This lovely, just-renovated cottage is the perfect place from which to explore all that Charleston has to offer without needing a car. Located just inside the up-and-coming East Side area of downtown, this home is located within walking distance of both historic downtown Charleston and the trendy new Upper King district.
There is three bedroom and two full bathroom. The home is two levels, with a cozy living room with full kitchen with bar height dining table and laundry on the second floor, all beds are queen sized beds. A striking historic decorative fireplace serves as the spine of the house. The restored original hardwood floors throughout connect you to the history of this home with each step.
All linens, towels and toiletries are provided. There is a flat-screen television in the family room, with full cable and Netflix and Wifi.
This home has two off-street parking spaces. There is an outdoor porch with rocking chairs and a courtyard with a gas grill and picnic table.
I was an owner of a Contemporary art gallery for 8 years in Charleston so the house is full of contemporary art, enjoy! I currently live downtown close to the house.

I'm originally from New York but fell in love with Charleston over ten years ago and didn't leave. The East Side is one of the most interesting areas of the city in my opinion, close to everything while still not being fully gentrified.
Able to walk to all of Charleston's popular destinations downtown and on Upper King, while also having easy access to the area housing the newly-renovated Cigar Factory make the East Side the place to be for urban, engaged people.
We had a great time on the East Side of Charleston. The place was clean and well appointed. Our group of six and three dogs fit perfectly. Mike was responsive and a fantastic host.
The interior of the home was nice. The place was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Although the street / neighborhood is not great, we felt safe and didn't think that was an issue. I would stay there again in a minute.
We had a wonderful time at this house. As other reviews stated, the area is not the greatest, but even as a small group of girls, we still felt safe. However, don't let the area deter you from the house. The pictures here don't do it justice. The house was nicely renovated, extremely clean, and very well stocked! Mike was also very easy to work with. I would highly recommend this house and look forward to hopefully staying here again in the future.
This house is extremely nice. There is a TV downstairs, with Netflix access, which is a nice bonus. The location is just a few blocks from meeting/king streets. As long as you über or taxi you're good to go. Although we did walk a few times during the day. There is off street parking for your vehicle which is a luxury.
The only negatives about my visit are as follows.
First, the surrounding location is run down and questionable at best. DO NOT mistake this for the immediate house area or driveway, that is extremely nice. There was only one time where I felt unsafe and that was a drug stop in front of the house at 1am, the first night of my stay. Outside of that, I felt safe during the visit using taxi's and über.
Secondly, the air conditioning upstairs did not work during my visit. After making the owner aware, he contacted an A/C company which could not repair the unit until after my visit was complete (3 days). This was disappointing because I would have liked to enjoy sleeping in a cool house after walking around in the Charleston heat. Fans and sleeping with the windows open was just simply not enough to cool off for comfortable sleep. The owner was apologetic and sincere but didn't offer any remedy or resolution to the issue at hand.
Pros - Location, house, parking, and Netflix
Cons - surrounding area, a/c failure, no resolution offered by owner
Overall the trip was nice and I would possibly stay at this location again. The price for the house was $1200 and that seemed fair had the air worked. The owner is extremely nice and easy to contact, so that is a definite positive.
Recently returned from our second visit to this wonderful rental. The location is perfect for easy access to all areas of the town with out having to fight the traffic. Easy walk to great restaurants on upper King. Easy drive to great restaurants and sights all around. Mt Pleasant, Sullivans Island, Shem Creek, Hampton Park. After walking to the Battery you can take the Trolley back for free! Don't tell too many people as we can not wait to come back and will stay here again! Thanks again Mike! We will be back.
This house was a real find - a perfect size and location for us. We could walk to many places, and the nearby grocery store made it even better. We had three of us for two nights and six for one night. Very comfortable, nicely renovated, and well-equipped kitchen. Loved sitting on the porch with coffee. We appreciated the thoughtful accommodations and extra touches.
