Why Teresa Anne Mckeon chose Kippford
Dorus Mhor is a much loved family home where we have enjoyed long holidays for many years. The view of the Solway coast from the house and garden is simply breathtaking, and that was what we fell in love with first of all. The house and mature gardens have oodles of character, and it is a peaceful place, where you can easily forget that you have neighbours at all. So it is secluded but not isolated.
What makes this House unique
Jubilee path is a driveway which becomes a path leading to spectacular walks to Rockcliffe, Sandyhills and Colvend. The house sits high on Jubilee path and commands views of the Solway Firth, Screel Hill and Rough Island. The gardens are extensive and well cared for.

Lovely house in stunning location.
This house was a great place for us and our three grown up daughters to have a few days of peace and as a base for exploring Dumfrieshire.
It is wonderfully quiet and the garden is frequented by local wildlife including red squirrels and many species of birds.
The area is lovely with walks on the shore and into the countryside minutes away.
There is an opportunity to make it absolutely perfect if the plumbing were updated.
We enjoyed our stay enormously and would recommend it to anyone.
Wonderful home from home with stunning views.
My friends and I booked Dorus Mhor for a quiet long-weekend and couldn't have wished for a better house and location. The house itself is very homely, clean and comfortable. Nothing lavish, but that's not what we look for in a holiday rental: you really do feel at home here and the property represents incredible value for money. The rooms are all very large and the few without sea views, nevertheless, look onto the woods at the rear of the propery where we saw deer, rabbits and squirrels. Although there are no pics of the kitchen on the website, it is large, clean and very well equipped.
The area itself is peaceful and beautiful and epitomises the nature of this part of Scotland. We walked daily along the Jubilee Path to Rockliff to stretch the legs and have ice cream on the sandy beach. The bird-life in the woods along the Jubillee path and surrounding walks is prolific and diverse and I would recommend anyone with an interest in ornothology to bring decent optics with them.
As we were blessed with wonderful sunny weather we spent a lot of time sitting under the sun-porch on the comfy loungers admiring the view: the sunny bay during the day and incredible starry skies at night.
Although we didn't have our families with us, it would be a fantastic place to bring kids (and we plan on doing so as soon as we can rebook).
The owner throughout has been incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming. In fact, in 20 years of booking self-catering holidays in Scotland, Teresa has been the most perfect property host of all.
Wonderful place – my family and I hope to book for a longer stay as soon as we can.

House is clean and tidy had to move a few ornaments out of the way of the children. Garden is amazing kids loved it, tree swing 'awesome' as children put it.
Thank you for letting us stay.
Thank you Michelle. You were a perfect guest. Thank you for leaving the house so clean and tidy. Come back anytime.
A house with character in a stunning location
The property itself is wonderful for a family get away (we did need to rearrange furniture to avoid children breaking anything).
All the locals are wonderfully polite, there are some lovely walks just off the door step, a nice tearoom at the bottom of the hill and plenty to do around the area. The garden space is prefect for kids to play and explore.
Thank you for your comments David, it was lovely to have you stay, and I hope you come back to Dorus Mhor again soon.
Kippford has two bar/ restaurants and a little shop selling some food, coffee and limited groceries.
