About Julie Szmania

A Seattle girl met a German chef walking their dogs in Magnolia's Discovery Park in 1988. They fell in love, married, had 3 handsome, active sons, opened a legendary restaurant in Magnolia Village and settled into their wonderful neighborhood. Along the way, they opened a restaurant in Kirkland, then manufactured a line of salad dressings - sold both those companies and bought a 20 acre farm in Cashmere WA. Not to rest for too long, they remodeled that 100+ year old historic farmhouse, added a vineyard and some chickens and started making wine. In 2014 they sold their restaurant and bought an amazing property in Wenatchee. Called Warm Springs Inn & Winery, it's situated on the banks of the Wenatchee River and is a gorgeous B&B, wedding & event venue with wine tasting room and English gardens. We just couldn't part with our home in Seattle, so decided to share it with wonderful visitors - just like our farm. Makes us all happy to share such great property with people from around the world.

Julie Szmania purchased this house in 1995

Why Julie Szmania chose Briarcliff

This home is amazing because it's unique, as it's a comfortable family home where people can meet, stay, relax, unwind and enjoy the pleasures of Seattle while feeling the comforts of home. It's not pretentious - it's meant to put people at ease. The house loves children and accommodates friendly pets. It's meant to be lived in - and enjoyed. Every season, even the rainy ones, are cozy there. And the summers in Seattle can't be beat!

What makes this house unique

When you walk in the front door, you can immediately see why we love this home. The floor plan is perfect for entertaining and people of all ages enjoy and spread out in the large rooms and have ample space to enjoy. Makes for great dinner and sunset parties on the deck. A large BBQ is available as well. You can watch the kids play on the sport court while enjoying a bottle of wine above. Stairs go from the upper deck to the yard below.

Beautiful property in a great location.

  • 4 of 5

We were visiting Seattle for my sisters wedding. Although we were a little far from the wedding in Everett, the house location was wonderful for visiting downtown Seattle and not too bad to get to Everett. The house was ideal for us because we were able to get most of our family together in one place and there was plenty of room for everyone and great views.. All the beds were comfortable and the house was ideal for family dinners etc.The neighborhood was also beautiful with plenty of places for walking and hiking. We would definitly recommend this property.

Situated within blocks of the largest park in the city of Seattle, Magnolia is blessed with incredible 360 degree views from the Olympic Mountains to Mt. Rainier, the Puget Sound and Seattle skyline. Just by spinning in place you have the most gorgeous scenery in the city - all within a short bus ride or 10 minute drive to downtown Seattle.

This 1937 traditional brick home is situated in the best area of Magnolia. All underground wiring and clean, wide streets with ample free parking everywhere, it is an ideally quiet and safe neighborhood with short commutes and upscale living.

Yard lots are large and beautifully landscaped - people in Magnolia take much pride in their gardens and lawns. Our home has two apple trees, a plum tree, lavender lilac, fig tree and black currant bushes. Also a huge bay leaf tree - all next to the pickle ball court with outdoor lighting and 2 basketball hoops for fun.
