About Sarah Close
I'm a regular soccer mom with a grown up college graduated daughter who works and lives nearby, and 12 year old at the local middle school. I grew up in Madison, WI, and have lived in a variety of places in my adult life....most recently moving here from St. John, USVI. We swim, paddle board, surf, bike, run and will knock each other out of the way to get to a treasured piece of sea glass. I rehab houses, sell real estate and manage hotels for a living. We have a big ol' Newfie named Bear....he loves all animals and people, especially the ones that drop food on the floor. He loves the beach as much as the rest of us, and expects to be petted by tourists with abandon.

Why Sarah Close chose Kill Devil Hills
When my daughter began college in Boston, I decided my son and I should move back to the states and be somewhere on the east coast so that we could more easily get together for holidays and family time. So...I bought a car and just started driving up and down the coast until I found a spot that had the right vibe. Yes, really. The natural beauty of the Outer Banks, the warmness of the locals here, and the lack of high rise buildings on the beach sold me. Somewhere along the way, I decided that I only wanted to live in amazing places that people want to vacation in. It was really important to me that I be able to get to the beach without getting in my car. I was also important to me to be close enough to modern conveniences (gas station/grocery store/highway) without having to see or hear them. This little cottage, under the siding, is one of the 1950's concrete block flat topped houses you'll see in this neighborhood. She's solid and sturdy (a little like me I suppose), and seen her share of storms. I'm all about the character and quality of older homes, and making them shine in their best light.
What makes this House unique
This house has some benefits you don't find easily here in the Outer Banks. First of all, it's on the ground! No steps means no hauling luggage, groceries, or beach gear up and down multiple times during your stay. It also has a completely fenced in back yard, which makes it safer for small children and more private for the whole family. It's the perfect size and price point for folks who don't necessarily want to vacation in a 10 bedroom house with a large group of people. Because the house is concrete and on a side street, it's much quieter than most of it's counterparts. I live in this house during the off season, so I think you'll find it far more updated and well thought out than most beach cottages.

Perfect for my little family!
We really enjoyed this cute house just a few steps from the beach and Avalon pier. We could hear the crashing of the ocean waves at night. The home is clean, convenient and had everything we needed for an entire week stay. Kitchen was stocked with all utensils, appliances, stemware, coffee maker and cookware. The yard was ideal for my little doggie and we enjoyed using the grill and hammock. I would definitely recommend and absolutely would stay again.
Beautifully updated beach house with everything you need!
We had a wonderful week of peace and relaxation. The owner has thought of everything. From the moment we walked in we felt like we had made the right decision. The house was incredibly clean. Perfect for our 4 kids and our dog. We felt at home. Minutes walk to the beach. So close we were able to go back and forth with ease. The beach wagon provided was a life saver. The kids loved the yard complete with a shower to get rid of all that sand. We can't wait to stay again!
Comfortable home close to the beach!
Nice, clean and up to date rental! Good location...only 2 and 1/2 blocks to the beach. The master bedroom is large and has a nice walk-in shower and the kitchen is beautiful and has all the essentials. I traveled with my 2 small dogs and they really enjoyed the fenced-in yard and got plenty of exercise. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this rental home to a friend! Christine C.
It was convenient to beach and a nice house.
Good location and very clean.
Loved Avalon Limin'
This house was very comfortable and tastefully updated, in a great location just a couple of short blocks to beach access. The owner was extremely attentive and helpful. We liked that there were no stairs involved for our two elderly dogs. Loved the roomy master bedroom with its own bath. Front patio and back yard great for kids. Nice living area open to well-supplied kitchen. We loved Avalon Limin'!
Great property for dogs
Perfect for our needs as there were three of us with two dogs. We’ve been to outer banks several times and this is the first renting a house and will definitely do it again. The fenced yard was great for our dogs. Plenty of towels and supplies. Had no issues.
Located at milepost 6, Avalon Limin' is an easy block and a half from the beach! The Avalon Pier is right next to the house's beach access, and there are several restaurants within walking distance. Tucked on a quiet street, the local movie theater is less than a mile away...and the Wright Brother's Memorial Museum is just down the road about 2 miles. Very convenient to the best that the Outer Banks has to offer.
