In a charming Village dating back 800 years lies this wonderful Rapunzel's Cottage. The cottage is a sweet family home located in a wonderful village my banker called 'Chic; Very Chic!'
The village is home to perhaps 150 Calesions; a friendly group who love the peace and tranquility of France.
The home is attractively decorated in the cottage style and dotted with antiques found in numerous vide Greniers. It is both comfortable and charming.
There are two restaurants in Cales including the popular Le Petit Relaix which is steps away and serves some of the finest regional meals in the area. Rocamadour is 12 K, Sarlat 30, La Cave 5 and Souillac 13. All have numerous places to dine.
Cales sits high on the final finger of the Causse de Gramat and is surrounded by Le Parc Natural Regional des Causses; a wonderful wild and beautiful area of the Midi Pyrenees.
There is much to see and do in the nearby villages and towns. Shop at bustling fresh produce markets ( a foodie's haven), seek out a bargain at a Brocante or Vide Grenier. Visit the Josephine Baker Chateau or the various historical Chateau of the Dordogne; the gardens of Eyrignac or Marqueyssac and and the historic caves of Lesceaux and Pech Merle. Above all you must take the scenic road from Cales to Rocamadour and tour the village often listed as one of the most visited sites in France.
Enjoy walking, including parts of the Route Saint Jacques de Compostelle or the GR6; hiking, climbing or biking the area. And, don't forget that the Dordogne River is an ideal place to swim, kayak or canoe and round trip excursions are offered everywhere.
This is the vacation area of the French and you will forever bring up your tales of excursions of your visits to this historic area. The memories are heightened by the sensory sights, sounds and beauty of the region.
Come join us and learn to love the region, the people and the food.
Reviews have always been very positive with all 5,s and a 4. The only negative ever mentioned was that the village did not have a lot of night life? No; not a lot of night life but a beautiful, peaceful village with lots of stars and clean air!

My family has been coming to France for over 60 years and I finally bought our lovely cottage in 2005. I purchased in Cales because it was and is still the cleanest and prettiest of all the beautiful villages of France. The area is wonderful; the people are not only great but kind and very patient with me and my terrible French. The area is absolutely full of wonderful sights and adventures which will require much more time than you have. You will leave with a trove of wonderful memories and never forget Cales and its people.

Peace and quiet
A traditional three storey house in a beautiful and peaceful village in easy range of any number of tourist attractions or just a short drive to a peaceful spot by the river.
Next door the Petit Relais hotel has a fantastic restaurant with helpful and friendly staff including the owner Karine who "looks after" the house for John.
Communications with John were quick and friendly including several phone calls.
A perfect place for a total getaway from it all break.
Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans le Lot. Il y a une multitude de choses à faire avec ou sans enfants ! Notre hôte a été d'un très bon accueil. Il a été très réactif et avenant malgré la distance ! Merci
Very close to the GR 6 and an easy hike to the famous village of Rocamadour. Rocamadour is reached by traveling along the Michelin Guide rated Scenic Route for 13 K. Great biking and a beautiful drive.
