About Ken Collings

We have been coming to Rincon to surf & vacation since 1977. After exploring locales from the Bahamas to Europe & Hawaii to Australia, nowhere do we feel so relaxed & at home as in Rincon. Having grown up on & around the ocean & raising our family on Cape Cod, we cherish every moment we spend in this magical place. We hope you can come discover & enjoy as well!

Ken Collings purchased this house in 2004

Why Ken Collings chose Ensenada

We have always loved the Ensenada area of Rincon because it's the perfect spot to be close to all the best surf breaks on the West/Southside or Carribean Sea side of the Point. The nicest local people you will ever meet. A quiet, family neighborhood, plus walking distance to great restaurants, the dive shop and even town. Our side of the Point tends to be less windy than the Northside, yet always offers a nice breeze.

What makes this house unique

The Tres Palmas Marine Reserve is right out in front of the house! This protected area off of Steps Beach offers fabulous snorkeling! Please view our Listing Video! See endangered turtles, schools of tropical fish, sometimes Dolphin and Whale sightings. Many consider Steps Beach THE BEST beach around. A roof top sunset from Casa Palmas looking out over the big wave break of Tres Palmas can be very awe inspiring!!

From Germany to Rincon!!

Being on the huge balcony after dinner, up in the palms with the sounds of the coqui was heavenly! We were just a few minutes by foot to the beach where we relaxed all day long. Would love to go back. Thanks, Ken.

Coqui frogs at night, roosters in the morning

  • 5 of 5

Six of us stayed upstairs, after canceling the bottom half of the house due to a family of four in our group canceling. Owners were very accommodating and found other renters for the bottom apartment. The upstairs was clean and perfectly furnished. We had everything we needed from an ironing board, and hair dryer, to all kitchen appliances. The patio off the living room is a perfect place to relax if you're not out surfing, snorkeling, or eating. Perfect location--very close to Steps Beach and Carta Buena, walking distance to Marina Beach, Shipwreck and La Copa Llena. We love the peaceful neighborhood of Ensenada and would love to stay in this house on our next visit to Rincon.

Casa Palmas/My Favorite

  • 5 of 5

Been coming to Rincon since 2005 and have stayed all over. Hotels, houses, apartments. Casa Palmas is my favorite by far. This year was my 3rd time staying. Both upstairs and down are great. One year we came just after Christmas with close friends and they stayed upstairs while we stayed down. The apartments are very private. Close to everything. Walking distance to swimming beach, snorkeling and great food. The best....

Relax, kick back and enjoy warm sunshine

  • 5 of 5

We occupied the downstairs casita for 2 weeks. 2 bedrooms was plenty of space for us. Second BR is small has 2 single beds. There is a large LR and outside covered patio with dining table and more seating. Very nice eat-in kitchen with necessary cookware in good condition, gas stove & good amount of counter space. No dishwasher except for husband! One bathroom for all. Outdoor shower with hot & cold. Iguanas and Coquis frogs which we loved! We cooked breakfast and lunches and walked downtown for dinner, or bought meals from the numerous Food Trucks parked nearby. Nice outdoor room adds to the livable area. Coconut trees and lovely landscaping really makes the casita a wonderful island place to stay. Next year we are considering to do without rental car as you can walk to just about everything and the car stayed parked most of the time.

Christmas at Casa Palmas

  • 5 of 5

This was our first Christmas away from home and it was the perfect destination and the perfect house. Lots to do for those that wanted to be active, a breezy upstairs terrace to relax and a rooftop terrace to bask in the sun. It was a 5 minute walk to the beach with restaurants and water activities in easy walking distance. We surfed, snorkeled and went horseback riding in the mornings and relaxed in the afternoons.

Rincon was lovely and had wonderful restaurants to choose from. The owner Ken was terrific to work with; very accommodating and happy to offer suggestions. He referred us to a farm-to-market caterer who prepared Christmas dinner for 12 which we enjoyed outside on the terrace.

My one suggestion to those staying at Casa Palmas, you really should rent a car, even to explore much of Rincon. Uber shows to be active in Rincon, yet a car was never available. Taxis are also difficult to come by, although we lucked out and were driven by Yvette the first night we arrived and we kept her number the remainder of trip in case we needed transportation for more than 5 people. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation and I highly recommend Rincon and Casa Palmas!

a fantastic stay!

  • 4 of 5

Our stay at this rental was truly fantastic.. the weather was amazing, the sunset every night was memorable. It was great to be able to walk along the beach to Copa Llena restaurant at the end of the day to watch the sunset and enjoy the food/relax.

our kids didn't appreciate the reef in front of the house as much as I'd hoped however, it was lovely none the less.

my only complaint may be that there's only 1 toilet for 5 people which was inconvinent at times. However, the outdoor shower was really nice and relieved the stress of having only one bathroom for 5 people.

We'd definitely enjoyed our stay at this rental.
