Why Owner/Property Manager chose Columbia
Cumberland County has approximately 11,000 residents. In 1790 there were 16,000. It is a very rural county with private farms and 16,000 acres of public land. We live here because we can run for two miles on a dirt road before we reach the paper box.
What makes this Cabin unique
Solitude, bird and wildlife habitat, very little traffic, these are gifts. The cabin and main house are apart of our nation's history. Hand hewed logs and beams, stone foundations, metal artifacts from the revolution and a library of books from previous owners dating to 1810 offer a unique opportunity to understand our past.

Quaint cabin in remote setting
Great cabin for a small group or family on a lovely secluded farm. The fireplace is cozy and the kitchen is well-equipped. The bathroom is quite large for a cabin although the hot water tank is small. The heaters made the space nice and warm. The only negative is that the cabin is very remote and a long drive to many of the area attractions. Perfect place to go if you want seclusion and to get away from it all.
Very rustic with comfortable beds
Catherine and Luke are nice, friendly hosts. The description and photos are accurate.
The bathroom is clean with a claw foot bathtub and shower. The horses in the pasture are nice to look at. Do bring groceries, nothing close by.
This getaway gave a real taste of what it was to have lived back in the early 1800's. Peace and quiet, quaint, rustic and tranquil. Life today is too hectic, busy and noisy. This is the perfect get away to restore your soul. It was a wonderful anniversary!
Exactly what we needed.
Had a beautiful weekend in peace and quiet. Was able to unplug and get back into nature. Our hosts were simply the best. We feel so thankful that we picked VueMont Cabin and look forward to further stays there in the future. Thank you Thank you.
Quiet and cozy
We spent the morning hiking in the Cumberland State Forest and the afternoon in Charlottesville checking out the shops. We highly recommend this location to anyone who is trying have a quiet romantic weekend.
Charming, rustic cabin in a beautiful setting.
Though the cabin and facilities are very basic this only added to the overall experience. The screened porch was great for our morning coffee and for a glass of wine to end the day. The stairs are steep and may not be suitable for everyone, but they led to cozy bedrooms with comfy beds and pillows and I loved the fresh flowers that Catherine had put in all the rooms. Do take everything you think you might need it's a long way on country roads to get forgotten items.
A wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary.
Because of the historic condition of our property the facility does not have handicapped access. No smoking inside. We are in a rural area and guests should bring supplies including food, bedding and feed for horses, dog food for kennels. Guests will be required to maintain stalls and kennels if using them.
