We purchased Casa Oura as a family holiday home. The villa is available all year round and all the seasons have their own unique aspects.
Colin purchased this Villa in 2013
Why Colin chose Areia
The Eastern Algarve is one of the few places left where traditional Portuguese life still exists. It may be far from the crowds but still within easy access to the fantastic beaches, golf courses, walking trails, shopping facilities, restaurants, and all sorts of amenities all within a few minutes driving. The villa has a special atmosphere and a wonderful ambiance, you will immediately relax and feel at home in the sun. It is family friendly, is exceptionally private and has a great pool and grounds.
What makes this Villa unique
We love shopping at the Saturday market in Olhao. The meat, fish, fruit and vegetables are so fresh and comparatively cheap. Watching the beautiful and vibrant sunsets combined with alfresco dining on the terrace is a magical experience. Mar shopping on the intersection of the A22 ( junction 15) and N125. There are 110 shops and a designer outlet. This is shopping.......clothing and prices not available in the UK..........ideal for a long weekend away when flights are cheaper in the off-peak season. The local beaches are fantastic with many different choices, Fuzeta, Deserta, Armona, Barrill all of them need to be seen to be believed. Above all it is just such a pleasant overall experience, one well worth doing...!!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
We have had a lovely time in this perfect villa, it has everything you could wish for, a lovely veranda and pool area, Colin the owner is more than helpful, also Mario the caretaker was there and super efficient if we needed him, I cannot recommend this villa enough, we have stayed in many villas and this has truly been one of the best, thanks again Colin and Mario, regards Alison and Nigel
Ill Prepared Villa
We have just spent a week in Casa Oura, Portugal in what was the poorest and most unprepared villa / accommodation we have ever been in.
We arrived on Wednesday 24th October at 10am and were met in the villa at 12pm by Mario. He told us that the pool was not ready as there were storms in the previous days. He came on the Thursday and cleaned the pool which was ready at 4pm. We had missed the use of the pool on two beautiful days of sunshine.
We were told that the Air Conditioning system did blow hot air but had not been tested. When Mario could not get it to work, he left and returned later in the evening, changed the battery and still couldn’t get it to work. He said he would get someone to look at it the following day. He gave us heaters to use instead and left at 8pm.
Mario said that the fire had not been checked and that he was unsure if the chimney was set in such a way as to extract the smoke. He said he had to get drier wood even though Colin said there was plenty of wood available. Mario said he would return the following day to check it. When it was lit, smoke poured into the room and he suggested that we were not to use it. The fire stayed lit late into the evening and we had to keep the doors open.
I had e-mailed Colin, the owner in relation to heat. He replied and stated that the Air Con should blow hot air even though it had never been used for this. He also stated that there was a fire burner which we could use and a shed full of logs which we could also use. It was on this information that we booked this villa as we were assured that there would be heat available in the evenings. However, this was not the case and the first two days of our holidays were spent watching Mario and two other strangers trying to sort out the Air Con, the fire and the pool. Why weren’t these issues checked and resolved before our arrival? We lost the first two days of our holidays because that villa was not fully prepared for guests.
There was no Wifi available on our first day either.
On the last full day of our holidays, we had no electricity. Mario came and spent several hours trying to solve the problems. He said that the owner is in the process of upgrading the old electrical system. As far as we have been made aware, they are in the middle of upgrading the electrical system. Therefore, this property was not ready for rental. However, we were left on the final day of our holiday with no light, heat or water for most of the day. We had now lost
Whilst I do appreciate and sympathise with the guests , I feel obliged to formulate my response as genuine and authentic.
Problems with the property, the internet and the electricity supply do occur occasionally, as although only ten minutes from the coast it is in the countryside. This is one of the main reasons that make it so peaceful and relaxing.
Rainfall, storms and the occasional mini tornado are not uncommon at this time of year, so please bear this in mind when travelling in late in the year.
Sometimes the results can be devastating, we only have to recall the dreadful flooding in the region in October 2017
The problems with the chimney, the pool, the electrics and hence the internet and lighting were all unfortunately all caused by the poor weather prior to the guests arriving.
It caused short circuits and outages with the electrics. None of these problems would have been evident in the sunny summer, and nothing to do with old wiring as the villa was only built in 2008.
Emails will also confirm that the property was not booked under any pretexts regarding heating of any description. One day it was so hot a swim in the pool was needed and the next a fire and extra heating was required…?
It would have been impossible to resolve all the issues that compounded in a limited timescale. Mario certainly acted admirably and did his best. He is one of the most helpful people I know and many guests have been more than impressed by him. The guest book in the villa is full of countless good reviews and praise.
We have genuinely tried to increase what we have on offer here year after year. The number of returning guests we have had is surely a testament to this.
We will continue this strategy into the future.
Beautiful and tranquil.
Casa Oura was a delightful experience! It was secluded but not far away from many markets, beaches and cities. The pool was fantastic. We did a few backyard BBQ's in the evening after excursions. It was always lovely to come back to after our outings. Everything was updated and clean. Colin; the property owner, was extremely helpful with information about the property, directions and the Algarve. Mario was always available with any assistance if needed. Thank you both!! 'Obrigada' Toni
I always hope my guests have a great experience.
Bless you and thank you my American friends.
Please find the time to come back one day....
My best wishes to you and your family.
Regards and more.

Secluded villa with large garden and lovely pool area
Casa Oura is situated in quiet countryside but only a short drive from the airport, good supermarkets, the local village, restaurants and roads enabling you to visit different places in the area. The villa was clean and well equiped with everything you may need for a relaxing holiday. The pool area is lovely and gets the sun all day. On recommendation of previous guests we visited Gunthers Restaurant and found the food and service absoluetly excellent. We would recommend the villa to anyone who wish to spend a relaxing time in the sun but also want a good base to go out and explore the local area.

Lovely peaceful and secluded villa
Villa is set in large grounds in a quiet and peaceful location a few miles from the coast and airport. Good facilities including a pool, table tennis, football, darts etc, all of which we made full use of. We found the house a good base from which to explore the local area (not that we strayed far from the beach) and would happily visit again.
Thanks.......glad you all enjoyed the villa.
Electricity is metered at 6 euros per day, this standard will be sufficient for most of our guests. ( intensive use of the air conditioning will incur extra usage )
Bore hole water, safe to drink but acquired taste, bottled water recommended. Cleaning teeth is ok.
2 x fold up single beds for use elsewhere.
All rooms have fitted retractable fly screens and external aluminium shutters
