THE MEDIEVAL CASTLE OF NOCCIANO
Presumably built under the Norman domination (XI-XII century), it features a stone-made building with subsequent revisions, additions and changes that make it as composite. It was equipped with a turreted strategic element, including the remaining central bastion, which, in the late Renaissance, was added to the north part of the building completed by the "Loggiato" that faces the Gran Sasso.
Over the centuries, it belonged to the Margherita of Austria that give the castle to Aliprandi family. Diego De Sterlich-Aliprandi, Cermine Marquis and Baron of Nocciano, sold it to the Torregiani family since 1991, when the municipality bought the property. In 1998, the castle hosted the Contemporary Abruzzesi Artists'Achives Museum.
