About Jeffrey and Patricia Martin

We are a family living in Gloucester Massachusetts who loves vacationing on the Islands of Lake Winnipesaukee and decided to purchase our own Island property. Since we can't be there all of the time, we have decided to share our little piece of paradise with others who would like to experience the tranquility of island life on the lake.

Jeffrey and Patricia Martin purchased this house in 2014

Why Jeffrey and Patricia Martin chose Lake Winnipesaukee

We fell in love with this home as soon as we saw it! It has a retreat-like feel that we hope you will find as peaceful and rejuvenating as we have. Listening to the loons at night will serenade you to sleep. Enjoy time on the swim raft that is within yards of the loon nesting area where you will see them feeding and frolicking with their families. Bald eagles nest on the island adjacent to ours and provide a daily opportunity to catch a glimpse of these beautiful birds. Being in a no wake zone makes for perfect swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding without boat traffic and waves.

What makes this house unique

A favorite amenity is the large screened in porch. it is so beautiful but especially early morning with your first cup of coffee as the day awakens or late at night with a cocktail in hand listening to the lake fall asleep.

Mink Island.....our favorite vacation spot!!!

  • 5 of 5

Hands down, we love to vacation here!!! This is our second summer renting this cottage on Mink Island! My husband spent his summers growing up on Mink Island and by far feels this is the best spot on the lake. We love to play wiffle ball in the front yard and watch the ducks swim under the dock! We love to kayak around the cove and island. The water is always calm in the channel between Mark and Mink Island. We enjoy water skiing, tubing and boat rides to the Wolfboro dock! We love to grill and watch the beautiful sunsets. The cottage works perfect for our family. It is very clean and comfortable. We can even grab a Red Sox game on the tv in the evening, play cards, or roast marshmallows in the firepit! We would recommend the Martin's cottage for families looking for some quality time in the most beautiful setting on the lake!

The best spot on the whole lake...maybe the world.

  • 5 of 5

Just incredible. What a spot for a relaxing family friendly vacation. Waded into the warm waters everyday from the private beach. Played volleyball in the spacious yard. Cooked every meal in the well stocked kitchen. Ate meals on the big picnic table. Played games and read in the screened in porch. Showered in the outdoor shower! Slept comfortably in the cozy beds.

It was the best family vacation that we've ever shared. I wish we never had to leave...

Amazing! Jeff and Patricia thought of everything!

  • 5 of 5

This was my family's tenth year staying at Winni and first on an island property, so we were unsure how it would go. To our delight, it was amazing! The beach is sandy, water is calm, yard is flat, and the house is perfect. All the little details that you may forget when packing are there - linens, sharp knives, serving dishes....the list goes on. A perfect house for a quiet retreat.

Great place for the family get-a-way!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time on Mink Island and Jeff has really made the house very family friendly! There were plenty of yard games in the gazebo, fishing equipment, kayaks, and everything we needed to build a fire and have s’mores too! The house is set in a nice quiet and easy to navigate cove (no wake) and that made for safe and fun swimming out to the swim platform that the girls had a blast using. They also really enjoyed the sandy beach area, they were down there 1st thing every morning. We also enjoyed the use of the bunkhouse with the 1/2 bath as well as the outdoor shower on the deck, both of which made getting ready to head out for dinner with 5 adults much easier.

The house was very clean when we got there and Jeff even had a large wagon we used to assist in bringing things from the dock across the yard to the steps of the house, that was cool. Another nice touch was all of the fans in the house (both fixed and portable) as well as the AC's in the back bedrooms as we had a few pretty warm nights to contend with. There was also a minor issue that came up with the kitchen range but we told Jeff about it and he was there the next day to address and correct the problem, so service in my opinion was top notch! Another nice thing was we also had plenty of place to eat, from the kitchen island, to the table at the porch, the gazebo table, and the large picnic table outside.

All in all I would recommend this place to anyone with a family looking for a quiet get-a-way. We had a lot of fun just exploring the island (lightly wooded with some trails) and hanging out in and around the house. By comparison from our last island adventure where (partly due to the weather) we had made may trips back to the car to drive to different attractions; this time we didn't go back to the car even once at all until it was time to leave. It's a great house, well maintained, with a great owner, and when we book our next island adventure, it will be with Jeff thru HomeAway.

Mink Island Is Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Dear Jeff & Patricia,

Mink Island is truly an amazing place when one is in need of relaxation and peace. The loons were amazing to see and so inviting to listen to during the stillness of the beautiful quiet evenings. We enjoyed our pontoon boat during the week and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Your home was the most equipped and comfortable one that we have rented over the past 12 years of having our family gatherings. The open floor plan is a great way for everyone to share conversations in addition to the large and comfortable screened-in porch where many morning chats over coffee & breakfast were shared. The lake is so clean, refreshing and amazing! We enjoyed swimming to the raft and kayaking around Mink Island. We enjoyed your fire pit along with roasting marshmallows for S'mores and created many wonderful memories. The hammock is a great addition as it was so relaxing to enjoy the peace and quiet of the surroundings as we watched the clouds roll by. Thank you for your hospitality and for sharing your beautiful home with our family.

Sincerely,

The Macomber's

Ocala, Florida
