About Rich and Sandy Brannin

We built this as a vacation home for our family of five and planned to try and maximize the space for groups. Knowing grandparents, friends, etc would travel with us we made sure each bedroom had its private bath. We loved the area so much that we moved here ourselves in 2012 from WV. Kure beach is a family friendly area and we have felt like it was a safe place for our kids to vacation, play and grow.

Rich and Sandy Brannin purchased this house in 2007

Why Rich and Sandy Brannin chose Southern Coast

The location is great. We have enjoyed being a block off the beach and off the main road. The kids can play outside without too much worry and it is quiet. The house provides all the basic needs with some luxuries such as bikes, beach chairs, tent and beach toys to limit your packing. With its proximity to the pier, aquarium, Ft Fisher and Carolina Beach boardwalk there is always something to do.

This property was perfect for a family stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at Kure Beach. My daughters and their families met us in North Carolina with their children. Our 4 grandchildren range in age from 6 to 10, and all shared the one bedroom. Some of the best things about the rental were the attached bathrooms to each bedroom, a well stocked kitchen, location so close to the beach access, and the numerous beach and game equipment stored there. We left our sunbrella to add to the collection. We took advantage of the nearby North Carolina aquarium, and the Carolina Beach Thursday night fireworks and carnival rides. I particularly like this particular beach for a family stay.

Great Getaway, Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Everything was exactly as presented...description, photos, etc. Very close walk to the beach, awesome house with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and a well-stocked kitchen. We spent a very relaxing week close to everything we wanted to be near. Loved being so near to the ferry to Southport. We would definitely stay here again when we travel to this area.

Perfect Vacation July 2-9, 2016

  • 5 of 5

The home was beautiful and beyond out expectations. Our family spent time at the beach, grilled out, and took walks around the area. Our teenagers continued their daily routine of training for cross country by running all they to the pier and the museum. Our little ones loved playing in the sand. My husband spent a day of fishing on a charter boat while I relaxed and made comfort foods. I recommend you stay at this home cause its spacious, beautiful and a block away from every thing you'll need. We can't wait to return next year.

Super location for family by the beach

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I found this home to be just what we had in mind for our week vacation: a central location for visiting family of all ages. Despite the steep stairs in the home that our toddler braved well, it was a perfect fit for everyone, and we loved having bathrooms for each bedroom. The house is spacious and has all the essentials (tip for all vacationers: if you plan to cook, bring your own knife and sauté pan). Biggest hits were spending time on the two porches for the ever present afternoon breeze, even on blazing hot days, and riding bikes between Carolina Beach and Kure.

The beach is well maintained and pretty, but I would caution families with young kids that the shoreline drops sharply and makes for strong waves. Not the fault of the home owner, of course, but this entire set-up would be a better fit for older kids.

Overall, we really enjoyed the house and the location. Our son is officially an amusement park junkie at two and a half years old - the Carolina Beach rides were a huge hit for him. Find some great healthy snacks at The Veggie Truck up the street, and amazing coffee drinks at the cafe right across from the Carolina Beach Boardwalk. Downtown Wilmington is a great day trip, too, with lots of dining options.

Thank you for offering this home for us to enjoy!

Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

This house was great for my whole family. We loved the amenities included: the grill, the firepit, the beach toys/carts/tent, sand flea rake, etc. Just a very short walk to the beach, which was never too over crowded. We went fishing with Captain Andre at Feel good Fishing, I would highly recommend. The ferry from southport to oak island was a cool thing to do with the whole bunch as well. Lots of restaurants to visit right in the near vicinity. Thanks!

Our stay was great. The house is just a short walk from the beach. The owners provided plenty of beach items (chairs, toys, tent, cart, boogie board), decreasing what you need to bring with you. There is also an outdoor shower, complete with warm water. The house was clean and linens and towels are provided. The kitchen had a variety of utensils, pots, pans, and other items you would need. The Kure Beach area is great for families. The home was spacious and there was plenty of space for everyone to eat if you utilize both the indoor and outdoor spaces. The owners responded to one issue we had that very day and were quick to respond to all questions we had prior to the trip.

Conveniently located not only to the beach but to the NC Aquarium, Ft. Fisher, and Southport via the ferry. The street has little car traffic and plenty of parking and room for kids to play. Pier is just down the street and plenty of activities for adults and kids from fishing, surfing, GEO cashing, paddle boarding, etc. Fire pit, grill, cooler, beach cart, beach chairs, tent and toys on site for your use. Historic downtown Wilmington is a short drive with great food and shops. Movie night at the lake is a must with kids and the Carnival and Board walk at Carolina beach is a joy for all.
