Waipio's Piko Hale studio is a beautiful and comfortable vacation rental set back from the road. Our vacation rental is attached to a main home yet has it's own private entrance. Our home is plantation style, built in 1945 is within close walking distance to everything Honokaa has to offer (restaurants, grocery store, shopping, golfing, swimming, movie theatre, etc.). This is a great place to stay for an individual or couple looking for a lovely stop close to Waipio Valley and the beautiful Hamakua Coast.
The Piko Hale property is beautiful and is a pleasant retreat for anyone looking for a amazing Hawaii experience in a home-like setting.
Ceri Whitfield and Jennifer Grace purchased this studio in 2014
Waipio's Piko Hale sits back from the main street heading to beautiful Waipio Valley. The studio is perfect for an individual or couple looking for a lovely and clean place to stay while being able to walk to all Homokaa town has to offer.
Beauty is everywhere. Waipio Valley is a few short minutes away and our ocean view is the best place to sit, relax and enjoy the day.
Very comfortable and worth the cost of staying there. The bed was very comfortable. It was a bit hard to find after dark and in pouring rain. I loved the grocery store being directly across the street and a nice 1 block walk to the Main Street.
Great location in small town of Honokaa. Close proximity to Waipio Valley and it's fabulous vistas. Clean and comfortable studio. No microwave or stove, but has a great little toaster/oven and hot plate. Tree frogs are very active at night right outside windows, so if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs and you will be just fine. We loved the sounds.
My family & I were spending the holiday weekend in Honokaa for the 60th Annual Hawaii Saddle Club Scholarship Rodeo. The week leading up to the rodeo is a buzz for the "Western Week" festivities and the Piko Hale is in a perfect location to enjoy it all. Its also conveniently located right across the ONLY local super market in town. However, once your in the home you feel isolated from the action. The home is set back on the property and the views from the back porch automatically put you in a relaxed, country setting. All the kitchen amenities provided were very convenient; coffee maker, toaster, hot plate. We had a great time and will definitely stay again and recommend to other friends looking for a getaway.
We were looking for something small, simple, and no-frills to serve as our "base of operations" as we visited the Big Island. The Piko Hale fit the bill! The property is clean and well-maintained. We had everything that we needed. The studio is small, as other reviewers have noted, but that was fine with us as we spent most of our time out and about. High-speed internet is offered, which was nice as I had to work during my stay. The location is quiet, and it's quick walk to the grocery store if you want to cook for yourself or to restaurants if you want to eat out. You can also walk to nearby shops and the theater. Honoka`a has a surprisingly active nightlife for such a small town! I would, and have, recommended the property to family and friends if they are looking for a location on the Big Island to stay.
We noticed a poor review for this studio and hope to lend some balance. This IS NOT a high end resort. But it was perfect for our stay on this part of the Big Island. The accommodations were comfortable and clean. It's a small studio - not a fancy condo; but if you're up in this amazing part of the island you want to be out and about - for this, the place is ideal. The owners were super responsive when we booked and the town of Honokaa is very unique. We had a great time for the couple of days we stayed and would book again if we come back.
Mahalo nui for your ho'okipa (thank you for your hospitality)... We really appreciate the above and beyond effort to help us plan out our stay. And we were very happy with our little cottage - very clean to include a very comfy bed with plenty of ammenities (refrig, hot water pot, coffee maker, hot plate, toaster, etc.) We felt right at home and even enjoyed meeting our neighbors in the bigger unit! This was a perfect "base" for our activities on the Hamakua coast and we won't hesitate to return if available in the future!
a hui hou!
Quaint, beautiful and historic Honokaa has a downtown area that has great restaurants, shopping and a historic movie theatre all within a 1 minute walk from our home.
