Why Alison Woods chose Port of Menteith
This property because you probably won't find better views from a self catering cottage anywhere in the National Park. Kestrel has been recently refurbished and it's simply gorgeous. We have always had excellent reviews.
What makes this Cottage unique
The views, the hikes direct from your door, the absolute peace and tranquility, the wood burner in the winter and much more. Matthew offers off road buggy tours around the farm.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Beautiful little cottage, tastefully furnished with all modern amenities.
Beautiful, cosy cottage, great view - perfect escape for two in great location
Cottage is beautifully presented with lovely log burner. Plenty of info provided in cottage on things to do/walks and Alison and Matthew were friendly and helpful. We took advantage of the ‘dine in’ option venison stew which was delicious. Loads of places nearby to visit. Would love to come again and will be recommending to friends and family.
Thrilled with this review - thank you. So happy that you took advantage of the ‘dine in’ menu and that you enjoyed Matthew’s Venison stew; which has been so popular this Autumn. It was perfect weather for you to make the most of the wood burner and spend some quality time in Kestrel. Very much hope that you can return one day to Nether Glenny and we will be delighted to welcome you should you do so. Warm regards, Alison
Relaxing and Scenic
Amazing cottage, Matthew and Alison were very helpful. Matthew had to rescue us from the snow when we got stuck. He did this even though he was very ill, their hospitality was second to none, would definitely recommend this cottage.
Lovely to meet you both and your super little dog. I was only too happy to help you out and Alison and I are really happy that you enjoyed your stay. Maybe we will meet you again one day, you'd be most welcome to come back to Kestrel. Best wishes from both of us.
Will definitely be back.
excellent cottage, beautiful views, friendly owners
very clean and relaxing cottage, great views, friendly owners who just leave you to enjoy the peace and quiet.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Kestrel cottage. It was very nice to meet you. Very best wishes, Alison and Matthew.
Most picturesque location
Kestrel cottage is absolutely stunning. We had a wonderful stay and I have to say the cleanliness of the property was 2nd to none.
The bed was extremely comfortable and linen of good quality for both the main bed and the pull out sofa bed.
The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was the lack of directions, it's really difficult to find and the property is actually called something else on the signposts, it took us nearly an hour to find after many calls. There is a lack of info on the booking site as all we got was a google location (which was quite far out from the actual location).
We only had 2 small shower gels as toiletries and there was 3 of us so glad we brought our own. A nice touch would be to provide some shampoo & conditioner and some bar soap to wash hands. We were provided with a lovely pack of shortbread and tea and coffee which was a nice touch. I have recommended to the hosts that the directions are poor and they are looking to improve which is all we can ask for.
Would definitely return.
Hello Natalie, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. I wanted to make it clear that our directions state very clearly that the sat nav does not bring you to our location. We are a rural location and this most definitely adds to the charm. The signs state Nether Glenny farm. There is a sign at the bottom of the hill and more on your way up the hill to Nether Glenny. Every guest receives detailed directions to Nether Glenny which they should have to hand in order to bring you easily to your cottage. You will be glad to know that there are many more signs now.
Also our Scottish Fine Soap products are an added luxury and most self catering properties don't include them. They are little gifts from us to you and not meant to be a substitute for your own toiletries during your self catering experience.
Best wishes, Alison and Matthew
