Good for a group
We enjoyed our stay in this home very much.
Nelson street: Good house to serve as a base to visit Oxford for a larger group of people
We were moved to a different house (on Nelson street) a couple of weeks before our holidays, because this place was being refurbished. The replacement house has sufficient room to sleep 7 very comfortably and 10 using the living room sofa and a spare bed. We stayed with 4 adults and 4 children and found it a very good base to explore the town.
The house is a decent size, but not extremely big. The 2 bathrooms are practical but not very big. The dining room is in the "shed" in the garden: maybe a bit peculiar, but it serves its purpose well. Kitchen has everything you need and there is sufficient cutlery, plates, glasses etc., but in terms of kitchen knives, pans, oven trays etc could use some more (or maybe we were spoiled by our previous two cottages).
Parking is a bit tricky: we rented a parking spot via Justpark approx. 10 minutes away on foot on the recommendation of the owner.
On the first day our local host visited us to ask everything was ok: a nice touch (and improved our impression of the organisation a lot after the hassle with the change of house).
Conclusion: good house to serve as a base to visit Oxford for a larger group of people. I only give 4 stars instead of 5 due to the price/quality trade-off.
Near the centre of Oxford
Stayed over Easter to celebrate a big birthday. It is a lovely house there were 7 of us so table was just adequate. The kitchen is not large but everything's to hand. It was so nice to be able to walk into the centre of Oxford in 10 -15 minutes. There are nice restaurants and coffee shops very close to the house. So all in all a great visit.
Not as advertised
Sadly it wasn't too good. Firstly we had our first property cancelled, then the second then allocated a third. When we arrived at the address my son was told it was the wrong one and was directed back to the second. The house had not been cleaned, beds not changed. Rudy was apologetic, and sent cleaners around. When we went to bed at midnight we discovered the beds had only been made and not changed. It was too leta to do anything about it. They were changed the following day. The house is advertised as 5 bedrooms...it only has 4. The bathrooms are inadequate for the amount of people. One only has a very small bath. The other has a shower which is surrounded by a cloth curtain which you have to stand on..not a very nice sensation. The bathroom leaks and because several of us had to have a bath the hot water ran out. The house itself is very quaint but really is not suitable for that amount of people...there were 9 of us. The whole booking process was stressful as two bookings cancelled then allocated somewhere else only to be given the second original one. We need to rent another property in Warwick in April and I don't think I will be using this company again. To have stress booking in the first and then after a 5 hour drive to arrive to a dirty house, then to have to sleep in someone's else's dirty sheets was not a pleasant experience. The cleaner assured the host that she had changed them...but she was only therefor one hour, so there was def no time for her to change the sheets, clean the kitchens, empty the bins and clean the bathrooms. The beds had hair in them and stains on the sheets....def dirty!
Dear Mr and Mrs Morse,
Thank you for choosing to stay with us, and I really appreciate your kind feedback.
I’m dismayed to read of your dissatisfaction and very disappointed that you found your stay to be anything less than perfect, which is how we had intended for it to be.
I feel very sorry to hear of the move to a new property and happy that we managed to send you on time before your arrival date a note of the move to the original property on Richmond road. I've been informed that you were not able to view the message we send you regarding the last move.
We pride ourselves of a very high standard of cleanliness, and I deeply regret any oversight on the cleanliness of your apartment which has lead to it falling below you're expectations. Whilst such feedback is extremity rare, I would like to thank you for bringing that to my attention and ensure you that my cleaning team cleaned the property and change all the linen and towels with fresh and new.
That happened while you were enjoying the drinks Rudy offered you.
I'm very happy that we were able to come into an agreement as gesture of apology.
Of course my team and I will be more than happy to welcome you back in the near future for what I am certain will be a faultlessly enjoyable stay.
With my warmest regards,
DR K E E FARRAG
It was a family Christmas that got us together in this nice location in the heart of Oxford, my son and his family from Canada and my daughter and her boyfriend from London. Although the owner made a the effort in making the living room Christmassy by putting up a decorated Christmas tree, we found the living room to small, TV not working, definitely 2 bathrooms not enough for a family of 6 adults and a child. One of the bathrooms didn't even have a door knob and couldn't be shut,
Although excellent location in the centre of Oxford, I however do not recommend it to friends and relatives.
