About Theofilos Kontogeorgos
I was born in Athens - Byron City, but the last 12 years i live in Chania City. I decided to change my life, because always i prefer the specific conditions of nature life, near the sea and also near the mountain. The life here is much better than the capital of Greece. The highest level of life for me and my family
Why Theofilos Kontogeorgos chose Tavronitis
The property is something different from other more touristic places. It is a very nice place, inside the nature life, around a lot of trees. The guests will be alone without another people near them, without any noisy sounds. 2100squares meters only for my guests in a modern house.

Tavronitis is a village and seat of the Local Community Tavronitis Platanias in prefecture Chanion. To village located in the northwestern part of Crete, 18 km from Chania. In the village namesake river ends. In the delta of the river formed a natural wetland, which is a natural habitat for many species of fauna and important stop for migratory birds.
The famous Balos lagoon is located about 56 km west of Chania and 17km northwest of Kissamos. It is a shallow sandy beach formed between the Cape of Gramvousa and the smaller cape Tigani, below the mo untain of Platyskinou. Balos certainly the most photographed beach in Crete, a very favorite subject of all tourist guides in Greece. Indeed it is no coincidence that even Charles with Diana had come here with their private yacht several years ago.
It is famous for its turquoise waters, the wild natural beauty and wonderful exotic scenery. In summer, the beach is flooded daily by thousands of visitors, who arrive mostly by boat from Kissamos.
The lagoon Balos has white sand and exotic white, vivid blue and turquoise waters. The sea is very shallow and warm, ideal destination for small children. In many places the sand has a beautiful pink color, derived from millions of broken shells. Beyond the rocks the water is deeper and colder, ideal for mask. Like the surrounding area, are part of the Natura protection program, with rare species of flora and fauna. In caves nesting falcons nest, shags and cormorants. Also in the area finds refuge the protected monk seal and turtle caretta caretta.
Access to Balo done in three ways. The first and easiest is to take the morning boat from Kissamos. You will have the chance to see the wild shores of Gramvousa and signs from their elevation by 6-9m. after the earthquake of 365 AD .. Also, the boat will leave you for a dip in the exotic beach of the island of Gramvousa, where you will see the old fort and the wreck. If you are lucky, you can make your journey escorted by dolphins.
If you do not want to come by boat and have a car or motorbike, you can drive cautiously on the road that starts from Kaliviani along the Cape Gramvousa (the same route done by bus Kissamos). First you pass a checkpoint where you pay a small ticket intended for road maintenance and protection of Balos. After 10 km, the road ends in a large parking space and a canteen where you are high above the lagoon. From there begins a stone path 1 km length leading to the beach (10'-20 '), or, better, in paradise! The panoramic view of Balos and the island of Gramvousa skyline are shocking. The return can be tedious because of the uphill, especially at noon.
The seaside village of Platanias is located 11km west of Chania. The area has grown so much that now is essentially a suburb of Chania. The village is built on a hill, with fantastic sea views. On summer evenings, the large entertainment area flooded with people, Greeks and foreigners, who have fun until the morning.
The beach of Platanias is a lovely huge beach, along which there are many hotels of all categories which have all the usual tourist facilities. You will find that it offers a well-organized, such as bars, umbrellas, showers, canteen, water sports etc. On days that blows, you can enjoy swimming, east of the local harbor, near Agia Marina. There are consecutive artificial creeks, which provide more protection from the waves.
