Awesome location, tidy apartment, great pool, friendly staff

We had 8 nights in the condo and had an awesome holiday. The highlight was definitely the location (smack in the centre of Playa del Carmen and walking distance from all the main tourist areas and also the supermerket, ferry pier, shopping malls etc). The pool was also terrific, beach was lovely (and less crowded than the beach on the other side of the pier) the apartment block itself was clean and tidy and visible security staff made it feel safe too. Staff were helpful and check in was quick and easy. My only suggestions for improvement would be the kitchen amenities in the room. There is no kettle so to make a cup of tea you have to percolate the coffee machine (without the coffee) to get hot water. There are only four each of the plates, bowls, cutlery etc. There are no spoons, only tea spoons. And very basic cookware. So for self catering it is pretty limited and we found that a bit annoying (we love eating out, but would prefer not to for three meals every single day). Amenities throughout the rest of the apartment are fine (towels, bathroom amenities etc). Though a box of tissues in the bathrooms would have been nice. One of our daughters slept on the fold out couch (as the second bedroom is a double, so not big enough for them to share comfortably). There were sheets in the room to make it up with, but they don't tuck in (because of the couch design), so a fitted sheet would have been useful, plus an extra blanket or bedding for the couch. (There was one spare blanket but we put it under the sheet to try and make the bed more comfortable). So I wouldn't recommend the fold out couch for a larger adult, really only suitable for a child. Overall we would definitely recommend the condo as the location is outstanding and we had an awesome holiday in Playa Del Carmen with our two teenage daughters. We saw the ruins, snorkeled with the turtles at Akumel, went out on a boat trip, swam in the cenotes and enjoyed wandering around Playa and eating in the local Mexican eateries. The shopping was surprisingly good too (western brand clothing and also Mexican tourist sourvenirs etc). Great spot for a great holiday. I have read other reviews that complain about the noise at night, but we didn't notice a sound from our room.

Good Place, Good Location

Summary: The good outweigh the bad by a good margin but there is room for improvement.

On the plus side:

- Relatively recent building, 2.5 bathrooms for a 2-bedroom apt, everything worked well

- Service by the management company was competent

- Massage service on premises was good

- Excellent location

* 10m walk to Walmart

* 5m walk to many, many restaurants

* special restaurant mention for:

>Chak Pel on 6th Avenue - Best pulpo fried with garlic and onions, ceviche and guacamole

> Michaela on 5th Avenue - Best fish tacos

> Yan Ten on the beach - excellent ceviche

On the Less good side:

Front Desk staff gave us a polite PFO when we asked if they could mail a couple of stamped post-cards

No flexibility on the last day, even though there was nobody renting the next day

Unequal security - some guards, like Miguel, were very vigilant, others slept on a chair in the shade, allowing smokers from other resorts to sit on the resort deck and outsiders to rinse their sandals in the pool. We did not use the pool.

Front Desk service not covered at night. Anyone could come in

Great place to stay in Playa, walking distance to everything!

This condo unit is very comfortable, has a great location, nice ocean view and the facilities are well kept. The check in was very fast and the unit was cleaned every other day like clockwork. A few things didn't work, like the Sky TV and the living room fan. We notified the management co. by email as they weren't really big issues for us, but maybe for another renter. You don't need a car for this rental, we walked everywhere in town, to the ferry for Cozumel and grabbed a cab to do Tulum and Xel-ha. I would stay again!
