The property was very difficult to find. We were not given very clear directions, and because of the extremely narrow roads and high hedgerows, we took several wrong turns. If you are from the States and have a GPS in the car, beware. Ours took us down every narrow road, narrower than the one before, and we stumbled upon the house by accident. Our phone did not work, either, which added to our complete frustration.
Although this may sound contradictory, the general location was very good. We especially wanted to see Tintagel Castle (I understand a bridge will make access easier in 2019), and we were close by. We found a nice little co op in Camelford as well.
The bed was comfortable, the furniture was in need of up-dating, but there was adequate seating for several people. The kitchen was fine, the bathroom adequate. The decor was eclectic.
We did appreciate the cookies and milk and tea.
comfortable, warm (in October) and well placed for Bodmin Moor (on doorstep) and the North Coast
A good base for a variety of activities. Surfing, beaches and coastal walks are within a short driving distance. Walks onto to Bodmin Moor and its Tors can be done from the doorstep. The war museum at Davidstow is a good, if quirky, experience. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped It's quite small for a family of 6 but quite manageable with patience, especially if, like us, you're planning to spend a lot of time out and about. Everything worked well, including WIFI. There is a good size garden area which is handy for dog - airing. The one minor thing i would change is that I'd prefer if car parking for all the cottages in the row were to be located at the gravel area at the end. We were in Barn cottage which is able to park two cars right in front of it, which does detract slightly.
Perfect for our Cornwall stay
We were upgraded to Nessa Cabin, rather than Barn Cottage, due to some emergency repairs that required canceling the first night of our stay. But we really appreciated the low cost of this cottage, combined with location (fairly central, easy to reach Bodmin, Eden Project, Tintagel, beaches) and amenities (washer and dryer were great). The kitchen was sufficiently stocked and I appreciated the little touches like milk and butter in the fridge, bread, jam and honey for toast and tea. The internet was excellent considering the rural location and TV worked perfectly. We really enjoyed our stay here!
The rooms were not very dark, I would recommend better room darkening shades (or bring your own). No dishwasher, but we don't make tons of dishes when on vacation, so wasn't a huge problem for us. Beds were comfortable, tons of space in bedrooms.
