After traveling the world in the military and corporate environment, we found there was no place as beautiful, peaceful and enchanting as our home on Guemes Island.
Four acres of waterfront property on a no-bank sandy beach directly at your front door. South facing cottage brings all day sun, beautiful sunrise over Mt. Baker and sunsets over the San Juan Islands. Walk to the nearby store, rent a bicycle to take you to Mt. Guemes and a 1.5 mile hike to the summit where you will enjoy a 360 degree view of the San Juan Islands. During Spring and Summer the property comes alive with beautiful flowers, blossoming trees, the sounds of birds and other wildlife. Perfect time for sunbathing and beach-combing. Enjoy afternoon wine in the Secret Garden. A mooring buoy is available at your front door and you can cook your Dungeness crab catch and steamer clams in your own private outdoor kitchen. Fall and Winter can bring stormy weather, dynamic ferry rides and perfect days for beach-combing or reading by a cozy fire.
For the years we have travel to Guemes this property far exceeded our expectations! The proximity to the beach, ferry and store is wonderful - not to mention the beautiful mornings and evening sitting on the deck enjoying the boats, mountains and the ocean which is right in front on the deck. The homeowners have taken great care inside and out! Every room is well appropriated - you will be pleasantly surprised and everything you need is in each beautifully decorated room. The owners are wonderful and we really were disappointed to leave this amazing property! You will not be disappointed!
Jan and Dick have done an amazing job of providing for every need and want for a relaxing retreat. They are welcoming and accommodating when you need them and invisible when you don't. The beach cottage itself is lovingly appointed, appropriately stocked and perfectly situated for beach-front fun, from beach combing, to reading on the deck, to building sandcastles to just watching the world float by. The nearby store (2 blocks away) has the basic things you might forget and the attached restaurant has a delicious local and seafood menu. I can't imagine a better spot and can't wait to return.
We are packing up for another visit to the Iverson's cottage on Guemes Island. We stayed at this delightful gem in June and knew we must make a return trip this summer. Jan and Dick, our hosts, are such a welcoming couple. Jan has an amazing eye for decorating. The cottage is comfortable, immaculate, charming with fascinating touches. The setting is lovely and the beach just steps away. It is a perfect, relaxing get away. You are guarenteed to having a truelly pleasant stay. We leave tomorrow and can't wait to relax and enjoy.
We came to stay with another couple visiting from Colorado. This was the perfect little vacation retreat - right on the water. The owners graciously greeted us and showed us around when we arrived. What a lovely couple! The little touches they have added to this beautifully decorated cabin made it feel like an elegant home. Each touch felt in place and made a comfortable atmosphere. The beds and linens were comfortable and made for a great nights sleep. The living room and kitchen had everything we needed and even more to make us comfortable. And the back porch! We spent most of our time sitting on the porch just feet from the shore soaking up the sun and enjoying the ocean breeze and crashing waves. Such a treat! We would and will recommended this retreat to anyone.
We had a great Mother, Mother, Daughter retreat at this lovely cottage by the sea. Dick and Jan were great hosts. The cottage has absolutely everything you need. The water side deck is a lovely place to spend the day. You could not be any closer to the beach. Don't come to Guemes if you are looking for night life. This is a very quite beautiful Island. Can't wait to come back.
Purchased a Bed & Breakfast package at Hospice of the Northwest Charity Auction. Hosts Dick & Jan made us feel more that welcome. Sleeping with the windows open and listening to the ocean was awesome. Cottage is so interesting just to sit in and enjoy the pristine quietness and surroundings. Exceptionally clean and appointed, to make it feel like your own home. Really trying to get them to donate another weekend. Highly recommended.
