About The Owner

I am a retired firefighter from El Paso Texas, my wife is a teacher and a life time El Pasoan. I am originally from Washington State, close to the Canadian border. I moved to the southern border 35 years ago and have missed the green mountains of my youth. But I also grew to love the Southwest with its rich Hispanic culture. Cloudcroft was the perfect mix of both worlds. Our children all love the outdoors, they are all avid mountain bikers, snowboarders and skiers. We love the Family atmosphere and small town values that Cloudcroft offers. We love nature and all always in awe of how beautiful Cloudcroft is, it is so close to the big cities, yet it is full of unspoiled beauty. Cloudcroft has been our perfect destination for winter fun and to escape the heat of the desert in the summer.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2014

Why The Owner chose Cloudcroft

We felt that this cabin was the perfect property for a family getaway. We felt it was in the perfect location and we were excited to be able to purchase it and get involved in the remodeling project which reflected our personalities. It is located right in the Heart of Cloudcroft. You can walk to Burro Street and enjoy one of the many fun events which are held in Cloudcroft every year. The house is right at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and borders the national forest. You can literally step across our property line and walk down the hill to the trailhead of the Osha Trail. It is one of the prettiest nature tails you will can find in the region. The trail is 2.7 miles long with a 320 foot vertical gain a gentle hike for all ages. You hike through alpine meadows, aspen groves and thick forest. You can find a variety of wildlife such as deer, elk and wild turkey, even wild mustangs! The views are fantastic. Step inside our cabin and you will immediately see why we chose this perfect setting for our getaway.

What makes this cabin unique

One of the greatest benefits of our cabin is that it is like new and economical to rent. The whole family can enjoy a self contained three bedroom home with kitchen for less than a hotel bed would cost you in most areas. It is located close in to enjoy the Cloudcroft events, yet right next to the beautiful Lincoln National Forest.

Cozy with great potential!!!!

  • 4 of 5

This is a nice little cabin, very cozy. It has the potential of being VERY inviting and comfortable! We are a family of 5, including our Boxer dog, T. The couch was awesome and the kids loved it because it was big and comfy, especially with the fireplace and the nice TV and NETFLIX. Although the internet was very unpredictable and had to be reset a few times as it kept freezing up and was unresponsive. Our arrival was after dark (around 8:00PM) and it was cold out, we were exhausted, and ready to crawl in our beds and go to sleep. We were never sent the lockbox code via email so I had to call the owner to retrieve it. From a hospitality standpoint, it would have been AWESOME for the property management to have gone to the rental prior to our arrival and turn on the porch light and some inside lights and turn on the heat to a reasonable level. It was freezing inside and there were no lights on. Once we got it warmed up and found the light switches, we were good. The two queen beds were OK, the twins were not. I ended up sleeping on one of them with my toddler and it was very uncomfortable. The kitchen was useful and open, great selection of dishes! We used the BBQ grill one night, that is a nice amenity with the cabin. The washer and dryer were also an awesome amenity, however, the dryer has a bearing out and makes a horrible sound when drying clothes. We waited until we went out to start the dryer! The bathrooms were really nice, and the master shower was big and spacious. We had enough bath towels for everyone but there was only ONE washcloth and no bath rugs for when you stepped out of shower. The owners of this property were always very nice and responded quickly to our messages. All these things that would have made this a wonderful stay are minimal and could be easily fixed! We would stay here again!

This is a very nice place to stay.

  • 4 of 5

This is a very nice place to stay in Cloudcroft. We liked that it is in a cul-de-sac and within a short walking distance to the main village and the Osha hiking trail. The bedrooms are roomy and comfortable. The kitchen is very nicely equipped and it's a plus with the washer and dryer. There is only one small thing that we would have liked to have been available - bath mats for each shower.

Great place to go to get away from "city" life. My boys enjoyed being able to see deer close up

  • 4 of 5

Was a lil flustered not being able to find lock box code but otherwise a good return visit experience. It was great to have everyone around the fireplace in the living room and a walk thru town is always enjoyed.
