About Michele Luke

We love our bay home! An active family, we enjoy fishing, spearfishing, scuba diving, surfing, waterskiing, paddle boarding, kayaking and sunbathing all from this wonderful home.

Michele Luke purchased this house in 2009

Why Michele Luke chose Gulf Coast

We purchased this home because of it's unique location - on Cold Pass and with access to thousands of nautical miles of bay and Gulf of Mexico water, we knew we would be able to get offshore and into deep water more quickly here than anywhere else in the area. It is also near a very quiet beach and close to Surfside's and Galveston's restaurants, attractions and activities.

What makes this house unique

The proximity of San Luis Pass, a toll bridge linking Galveston Island to Surfside, to this home offers very quick access to the deep water in the Gulf of Mexico. Our home has a dock on the calm waters of a deep canal with a large area for boat docking, so it is the ideal rental for the offshore and bay fisherman/woman. At the same time, if you are not into fishing, it is water toy paradise for kids and adults - go kayaking, jet skiing, paddle boarding in the bay, or surfing, swimming and beach combing at the beach which is just across the road. If you just want to chill and get some sun or sit in the breezy shade, the huge deck is very relaxing and offers incredible sunset views year-round.

The Property has the potential to be amazing!

  • 3 of 5

This beach house is in an amazing location, and at one time and can be again an amazing beach house. My children and I had an awesome time. There were maintenance issues, home was not ready when we arrived. We live to night fish however most outside lights did not work, the green fishing light was not there and the cleaning table lights did not work. Informed owners, and response was Ill let my people know. No one showed up to fix. The home owners are very nice, i believe the problem is communication with manager and house keeping. As I said in the beginning upon arrival the house was not ready for guest. Laundry was going, I completed it by putting in the dryer my self. My issue that bothered me the most was lack of privacy. The neighbor across the way was constantly counting my family members and I felt as though We were under eagles eye view. If you want to allow anyone to visit even for a few hours, this is not the place to be. They do not tell you before that your not allowed additional visitors. I read all of the reviews before renting. This was a shock to me. Amazing weekend, however once home, the messages started, wanting to know if there had been an accident, pictures of a little stain on the couch, the furniture in this house is well maintained but far from spotless and new. Most definately need before and after pics and check off. Walls in bedrooms need to be painted. Carpets a soiled and stained..... I did not think to do an arrival check list and well 1000 dollar deposit. Well lets just say poof.

Owner's Response: This guest approached me with a plea for a discounted rate, which I gave her, due to a death in her family and said that she needed a quiet weekend with her children to get away together before they started summer school. She did not say she wanted to have a party at the house, which is not allowed. She did not say that she would have a dog in the house, and did not pay the pet fee, which is required. We had friendly exchanges while she was at the house with no mention of problems other than burned out bulbs. When the housekeeper went to the house to clean for the next guest she found not only a messy house but also large blood stains on the master bed, the twin beds and the couch. When we approached the guest with concern about someone having been injured while there, she denied it saying she knew nothing about any injuries and then started to complain about things in the house. We have since talked with our neighbors who said that a child in the group got a fishhook in his foot and despite assistance from our neighbor, the adult with the child cut the hook leaving the barb in the foot. This is likely where the blood all over the house came from. The neighbors also said that loud and inappropriate music was played into the night without regard for the neighbors, their children or the children in the guests' group. Treasure Island is a quiet fisherman's neighborhood, full of families and friends. We'd like to keep it that way. Needless to say, we will not be inviting this guest to stay with us again.

My baby had her 50th.Birthday there. We have stayed at a lot of different places allll over the world and even have a time share in Saint Thomas VI...with that said, and I had to pick I would go with the Lukes place here in Texas above all other places to stay. Not one time did she have any anxiety and health wise the Lukes beach house was the most soothing for her and also helped with her blood pressure as well.Any Dr.should also recommend the Lukes place it's just that great. Also for kids and any man that wants to fish as well. The Lukes have a special fish light you can use at night and the fish just jump on the pier and right on the pier is a giant fire pit you can stay warm and cozy with as well as cook your catch on.Go with the Lukes beach house in Freeport and all your dreams will come true.

Great home and location

  • 3 of 5

We had such a good time. We really enjoyed the house, upper deck and lower dock area. We were able to catch fish and crabs right at the dock of the house. We even swam in the canal. It's a great location to access the bay and beaches. Easy drive into Galveston to sightsee and view historic homes and the Strand area. The house is open concept which is really nice for entertaining with large windows that overlook the upper deck and also large windows that overlook the street. The bedrooms are small, but nice. The owners were very nice and receptive to our inquiries about some maintenance issues. It's a great place if you have a boat.

Great little getaway on the Bay March 2016

  • 5 of 5

The house was very nice and clean. We had everything we needed so our stay was very comfortable. It was nice to be right on the water with family and friends. Plenty of outdoor seating and great fire pit, just don't forget to bring firewood & s'mores. The owners were very nice and answered any questions we had. We would highly recommend this vacation rental and look forward to returning in the summer when the trout are running. Thanks for sharing your home
