Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this house for five nights and really enjoyed our stay. The house is bright, spacious and very clean. It had everything we needed- a full kitchen, study desk, two comfortable bedrooms, bathroom, washer & dryer. Sue provided nice touches to the house- I especially loved the soft blankets that made the place very cozy. The best part was the lovely outdoor space- it's bright and private. It was the perfect place for an afternoon lunch in the sunshine or unwinding with a book in the evening. The house is located less than a minute's walk from Locke Street- a fantastic location to be. Locke Street has a great local meat shop, Oh Goodness Me (natural foods store-awesome store!), gelato, plenty of cute cafes, The Finch (highly recommend this cute local coffee shop). We really enjoyed walks around the neighborhood which has a unique array of older, unique homes. A walk on Saturday morning down Locke St. was nice- lots of young families and pups out for a walk and brunch. Also, for any student in town to tour McMaster University, this house is about a 10 minute drive. The only downside was the loud train that ran several times through the night which was quite disruptive. Other than that, our experience was great.

Nice and clean home with an excellent host.

  • 5 of 5

Sue is an excellent host. The home was clean and had all we needed for a great stay. The area is walking distance to many restaurants and shops. It is in an up and coming neighborhood but I felt safe and never had an issue so that might just depend on what you are comfortable with.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a great Canadian vacation. We scheduled a short trip to Hamilton en route to Niagara Falls. It was an excellent location for a train trip to Toronto and a perfect stop from a long midwest drive. Four of us (2 adults, 2 kiddos) stayed at the property. It has a clean and modern decor, smart lighting, plenty of kitchen tools, and handy keyless entry. We enjoyed exploring the neighborhood and ate at some tasty local restaurants just steps down the block on Locke street and enjoyed coffee at the corner shop on the way out of town. Such a fun, quirky neighborhood and reminded us of our own local fun. I will second the minor inconvenience of hearing the train coming through in the back of the property. Mainly heard in the a.m. hours, but the kids loved watching them pass!

Wonderful Location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay here. The house was thoughtfully furnished, and had many nice amenities, such as reading lamps and keyless entry. Plus, we couldn't have asked for a better location than this. With the short walk to Locke St. we had easy access to many eating places, a very nice cheese store, a natural foods store, two antique dealers, and several specialty shops. It was indeed a pleasure to leave the car parked and walk to these places. The surrounding neighborhood also invites walking, as there is such an eclectic mix of unique houses and well landscaped gardens. The location of the house also allows for very easy access to places like the Royal Botanical Gardens, Hamilton's many waterfalls, and also the Chedoke rail trail to the top of the Escarpment, which we rode our bicycles to from the house. An occasional annoyance was trains passing on nearby tracks, but otherwise this was a gem. We very much appreciated that the owner was accommodating, communicated well, and trusts her lessees by not having a long list of rules to be followed, as too many places do.
