Awesome Spot!

  • 5 of 5

I spent a week here for a kayak & fishing trip. The weather was windy and stormy for a few days but the property was fantastic, and I had a great time fishing & kayaking Nelson Bay. There are lots of great places & small towns to explore in the area and the house has everything a family would need to enjoy a vacation...well-stocked kitchen with all necessary utensils, plenty of sleeping room, towels & linens, great shower & bathroom (and even an outdoor shower), washer & dryer, good cable tv/internet/wi-fi, and central air conditioning & heating. John is great to work with and promptly answers any and all questions you may have. He notified me on the way down to the property that the washer was not working, but it was fixed promptly the very next day. The house is also well-stocked with outdoor chairs, fishing rods, kayaks, two bicycles, and paddleboards to enjoy. Just be sure to bring your groceries, and also some good bug spray for the few times when the wind dies down or brings the biting bugs around. Thanks for sharing your house John!

Most enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

This was a most enjoyable time for our family and I know we will surely be back here again. The seclusion of the place we enjoyed the most and having the whole beach area to ourselves to walk, paddle board, kayak and fishing was super. We were within 45 minutes of other areas to see if we wanted so we just wondered around the outer banks area every other day and took my grandkids on a fishing adventure with Captain Stacy's for a day. The place itself was very sufficient and the owner was available for us if we needed. Thank you for sharing it with us and we will be back again.

Perfect stay and can't wait until we can go back!

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed a week at Windswept and it was wonderfully serene!! The house is very well-appointed and has everything that you could need and more (including kayaks, SUP's, and crab pots). It is like having your own, private stretch of beach and being in an episode of National Georgraphic - so much pristine beauty and nature on that area of the Sound. The location is private and secluded; we didn't see anyone except the occasional passing car or boat, but you are not totally isolated because you are somewhat in a neighborhood and you are less than 5 minutes from a Dollar General store and 20 minutes from a grocery store, if there's anything you forgot to bring. John was super responsive and very accommodating. I can't say enough about our experience, except that you should go!

LOVE everything about Windswept!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I visited John's beautiful home - Windswept - and we truly fell in love with everything about the home and the region. The home has amazing views of the ocean - especially front the upstairs bedroom - I awoke to the most beautiful sunrises over the ocean and fell asleep to a sky full of stars. The property is very private - you have a piece of paradise and a sandy white beach all to yourself. There's an amazing boardwalk that you walk over the marsh over to the sandy beack - it's amazing! It's just what we were looking for! The home has everything you could want and more - it's super comfortable, well decorated and quality throughout. John takes the time to provide all the amenities (kayaks, bikes, beach chairs, fishing poles, cooler, great internet) and is always available if you have any questions at all. He made our stay perfect. Beaufort is a very cool, thriving little town (about 25 min drive) - great restaurants, ice cream and boutique shops - all on the waterfront. Great to walk around and relax. We bought local fresh seafood and grilled at home, local shrimp, red snapper - so delicious. There are ferries you can take to islands and have daily excursions, there are lots of places to see and things to do. Wild horses on the beach, dolphins flipping in the ocean. Truly spectacular. This is a place for everyone to love - families with kids, couples looking for a get away, dogs that want to run on the beach and play in the water - it has it all!! Plus everyone is so incredible nice. We are already looking to visit again!

Rustic Chic

  • 5 of 5

Love this house. Very quiet. Very private. Has everything you could ask for. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable, nice size family room. Amazing views from every window. Sandy beaches, which are rare in this area, provides a nice swimming area for the kids. (they will need water shoes for random shells in the water) Incredible sunsets. If you love the water and want to be secluded, this is the house for you. We were able to catch shrimp right off the end of the dock. John provides two kayaks, two paddle boards, two bikes and a couple crab pots. Only thing you need are food and clothes. There is a new Dollar General up the street so it is not as far from basic essentials as it use to be. Only two minor negatives. Bring plenty of mosquito spray. They can be bad near the house due to the marsh and depending on the wind direction. If you bring a boat longer than 20 feet, it is tricky getting in the drive. We have a 24 foot Carolina Skiff and it took a couple of tries to get in the drive. So pack your bathing suit, some sun lotion and leave your stress behind. It's all good downeast @ windswept.
