"Immaculate, peaceful, tranquil, romantic, magical, and with the most incredibly comfortable bed"--These are the words our guests have used to describe The Cottage in their reviews. Please be sure to read the reviews of The Cottage from all of our guests. They seem to better capture the essence of The Cottage more accurately than any other "accurate description" I can provide. But here are the facts:
Immaculate, peaceful, cozy, comfortable, romantic, and tranquil. The Cottage is about 40 paces to the beach, and a 5 minute walk to town. A small, 600 sq. ft. space; newly renovated. 1 or 2 adults only. We are sorry that we must stand firm on the "No children, no pets" rule. Please do not ask about exceptions. The Cottage is a separate dwelling, sitting on its own lot. It is the 4th house from the beach, and a 5 minute walk to town. The Cottage consists of a charming bedroom with an exquisitely comfortable queen size bed, TV (in an armoire at the foot of the bed), radio, Wi-fi, sitting area, armoire, and closets, NO DVD. The living area -- sofa, chair, dining area, kitchen area with coffee maker, toaster oven, toaster, microwave oven, 2 burner stove top, very small ("dorm room size")refrigerator/freezer, pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, and some condiments.

There is a Bbq grill in the yard. The front yard is great for sitting in the sun, or by the bon fire at night. (The fir pit seems to be a something everyone is enjoying quite a bit.)There are two folding chairs and beach towels to take out onto the beach, and comfortable chaises to sit on in the yard.
You will have all the privacy in the world, but if you should need us for any reason, we are right next door on the adjacent property.

Barry and I have lived in Stinson Beach for quite a while, Barry, for about 25 years, having been born and raised in Canada, then moving to Hawaii, then here. I have lived in Stinson/Bolinas for 50 years, am 5 generations from Marin County, with my father's family roots going back 5 generations in Hawaii. We love traveling. Barry has traveled extensively throughout Asia, and I having lived and worked in Kenya, Somalia, and visited The Dem. Republic of Congo. Barry and I love living in Stinson Beach. We have turned what was once a Willow Camp tent platform (the original dwelling structures in Stinson, then a Pilates Studio for me to teach), into a sweet, charming, romantic get-away. Of all the places we could live, we find our happiness here in Stinson Beach.
Once you see the location of this property you will know why we choose to stay in Stinson Beach. It has everything. We can be reclusive. We can walk on the beach in the dark of the morning; there are no words for the feeling of standing on the beach, seeing the moon glistening like mercury on the silken peeling waves. The hiking trails are our 'workouts', and our meditations.
It is the best community to be a part of. There is lots to do if one wants to get involved, and many ways to stay quiet and peaceful.
Stinson Beach has hiking trails that go on and on and on. Really, one could hike to Oregon from here. Depending on the trail of ones choosing, one could hike up and up for hours, or traverse, or bomb down hill. There are fern lined trails, redwoods, creeks all along the way--waterfalls and bridges. Depending on one's choice of trails, there are vistas of the ocean the whole way, or canopies of trees.
And then there are the equivalent of those trails for mountain bikers.
Traveling North from here is Pt. Reyes National Seashore, and the great, fun town of Pt. Reyes--with fabulous stores, restaurants, and bakery. A little further and there is the wine country...and Mendocino. Of course, traveling in the other direction, is San Francisco, just across the GG Bridge. No need to tell you about that beautiful City.
Hiking, biking, kayaking, surfing, walking on the beach...
just to name of few of the things that make Stinson Beach so wonderful.
As far as the Beach Cottage goes: It is just very special. Something about it. Everyone falls in love with it. It is small (600 square ft). impeccably clean--having just been restored--so all newly painted (if not replaced) walls, floors, completely rebuilt bathroom with beautiful Italian glass tile floor. The cottage is sweet, romantic, tranquil, cozy and inviting. We love it, and it brings us so much joy that all of our guests have expressed that they love it too. We hope you will.
We had a great time celebrating our anniversary at this lovely beach cottage. The space was clean, organized, and decorated beautifully, with many amenities. We were able to bring some of our own food and cook our meals there. The cottage is just a few steps away from the beach and a short walk to town, which we really liked. We would stay here again!
Dawn and Barry are the kindest most welcoming hosts I've ever experienced at a VRBO property. Everything was as promised! The bed was super comfortable, and the rest of the cottage was too. The kitchen is best for heating up food that has been prepared elsewhere--but you can definitely make simple meals and coffee or tea. The yard is darling--it rained when I stayed, so I didn't get to hang out there--but it would be great for sitting around the fire pit on summer evenings. The beach is right at the end of the lane--perfect for long walks. Everything in Stinson Beach is close enough to walk to--the grocery store, restaurants, and other shops. I drove up to Pt. Reyes Station--cute little town--beautiful drive through dramatic oak-lined road--fun shopping and good lunch at Cafe Reyes. The Simple Sanctuary makes for an awesome retreat--life slows down and you can enjoy relaxing at the coast--I highly recommend this place!
This property is a perfect place to stay if you're looking for a comfortable and quiet spot. The house was sparkling clean and there were a lot of extra, thoughtful touches. Wish we could have stayed longer!
We had an amazing stay in this sweet cottage. The owners are so thoughtful. The beach is so close. I will be back as soon as I can.
This property gets our highest possible recommendation. We stay in over 30 properties a year as we travel a great deal and this one stands out as the best experience of 2016! First, the location is a very short distance to the ocean - just enough for the sand to drop off a bit before you get to the cottage. The lot on which the cottage is located is superb with an outdoor fire pit, a bbq, lounge chairs, lovely garden with some truly lovely plants, etc. The cottage itself is perfect. Not very large but so well designed and the use of space so well thought out that you feel like you have tons of room. You enter through the large bedroom area (opens to your own private garden) with ample storage for your clothes and suitcases. Television at the foot of the bed encased in a lovely cabinet. Empty drawers for storage. The next room is a combination of kitchenette, dining and living area - all beautifully appointed and comfortable. The kitchenette is well stocked and with the very kind and unexpected provision of some savoury croissants and coffee, breakfast was done! The kitchenette is not intended for "real cooking" - no large oven, no large fridge - but there are great restaurants nearby so why bother cooking - you are on holidays after all ? Bathroom is small but again, perfectly adequate and beautifully done. And again, extremely well stocked. Very accessible parking just outside the property boundary and well marked for your personal use. There is simply nothing more these owners could have done to make our visit better - it was in every respect perfect and we so regretted having to leave. Thankfully there is always next year! Thanks so much to Dawn and Barry - you've set a standard for VRBO that would be hard to match.
Great place, even better hosts who have thought out everything one might need -- from every possible kitchen utensil or a pre-made campfire to beach chairs and fresh cut flowers. Very comfortable and clean two rooms plus bath. Four houses in from the beach, so easy to enjoy early morning or evening walks by the water. Dawn and Barry are friendly and approachable. The only thing we missed was a view of the ocean from inside the house. But proximity to beach kind of made up for that. We highly recommend this spot.
Muir Woods is on the way to Stinson Beach--home of the giant Redwoods.
