About Jeffrey and Patricia Martin

We are a family living in Gloucester Massachusetts who loves vacationing on the Islands of Lake Winnipesaukee and decided to purchase our own Island property. Since we can't be there all of the time, we have decided to share our little piece of paradise with others who would like to experience the tranquility of island life on the lake.

Jeffrey and Patricia Martin purchased this house in 2014

Why Jeffrey and Patricia Martin chose Gilford

We fell in love with this home as soon as we saw it! It has a retreat-like feel that we hope you will find as peaceful and rejuvenating as we have. Listening to the loons at night will serenade you to sleep. Enjoy time on the swim raft that is within yards of the loon nesting area where you will see them feeding and frolicking with their families. Bald eagles nest on the island adjacent to ours and provide a daily opportunity to catch a glimpse of these beautiful birds. Being in a no wake zone makes for perfect swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding without boat traffic and waves.

What makes this house unique

A favorite amenity is the large screened in porch. it is so beautiful but especially early morning with your first cup of coffee as the day awakens or late at night with a cocktail in hand listening to the lake fall asleep.

Map

Centrally located on the lake with easy access to family amusements, great restaurants and shopping which can be reached by boat. Tie up at town docks and marinas at various locations around the lake.

Spectacular Vacation Home!

  • 5 of 5

This home is an absolutely perfect island home: comfortable, well-equipped, beautifully maintained, and situated in a gorgeous spot with calm water ideal for kayaking (thoughtfully provided with the home) and stand-up paddleboarding. We thoroughly enjoyed the easy boat access, sandy beach and swim platform, fire pit, and watching the ducks and loons (and a few mink sightings)! Jeff, the owner, responded immediately when I was not able to figure out how to use the coffee maker, and even checked in the next morning to be sure we had success. We can't wait to go back!

Wonderful place and perfect for a family

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place so much. It's tucked into a little cove out of the way but has easy access to the center of the lake. Access to the cove is a bit tight for most of the fun-seeking boats which means no wakes and not a lot of boat traffic near the house. A wonderful place to relax or to use as a home base.

The house was quaint but very well maintained and has pretty much a full set of kitchen supplies. We didn't use the gazebo because the screened in porch was so great. We spent most of our evening and early morning times on the porch, which faces out toward the cove.

Plenty of local animal life too. The Herons right there and the eagles can be seen flying around on occasion. Our kids loved the baby ducks swimming around and visiting the house. Kind of like a dream.

The new bunk house was very nice for one set of adults and has its own bed, sink, toilet, fridge(!) and also has the washer and dryer. It's disconnected from the main house so it's very quiet. The washer had a leak and within a couple of hours the owner was out fixing it. Jeff was a very nice host and just the nicest guy. He explained all about the house, island, and lake. He's very concerned that his renters enjoy the place. Just fantastic.

After a week at the house, we felt right at home and didn't want to leave. But, real-life was a bit more tolerable after relaxing and hanging out with our families in this lovely house. I envy all that will come after us.

Quiet lake house retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family vacation here. It was very quiet and peaceful. We were worried that we would run out of things to do but with the beach, the yard, the kayaks and so much more we didn't get to do everything we wanted. It is a perfect lake house that has everything you would need to feel right at home.

Mink Island.....our favorite vacation spot!!!

  • 5 of 5

Hands down, we love to vacation here!!! This is our second summer renting this cottage on Mink Island! My husband spent his summers growing up on Mink Island and by far feels this is the best spot on the lake. We love to play wiffle ball in the front yard and watch the ducks swim under the dock! We love to kayak around the cove and island. The water is always calm in the channel between Mark and Mink Island. We enjoy water skiing, tubing and boat rides to the Wolfboro dock! We love to grill and watch the beautiful sunsets. The cottage works perfect for our family. It is very clean and comfortable. We can even grab a Red Sox game on the tv in the evening, play cards, or roast marshmallows in the firepit! We would recommend the Martin's cottage for families looking for some quality time in the most beautiful setting on the lake!
