About Jason Jones & Gwynn Jones

Hi, we're the Joneses! We're a family of five, with Dad Jason, Mom Gwynn, and our three kids Gabriel, Ella, and Colwyn. Gwynn's aunt Zoe has lived about a decade in Naramata and Penticton, and the Jones family has been visiting every year (sometimes more than once!) since 2010. The kids think of the Okanagan as their home away from home - we hope your family comes to feel that way too.

Jason Jones & Gwynn Jones purchased this house in 2015

Cute little home as advertised

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Birdhouse, it was a cute home with a lovely front private area to hang out. It was in a quiet neighborhood and has the amenities in the home that we needed.

There is a lot of nicknack decor everywhere so it can feel smaller than it is . That would be my only recommendation, remove some of the stuff that is easy to bump into. The bedrooms and bath are on the small side. A king bed would have been better but the room was too small for that. Overall we really enjoyed being in this location and home and would definitely come back!

Magical

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Birdhouse for almost 2 months this spring. It was a real blessing to come off the road from RVing into a fully stocked house with ample kitchen gadgets to make some great meals. The space is really cute & very clean. Great for families, outdoor enthusiasts and would be a great space for an artist retreat. Gwynn & Jason are very responsive to guests needs and the keyless entry makes it smooth to come & go.

Would use & reccomend this space again.

Charming cottage in lovely village near wineries.

  • 5 of 5

The bird house is exactly as shown in the photos. Cute, cozy and quaint. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes and everything you need to make a family meal. We made thanksgiving dinner for 6 with no issues. They also had spices and staples for use. This is a lovely touch as it is nice to have a bit of flour or sugar on hand, without having to purchase a large container. The beds were comfortable, though I wouldn't recommend more than two adults. The kids beds are for kids.

Plenty of soaps and toilet paper on hand, just have to look around to find where it is stashed.

The town is a wonderful home base for visiting wineries, swimming, hiking and climbing. There is a lovely beach nearby and the kettle valley trail is also very close. It's close enough to penticton to go for dinner or shop, but it's out of the way and slower paced for a relaxing vacation.

The owners were in contact to make sure we had access and all the info we needed. They were also very understanding when we informed them we broke a dish, sorry again!

The town has a wonderful spot for breakfast called the grape leaf, owned by a friendly local family.

My only criticism, is the amount of decor on the useable surfaces. I few less birds wouldn't dampen the charm and would make the house more functional, especially for families.

All in all, a lovely place for a relaxing vacation. Highly recommended.

Fabulous vacation home in amazing Naramata.

  • 5 of 5

Huge thank you to Gwynn and Jason for sharing their charming home with us. Both hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The Birdhouse is a quaint, very clean little house with feeling of home away from home. Air conditioning in both bedrooms saved our life in +35C summer days. The pergola provided lovely shade for all our outdoor meals. In overall, the Naramata Birdhouse is a fantastic place that creates long lasting, pleasurable memories for all the guests that stay there.

Nesting @ the Birdhouse.

  • 3 of 5

The Birdhouse has an exceptional street appearance; well-designed seating area, under a pergola, which will provide shade in years to come. We found the entry by keyless Locksafe was off and on, even after the given number was rekeyed for us by the owners. A lockbox made it possible to override the system.

The home is kept clean. Whimsical objects along the theme of birdhouses were everywhere, sometimes taking needed space on nightstands, for example. Clothes hanging space was very limited; two sets of coat hooks with a few plastic hangers, no closet space at all.

Kitchen is very modern; well stocked with crockery, silverware, utensils, cook-pots, small appliances etc.

Bedrooms have air-conditioning units, essential in the Okanagan heat. Bathroom is small, the bath being particularly tight for space when showering. It is very slippery inside. (A non-slip bath mat would help.) All amenities for laundry are available, (could not find clothes pegs to hang items outside, to save energy).

All communication with the owners remained positive as we tried to eliminate the music sounds from next door,

which we found distracting when trying to relax in peace and read or eat outside. Family campers on the same property were very close to the BBQ area, limiting open conversation. The Webber charcoal BBQ was not used. With only 2 of us there, we thought it too "labour intensive", would have preferred a simpler gas model.

The back outdoor area needs some lawn to play the croquet/ lawn darts games which were provided.

Cards, dominoes and other indoor games were available as well as cable tv. perhaps the owners could include

instructions for using the Shaw cable system, with which we were not familiar and took some time to master.

We had a pleasant stay in a favourite area, where we have been visiting for many years and love the beaches, wine-tasting, markets and water activities such as SUP-boarding.

We considered a four star rating, but decided that the neighbouring noises were a detraction.
