About Charles Greenwald
Hello! My name is Charles Greenwald. I live in New York City and work in the financial services industry. I have a love of the outdoors, and the lake home is one of my favorite places to spend my free-time.
Charles Greenwald purchased this Cabin in 1970
Why Charles Greenwald chose Holmes
I have been spending time at the house my whole life! Going there with my parents as a child, and more recently with friends, my girlfriend or my broader family. It represents the perfect getaway from the everyday city life. It is an easy place to be, allowing for a relaxing, carefree, cozy and most of all fun place to escape! There is plenty to do year round for both kids and adults, whether its a swim in the lake, a bbq right outside or going for a great hike right nearby on the Appalachian trail. Send me an email or call at anytime and I will be happy to answer any questions you have. Thanks!
What makes this Cabin unique
I find the house to be a truly unique place to relax. It isn't far from the city but certainly feels like you are. It is a fantastic place to spend time with your friends & family and unwind for a short, or long vacation.

Great view and plenty of room
We loved staying at the lake house. We had 6 of us and slept everyone comfortably. The view of the lake is very pretty. There are about 50 steps down to the house so if you have difficulty waking up/down steps it might not be for you.
Cozy rustic with beautiful views
Spent a wonderful 3 day Christmas holiday here at this cabin on the lake. The house is toasty and the fireplace works great. Everything is in great working order. We went to Danbury one day to pick up some items, it was a quick 30 minute drive.
The owner was very responsive to any questions.
Beds were super comfy.
Picked this place because of location and they allowed dogs. My dog was very comfortable. He liked lying on the floor by the fire.
Televisions were new and there was one in the master bedroom a big plus for us.
A relaxing 3 days!
Well maintained and wonderful home!
This house had everything we needed. The kitchen was stocked with all of the utensils you’d need. The lake was stocked with all the fish you can eat. My husband caught 2-3 fish a day. We loved access to the canoe and kayaks. It was wonderfully comfortable and clean. The lake was so serene and we felt totally isolated and watched the moon and the stars from the deck or the screened in porch. So close to Beacon too - we spent the day walking and talking. Charles was a terrific host and easy to talk to. He was a text away whenever we needed anything. Thank you for a relaxing stay in your gorgeous home.
A Peaceful Place to Stay.
Very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is small but everything worked. The owner was very helpful. We would like to return one day.
Beautiful property, so close to the city!
We had a lovely late-fall weekend at this cabin. Located only about 1h30m drive from the city (with traffic), we were surprised at the calm oasis that awaited us when we arrived. Beautifully decorated and well taken care of, this house was a unique find. I recommend staying to anyone considering! One word of warning is that the walk down to the house could be a bit of a challenge if you have any trouble walking/balancing. That being said, it's a wonderful place with close-by groceries/amenities and SPECTACULAR views of the lake, especially around sunset.
Fabulous home with a view
We had a great time at the house - it’s a perfect gateway just under 2 hours from NYC. The house is equipped with all the necessities and we absolutely loved it. Will stay again in the spring!
The house is located right on Whaley lake, with great swimming, boating and lake activities. When wanting to get out for a bit, there are plenty of things to do nearby.
There is a general store, grocery stores, Dunkin donuts, restaurants, movie theaters, parks, bars, skiing (beginner mountain), golf (and mini golf) all in the area (happy to give directions and names etc.)
About 20 minutes away is the town of Danbury, CT which has large stores for shopping, a larger restaurant selection and a couple more activities (i.e. bowling).
Please note: the house is down a set of stairs from the parking area that might be difficult for some elderly guests.
