'live and learn' archive with the hopes we can forget it completely. Will have to be pretty desperate to go through VRBO again.
This two-bedroom rental located only one block from the beautiful and serene Cable Beach was the ideal location for a relaxing beach vacation for two. First of all, Cable Beach was the nicest beach I saw while visiting New Providence Island. It wasn't crowded and small like Junkanoo near Nassau and the cruise ship port. If you're looking for a relaxing and more quiet beach experience, Cable Beach is it.
Second of all, the rental had everything we could have needed. Coffee and coffee maker, two queen-sized bedrooms, with dressers, closets, and windows that opened and looked out over the beautiful trees. There were plenty of fresh bathroom as well as beach towels to use, washer and dryer, working stove and oven so we could make breakfast every morning, cable TV, back patio to sit out on, as well as access to the pool patio which we spent many a mornings at.
The grocery store was only 3 or 4 blocks away, and also within that distance were several different restaurants, pharmacy, post office, and Starbucks. Everything we needed was within walking distance. We took the 10 bus each day right from main road down to Nassau for only $1.50 each way. It was a great way to travel between Cable Beach, the Fish Fry, Junkanoo, and Nassau.
Gayle was there upon arrival and was willing to answer any questions we had. She made our stay enjoyable and relaxing. I would highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a more intimate vacation experience that you can't get a large resort.
I ARRIVE AT THIS PROPERTY ON JULY 23RD 2015 THROUGH AUGUST 6TH 2015, AND MRS. HEPBURN WAS THERE TO WELCOME ME WITH HER HANDSOME GRANDSON. THE WELCOME WAS VERY WARM AND SHE SHOWED ME AROUND THE TOWN HOUSE. WHAT WAS A PLUS PLUS FOR ME IS WHEN MRS. HEPBURN TOLD ME THERE WAS A POOL AT THE BACK OF THE HOUSE LOL BECAUSE WHEN I FIRST INQUIRED ABOUT RENTING THE PROPERTY I ASKED HER WAS THERE A POOL AND SHE TOLD ME NO BUT I STILL WANTED TO RENT THE PLACE JUST FROM THE PICTURES, HOWEVER WHEN I REACHED SHE ANNOUNCED THAT THERE WAS A POOL. I GUESS SHE DID NOT WANT ME TO KNOW THAT IT WAS BEING BUILT NOT KNOWING IF IT WOULD BE READY FOR THE KIDS AND I TO USE. LUCKY ME IT WAS COMPLETED THE WEEK BEFORE I ARRIVED. A BRAND NEW POOL. WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PICTURES IS EXACTLY THE WAY IT IS NO GIMMICKS. THE HOUSE IS VERY CLEAN, AND IT IS NOT HARD TO KEEP IT THAT WAY. THE WASHING MACHINE AND DRYER WILL HAVE YOUR LAUNDRY DONE IN NO TIME SO YOU ARE ABLE TO ENJOY MORE OF YOUR VACATION AND SEE MANY PLACES. I ENJOYED IT SO MUCH THAT I TOLD MRS. HEPBURN I WOULD LOVE TO RENT THE PROPERTY AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. THANK YOU MR. AND MRS. HEPBURN FOR BEING SUCH GOOD HOSTS.
I stayed at this town home for a week with my family. From beginning to end my stay was smooth and awesome. The landlord gave us a welcome package and was there for every question we had. The town home is spotless. The beds are comfortable and the location is superb. It's literally walking distance from the resorts, restaurants and beaches. I will recommend this to all my friends and family and have already started planning my second trip. Home away from home!!!
Island Palm West is located within 5 minutes walking distance from an all inclusive resort which day and evening passes can be obtained. Offering a vast variety of water sports, spa treatments and night life.
