Beautiful house amidst gorgeous scenery

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay in Asheville. The house had plenty of rooms to hold all of us. The scenery was very restful, and we also enjoyed the hot tub. The only complaint was the wifi which had a tendency to go in and out when we were trying to watch a movie. Otherwise, no complaints--it was everything we hoped for.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

I went with a group of 10 (5 couples) for Labor Day weekend. We had a fabulous time and made great use of the large deck, hot tub and gathering areas at the dining table and in the main family room. We appreciated the opportunity to bring a couple of dogs along too. My husband and I were lucky enough to get the king bedroom which is definitely the best since it has a larger bed, more space in the room and had a private bathroom. The two queen rooms are pretty much equivalent though one has access to a balcony. The double is in a small no frills room, and the futon is out in the common area upstairs. I felt bad for the couple on the futon as it's somewhat small and people from the bedrooms walk through that area to go to the shared bathroom and to come and go from their bedrooms. We divided the payments so that that couple paid a bit less though. We loved the hot tub. The pool was cold but a few of us worked up the nerve to take the plunge and enjoyed it. It's a fabulous pool!

Jennifer, the owner, was very responsive leading up to and following our stay. At our request, she temporarily added a channel to the directv package so that we could watch a ballgame we wanted to see (and we paid for that expense). She even mailed something back to me that I had forgotten. She was really fantastic!

We made frequent trips downtown for food, site seeing, a festival and shopping and the drive wasn't bad at all.

All in all, we loved this place and would love to stay there again!

Owner's Response: It's great to hear that you enjoyed the property. Thank you for the detailed feedback. In alignment with your description, I do feel the house is best suited for up to 8 adults. At full capacity, the smaller bedroom and futon seem to work best when there are 2-4 kids within a group of 10. I loved having you and hope you visit again!

Sad to say, it was disappointing...

  • 2 of 5

Upon driving up, the house is beautiful. Lots of lighting outside and inside. And the owners left useful stuff like laundry detergent, some condiments, paper towels and dishwashing detergent. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and dishes. Huge decks. Very nice propane grill.

But, for a house that sleeps 10. There's one couch in the living room which is different from that in the picture. There is a gigantic space on the other side of the living room that looks like it might have been where a pool table or something once was. A lot of burnt out lightbulbs. Cob webs in most corners. A thick layer of dust on the hood of the stove, fridge, etc. Maybe half the windows open, one opens but doesn’t close so I had to take the screen off the other to reach out and pull it in.... The deck is not as pictured, no cushioned furniture, but extremely uncomfortable iron chairs. No ceiling fans. The hot tub chemicals burned my sister. WiFi was extremely slow, the master bedroom’s massive window’s blinds don’t open, so you miss that view.

A lot of people would wonder why these issues weren’t brought up while staying here, but I can’t imagine they would’ve come in with new furniture or to replace rotted windows.

The house has excellent potential. Needs some lawn work and refreshing. And furnishing.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate the positive comments, and we hate to hear that you were disappointed. Due to wear and tear, we have updated the sectional sofa to seat 7, which is slightly larger than the original sectional in the house. We always use guest comments to make improvements to our property, and we have never had any feedback about the hot tub other than positive. We always check light bulbs between parties, and have replaced the two bulbs we found were not working when you checked out. We also found the master bedroom window shade issue and reset the retracting mechanism to enable the shade to be open and closed as it should.

Lovely Stay

  • 5 of 5

The property is very spacious with a great pool and hot tub. Unfortunately weather didn't work out for us to use the pool, but we were able to get to downtown Asheville within 15 minutes. Jennifer was very helpful with her recommendations and made the process easy

Great properties

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this property. We recently stayed there with our family which included 5 adults and 4 small children. Everyone had plenty of space to sleep and move around. We loved spending our afternoons in the pool and hot tub and our evenings hanging out on the deck with the fire pit with the woods surrounding us. It is definitely a great private mountain retreat. We also were close enough to enjoy all Asheville has to offer- we were a short drive to get to Blue Ridge Highway and do some hiking, as well as head downtown to enjoy the restaurants and breweries. The owner was very responsive and easy to work with.
