A true home away from home
Roomy home with abundant amenities. Our group had eight people, and we all fit comfortably. The three bathrooms were a definite plus plus. We were 48 miles from Anchorage and in close range to many hot fishing spots. We all thoroughly appreciated that Sara, the owner, was always only a phone call away. A great place to rejuvenate before a cramped plane ride home, dug the BBQ. Would stay again.
Above and beyond!
I cannot say enough good things about our experience renting this home. The home is beautiful, newly updated, spacious and in a great location. It was literally a perfect launch pad from which my groomsmen and I could explore Alaska. The host was prodigiously accomodating...I have both traveled and hosted on VRBO and AirBnb myself and I can say with some authority that she was the best host I have ever come across. She pulled strings to make sure all of the items we needed for the wedding arrived at the house on time. She was kind enough to let us use items that were in house instead of buying our own, she was always quick to respond with advice on activities or responding to questions regarding the property. I was very impressed with her professionalism. My friends and I will never forget the week we had at this home and attribute a lot of that memory to our gracious host. Thank you!
We loved it!
We were there for our wedding in Wasilla. This is a beautiful property. The only thing I wish that there were, were TV's in the bedrooms. And I didn't know the owner's lived on property full time, which was fine, I was just kind of surprised. Other than that, I think this is a beautiful home, and my wedding party and I enjoyed it! I would definitely stay here again!
very spacious, comfortable home
We had 6 adults stay and there was more than enough room for all. 3 bathrooms was a huge plus so each couple had their own bathroom. There were only darkening shades in the master bedroom but Sara supplied us with eye shades which was helpful for those who needed them. Sara was also wonderful about answering questions and offering ideas of things to do in the area.
It's a great place to stay at, nice and clean. Only downside was the jacuzzi outside wasn't working and the Internet kept cutting of on us. Other than that, if I do come back to Alaska, I would stay here again!
Didn't really have that Alaska feel
5 of us spent from the 17th to the 21st of July in this house. We used it as our base to explore hiking trails in the area. The house is very nice but it lacked the Alaska feel we were looking for. The master bedroom is the only available bedroom on the main floor, the other two rooms that I assume were bedrooms, were locked. There are two bedrooms downstairs and an inflatable mattress propped against the wall in the sauna. One of our party just opted to sleep on the couch in the living room since there was not an actual 4th bedroom available.
We discovered rather quickly that there is only enough hot water for one or maybe two quick showers at a time so we scheduled shower times. There is a great jetted tub in the master bath but when the hot water ran out there was barely 3 inches of water, which is not enough to reach the jets, so I'm not sure how the jets could be used. There is also a really neat gas fireplace in the wall between the master bath and the master bedroom. Even in July it would have been nice on a couple of nights but we couldn't get it to work reliably. There is a hot tub on the back deck but it had about 2 inches of dirty water in it. The heater appeared to be on but we were not sure why. It would have been great after a long day of hiking.
Also know that if you stay here during the summer you better be able to sleep in the daylight because the window coverings do not block much light.
There was a pickup parked in the driveway the whole time we were there and at first we thought someone was home but the house was empty. There is a two car garage that was empty so we were not sure why the truck was there. All in all, the house met our needs but we would not rent the property again.
