Stayed 3 nights and wished we would have booked a couple more. The apartment was within easy walking to everything in the tourist pamphlets
on either side of the river. Just great to stay in a large one bedroom apartment that had pretty well everything, dishwasher, clothes washer, drying rack, all the condiments one needed for cooking and a North American coffee machine! Thank you Tommaso as it was nice to have a place to cook a few meals and relax as we had some long days and were pretty tired. Train station 2 1/2 blocks away and the walking was level.
Nice Apartment, Transition Neighborhood
This Florence apartment is has some very nice features. It is good-sized, with room to spread about. There are two air conditioners , each with a large hose connected to the outside to vent heat. The clothes washer is a great plus to wash you clothes mid-trip. There is no clothes dryer, but there is a large drying rack to spread your things about until they dry. In addition to the large bed in the bedroom, there is a rollaway cot and a small pull out bed under the leather couch. The kitchen is adequate, if a bit of a mish-mash of an island counter space. The bathroom sink is large. The shower is a bit on the small side by American standards. It is a bit small to stand and wash your feet if you are anything approaching six feet tall. The hot water was adequate by European standards, which means you are best off turning off the water while you lather up and back on to rinse off. Doing so always netted us two showers.
The apartment is on what Europeans call the first floor, but what Americans call the second floor. The location near the train and bus stations is excellent. It is within the old city and convenient to many of the tourist sites, but then almost anywhere within the old city is not too far from the tourist sites. The Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo, and the Pitti Palace are each easily reached within fifteen minutes on foot.
There are many restaurants and small grocery shops in the area. The apartment is in an area of many African immigrants. The men often congregate in small groups in the street and on the narrow sidewalks, speaking a language other than Italian or English. They stay out on the street until about 11:00 p.m. (later on Friday) and can be very loud, making it hard to enjoy being in the living room area of the apartment. Fortunately, there is a door to the bedroom that blocks out the noise. However, for one trying to sleep on the rollaway cot or the pull out bed, the noise will be a problem. There is a small market directly across the street from the apartment that stays open until at least 11:00 p.m, every night with immigrant men outside in loud conversation. On a Friday night, the shop owner placed a radio outside the shop with the speakers pointed to the street playing loudly. My wife felt uncomfortable walking through the groups of congregated men, but they seemed respectful.
I think this apartment is owned as part of a group of rental apartments. We were met by a woman who was very helpful, but certainly was not Tommaso
Great family apartment
It was a clean apartment, very spacious for the four of us! I felt safe for me and my family.
Very comfortable apartment
Lovely apartment with hardwood floors, kitchen amenities and a spacious bathroom. They were very accommodating of our early arrival and allowed us to leave our bags in the apartment until the room was ready for check-in. Location is good...just a 5-minute walk from the train station. Includes a dishwasher and washing machine for clothes. Air conditioner (portable penguino unit) was very helpful at night).
Great location and accommodation
After looking at hundreds of accommodations in Florence I chose this one primarily because of its location and the pictures on the web site. The transaction was seamless, and Gabriele responded quickly to any questions. The apartment is in a building of about 12 apartments. It is one flight up, but the stairway is wide, steps low, and lighted well. The apartment was just fine! Large room with sectional sofa, large ottoman, table and chairs and kitchenette. The bedroom had lots of storage and a comfortable bed, and the bathroom was roomy and very nicely appointed. The location was superb! It is two blocks from the train station, and all the sites are within walking distance. Good shopping around, nice market a couple of blocks away, bus stop around the corner. We thought it was an excellent choice for our week's stay in Florence.
The apartment was very clean and presented nicely for us! It was close to the train station and Gabrielle did a great job giving us useful information for Florence!
