Owner Ricky and friend June (Ocean House VRBO 497794) manage this property.
Ricky writes: Born and raised in the deep south of Louisiana where it was thought the world began, I then ventured to other coastal lands to experience the history and archeological stories of these regions. At Summerdale Farm, I hope that you experience this microcosm with feelings of small wonder as I do every time stepping on this property. This place assumes antiquated, for example a Laural Oak estimated to be about 150 years old stands majestically in the back quarter. We hope you enjoy your stay and please leave feedback or suggestions for a better stay next time you come for a visit! Thanks--Ricky
June Jackson purchased this house in 2014
I dreamed of a retirement home that was just like my days of youth in southwest Louisiana: Farm land, pecan trees, wooded areas and animals about. On our way to the "Frog Pond"* one autumn Sunday afternoon, seen was this hand written "For Sale" sign in the ditch along side the County Road 55. As we drove up the secluded driveway I remember saying, "This is it!" My dream home from the past. Since I'm not quit ready for full retirement, VRBO was started to share my passion with vacationers until that day for me has come. My wish is that you all enjoy this property as I do every time I visit! Ricky
*Only 4 miles from the infamous FROG POND where seasonal outdoor concerts are a unique musical experience with friendly locals and vacationers alike to enjoy Sunday afternoon treats. Pot luck style party--you should bring your folding chairs, (sun screen / bug repellant if needed) and refreshments to have a truly unique enjoyment!! We very much love going to these when we're here visiting!!!
We had a wonderful time at this beautiful country cottage. We were close enough to the gulf coast to enjoy the white sandy beaches but far enough away to avoid the crowds in the evenings. The outdoor deck was a great place to hang out after a dinner at "home". The kitchen was big enough for both of us to cook together. Overall, this is a wonderful place to stay in Baldwin County, Alabama.
My family has rented this house 3 times because we love it so much. The folks we deal with are always friendly, accommodating, and responsive. The décor and the location are exactly what we're looking for when we escape our busy lives in Houston to visit family back home in Alabama. The kids have room to roam and see different animals on the property. My husband and I love drinking coffee on the big back porch in the mornings and wine in the evenings while we listen to the sweet, peaceful sounds of Dixie. The roof on the porch is metal so when it rains, you can almost fall asleep out there. Can you tell we love it? :) I recommend this place to friends, no doubt, as long as they don't get in our way when we want to rent it!
We really enjoyed the serenity and comfort of the home while we were in Fairhope for a family memeber's wedding. Very neat place. We enjoyed seeing the pictures of the original farm home and the renovations.
We had a great weekend. Clean and charming! Close to Fairhope, Foley, Gulf Shores. Convenient location.
What a wonderful house. It is nicely furnished and laid out; with everything you need to just spend quiet mornings and evenings after a day at the beach. The kitchen has all the utensils and pots/pans you need to make meals (even spices in the cabinet); if you are into coffee they have plenty of filters for their coffee maker. Plenty of towels for the bathrooms and the washer/dryer is legit. We had/have no major issues. If we get the opportunity to come back we would definitely rent this place again. We recommend this place highly.
We had a great stay in Summerdale! The house and property were beautiful and perfect for our group of adults, teens and toddlers! I only give it a 4 because we had a couple of bumps during our stay - a faulty fan that had to be fixed and a shortage of towels. However, Ricky and June were extremely friendly and took care of things as best they could. I would definitely recommend this home for a stay. We spent each of our three days at the beaches which weren't a very long drive - and the drive was beautiful!
Cafe' Acadiana is just a short drive (north on CR 55) to a beautiful quaint town called Silverhill. We highly recommend checking this place out if you want to experience great 'cajun dining from a Louisiana native chef that found his way to Baldwin County, Alabama! A causal setting where you can bring your own wine or other adult beverages. Open daily except Sundays.
