Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2.5 Bathroom, 8 Sleeps

Nestled within 2 forested and private acres, Scouts Forest Retreat is truly a unique, luxury mountain getaway experience unlike anything else on VRBO.

Located just 7 miles west of beautiful downtown Whitefish, 8 miles from Tally and Whitefish Lakes, 15 miles from Whitefish Mountain Resort and approx. 30 easy miles to the West entrance of Glacier National Park, nature and the great outdoors await you.

At over 2,100sf, this luxurious 3 bdrm, 2 1/2 bath contemporary custom home comes complete with a gourmet kitchen with brand new appliances, solid hickory kitchen cabinets with black granite countertops, an open floor plan with large dining room, radiant floor heating, and slate floor on lower level and in all bathrooms.

Downstairs, cozy up with a book, watch TV or play games in front of the fireplace (ours is electric - it's a great heat source with no fire hazards or mess to clean up after!). The brand new comfy living room sofa folds out into a queen sleeper (sleeps 2) and there is a nice 1/2 bath. Upstairs, you'll find 2 guest rooms (queen bed sleeps 2, adult twin bunks sleep 2) with adjacent full bath. A spacious master en suite with king bed rounds out the upstairs complete with solid slate shower and jacuzzi tub. Perfect for soaking and unwinding in! If you need to stay connected, you’ll have high-speed wireless internet throughout the house.

The house sleeps up to 8, so if you have a larger group, consider combining with our adjoining Luxury Loft (sleeps 4-6). For more details on that listing see VRBO Listing #660303.

PLEASE NOTE: While the adjoining loft has it's own separate entrance and rooftop deck, it is attached to the house and shares the laundry room space. The loft may be rented out to other guests during your stay and you may hear them from time to time using the laundry room and also enjoying their time at Scouts Forest. House guests have exclusive access to the entire back garden area and this is not shared with the loft space.

Nestled in a wooded wonderland, Scouts Forest truly is a nature lover's paradise. White tail deer, elk, wild turkeys and even an occasional bear or moose visit from time to time. Outside, relax with a glass of wine and enjoy star gazing from your own private, patio deck surrounded by giant rock cliffs and adjacent woods. Our neighborhood is quiet and serene with horse ranches and organic farms next door. If you're looking for a true retreat-style experience with quiet solitude and a wonderful spot to read, write or just relax, this is the place for you. (If you want to host lot's of loud parties, we're sorry, but this is probably not the best choice.)

Outdoor adventure awaits with an abundance of local activities to enjoy. Start with hiking or mountain biking on the trails nearby, dust off those chaps and go horseback riding at an area dude ranch just 5 miles up the road, explore the wonder of nearby Glacier National Park, go whitewater rafting, or take an exhilarating dip in Whitefish or Tally Lake. For the more adventurous, ride a Zip Line through the trees, race on the Alpine Slide or navigate the Aerial Adventure Park on Whitefish Mountain.

If you enjoy shopping, trendy restaurants, spas and a vibrant nightlife, downtown Whitefish is only a short 7 mile jaunt. We'll have a list of places for you to explore, as well as maps upon arrival.

We look forward to welcoming you to as our guests and to all that Montana has to offer!

About Steve and Jennifer

Growing up on a ranch in Montana, Jen cultivated a special affinity for hard work and the great outdoors. She's had lots of fun adventures in the entertainment world as a stage performer, voice-over artist, arts educator, writer and film producer. Steve, hails from lovely Scotland originally, and works as a technology consultant. Jen and Steve met in the Slovakia while Jen was on a Fulbright teaching assignment and proceeded to take a whole year to explore the world together. They were married in 2011 on Lake MacDonald in Glacier National Park (a true Scottish-American wedding!).

Travel is our passion (along with dark chocolate, jack russells, beagles, golf and skiing)! Montana is in our hearts and a place we return to often. We love hosting and sharing this beautiful place with folks from all over the world.

Why Steve and Jennifer chose Whitefish Lake Area

Nestled in a wooded wonderland, Scouts Forest truly is a nature lover's paradise. White tail deer, elk, wild turkeys and even an occasional bear or moose visit from time to time. Outside, relax with a glass of wine and enjoy star gazing from your choice of private patios or roof-top deck, surrounded by giant rock cliffs and adjacent woods. Our neighborhood is quiet and serene with horse ranches and an organic farm next door. If you're looking for a true retreat-style experience with quiet solitude and a wonderful spot to relax and reconnect with those you love, this is the place for you. (If you want to host lots of loud obnoxious parties, we're sorry, this is probably not the best choice.)

What makes this house unique

Outside you can relax on your choice of several patio/seating areas, a deck with a comfortable swing seat, or by a large firepit where you can enjoy evening campfires or s'mores - all set against the backdrop of your own 40ft mountain waterfall. There is also a horseshoe pit and area for lawn games.

Great house, great stay

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful and so well maintained. Really top-notch. Everything in it from the amenities in the kitchen, the artwork on the walls, to the towels in the bathrooms has obviously been chosen with care and good style. The yard and patio area are just as beautiful and a real treat to spend time relaxing on. I highly recommend this house and would definitely stay there again!

Excellent Well Appointed Get Away House

  • 5 of 5

This house turned out to be the perfect house for our family of four (all adults) vacation. The house's is rustic theme throughout added to the get away from it all experience. The furniture is plentiful and very comfortable. The upstairs bedrooms are also well appointed and the beds are super comfortable which makes for a great night sleep after some strenuous hiking in Glacier National Park. The house has a terrific backyard with plenty of chairs and tables, a horse shoe pit and first class grill. The location is very convenient to the restaurants and shops of downtown Whitefish. Jennifer was there when we arrived to make sure everything was in order. The house was ready at check in time and was very clean. I highly recommend this property to all travelling to the Whitefish/Glacier National Park area of Montana.

Hard to say with words how amazing this home is. Exactly as described and more! Highly recommended.

  • 5 of 5

Our family absolutely loved staying here and looks forward to when we can go back! We saved the address in our GPS as "Montana Home Base" and it truly felt like home. Jen and Steve's attention to detail was amazing. They truly went above and beyond. In all of our travels, this is without a doubt, the finest (and our new favorite) place of lodging. The home is beautiful on the inside and outside as well. We literally felt like we were staying at a place that you see in magazines or on HGTV. It really was that nice. It was so enchanting to go to sleep and night and wake up in the morning hearing the calm and soothing sound of the splendid waterfall in the backyard. We like to cook some of our meals when we vacation and my wife was blown away with how well stocked the kitchen was. Obviously, we bought our own food, but every kitchen utensil that we needed was available. We loved the fact that the house is in a secluded and quite area yet very conveniently located near Glacier International Airport, Glacier National Park, and all the other wonderful things to do in the area. We saw a beautiful doe in the backyard and one evening while driving back to our "home away from home" we saw a bald eagle flying proudly overhead. There is a plaque in the kitchen that says, "This is our happy place" and I couldn't agree more. The photos and descriptions are honest and spot-on. Book with confidence and you will not be disappointed!

Beautiful house and location

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful stay Scouts Forest. The house was great, and had everything we needed for making meals at the house. With 4 teenagers staying with us we prepared lots of big meals. The kitchen had all we needed and the grill was perfect. Beds and baths were excellent as well. I cant say enough about how nice the back yard and patio were. We had deer and turkey visit almost daily. We can't wait to return sometime!

Excellent Holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Our week at Scouts Forest was unbelievable - the house is so nice. Excellent furniture, comfortable beds, plenty of room, well stocked, I could go on and on. We had LOTS of snow but no problems getting around and in and out. The Christmas lights and decorations were a MUCH appreciated touch. I would highly recommend this house to anyone.

A perfect stay - thank you!!

Best VRBO Rental!

  • 5 of 5

Wow, we have rented many homes over the years in many other areas of the country, but this was the best. Due to our parents downsizing, we needed to rent our own space in the Whitefish area. We loved the location and house! Steve and Jen are not only delightful to work with, but provide many nice amenities. Furnishings are lovely and there is just enough of everything!

We just cannot say enough good things about our experience at Scouts Forest.
