You’re going to love visiting this house year ‘round. It has a beautiful updated kitchen with a large 5-burner gas stove, double oven, and concrete counter tops. There are hardwood floors throughout, and a retro mid-mod bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have queen-size beds, and the back bedroom has two twin-size beds. The house has a covered back porch and patio area with a cozy back yard and a beautiful perennial garden in the front. Pick your own fresh raspberries, peaches, and plums in the summer.
My husband and I purchased this house as newlyweds and moved down the street when we needed more space for baby #2. I've called Colorado home for 24+ years, as has my husband.
Theresa purchased this house in 2008
We're in love with Wheat Ridge. Where else in the Denver area can you be 10 minutes from downtown and still feel like you're in a small town? The area was orchards and farms until becoming the Italian suburbs in the 1950's. There is a strong sense of community and people here love the urban homesteading aspect of our town while still being able to take advantage of the city. There are two amazing business districts with restaurants and shops in Denver just 5 minutes away, as well as some wonderful little businesses right around the house.
Liquor store right out the back door. Amazing home-made Italian sausage and pasta a few doors down. Hang out on the front porch and enjoy the garden and some sun shine, or tuck into the back porch for a little grilling and wine. Say hello to the super-friendly neighbors!
All the little touches and things you could want were right at your fingertips. It feels like staying at a (very clean) friends house. We would love to enjoy this property again should we make it back out to the Denver area. Great Breakfast spots nearby!
We are a family of four: two adults and nine year old twins. On our trip, we stayed at several properties, this one being the last. As reference for the review, our stay happened to be one of the hottest weeks in Denver, with every day in the 90's. We also had just come from another property that was pristine and well cared for.
The owners of this property live nearby and were responsive to our needs. The owners have a swamp cooler in the living room and a window AC unit in the master bedroom. The other bedrooms were stuffy by the end of the day. When we asked for a fan for the room our kids were sleeping in, and an extension cord to allow us to better move the swamp cooler around, they came that night and delivered what looked to be a brand new fan. It looked like they had gone to the store and bought it that evening.
While the owners were responsive, the property does show its age and it could use some TLC. The gardens out front are nice, but overgrown and untended. The same is true of the backyard. For a family with kids, there isn't a lot that the outside of the property offers. An improvement would be to tend the gardens and possibly hang some wasp traps since there were a lot of yellow jackets flying around.
On the inside, the plus were the comfortable beds. It's clear that the property was remodeled at some point, since there are new touches throughout, especially the kitchen. But again, there are things that could be improved, e.g.
- the front screen door didn't latch at all, so we didn't feel that safe with just it open.
- a small desk lamp was the primary source of light in the 2nd bedroom for night reading, but the lamp was wobbly and old.
- instead of a dresser in this room, there was a desk which isn't that useful for travelers.
- the chain for the fan in that same bedroom pulled off at the connection repeatedly and the fan seemed to have only high speeds and off.
- the AC unit in the master bedroom worked fine for the first 2 days, then stopped cooling reliably.
- no trash cans in any of the bedrooms. A small point, but it would be helpful.
- one of the chairs in the kitchen was very wobbly so we swapped with one in the utility room.
In summary, the owners are responsive and they've put effort into this property, but based on our stay, it still needs more work. Other properties felt cared for and made us feel the same. This one felt like a rental property needing attention.
This home was perfect for our family! We traveled as a party of 3 adults, a six year old, and an 18month old. I loved that I didn't need to worry about stairs or gates. No breakable knick knacks to stress over. The owners kindly set up a play pen and booster seat for us and also left a sweet array of toys. There was a lovely basket of fruit and snacks as a welcome gift. The location was very convenient - lots to do within a 15 min drive, which made it easy to come home for midday nap and then go back out again. There was a small plaza behind the house but the fence and trees covered it well. The neighborhood was very quiet considering how close we were to a main road. There was a playground at Panorama Park within easy walking distance. The beds were very comfortable, the entire home was very clean. The swamp cooler and single window AC kept the place very comfortable even during many 90degree days we were there. The yard was small but perfectly adequate and fully fenced making it a great place for the kids to hang out. The main bath was dated but clean, and having the half bath and laundry was great. Our family truly enjoyed our stay and I would highly recommend this property to any one but especially to those traveling with kids!
My husband and 2 kids and I stayed here for a week. It was perfect. Great size, great price. Perfect location for our trips into Denver, Boulder, and Golden. I definitely highly recommend this property.
A good sized house which was very well equipped. It was clean and close to local amenities. The front garden was full of flowers. There was a lovely bulging food and drink hamper waiting for us which was a very sweet gesture. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of bedding and towels. Theresa was helpful and accommodated our needs. She always responded very promptly to our questions.
We had a wonderful experience here! Theresa was so friendly and easy to get in contact with and was easy to coordinate check in and check out with! She also left us an amazing gift basket full of goodies for when we arrived. House was super clean, with a beautiful kitchen, in a really pretty neighborhood that was nice to walk in the morning. Hot water also always lasted through 6 people in the morning which is a huge plus too! Thanks for having us 😊😊
