Very nice place with a great location near Yellowstone

  • 5 of 5

The house was a great fit for our vacation. The house was nice with a great location and had toys for the kids. All the information needed was posted and easily available.

Fun family time

  • 5 of 5

We were a family with 10 people 4 of them children aged 6 to 13. The house had a big backyard with a green lawn, high fence to keep animals out, tree house, basketball 1/2 court and swing set. The kids loved being out side. The house is a few miles from the main road up a dirt road. This gave a chance to really feel away from the crowds after a day in Yellowstone. Went on the horse back ride and zip linning right up the road from the house. Also went on a great float raft trip which was great fun for all of us, Plenty of linen, towels and comfortable beds.

Good location, mediocre accommodations

  • 3 of 5

One star, for the location. It's very close to the North Entrance of Yellowstone and convenient to sightseeing and getting supplies in Gardiner. Keep in mind that you will need to travel on 4 miles of unpaved, gravel road to get to the house.

One star for the environment. It's nice to get away from the crowds to a secluded ranch property in the woods with easy access to onsite horseback riding and other activities. We enjoyed a private trail ride with great guides. This is unlike large group experiences in the park.

One star for the outdoor space. The decks and grassy area were a huge hit with our four children.

Unfortunately, the house itself does not match the quality of its location and environment.

We are not super picky travelers but our large party requires a clean, spacious and comfortable place to retire to after long days in the park. This house, while having 4 bedrooms, had very little common spaces to hang out indoors and very little storage space for our belongings. They clearly have full time tenants who occupy almost every drawer, closet and cabinet.

This house is also not very clean at all. We had several issues that we brought up with the owners but they did not attempt to truly rectify the situation. I think we should've at least been offered a refund on our cleaning fee.

Also keep in mind, there is no water pressure early in the morning. They must have their pump on a timer.

Also, there is no cell service or wifi. Which may not be a problem for some.

Owner's Response: First of all, I don’t think I’ve ever been treated more rudely by a guest. I always make a point to meet people or at least call them on the phone to make sure that everything is ok. When I spoke with this man on the phone, he offered no complaints. He chose to do that later. Complaint: “The house wasn’t very clean”. When I asked him specifically about the cleanliness, his only complaint was that the bathroom window was dirty. It’s very possible that this was overlooked by our cleaners. I apologized and offered to personally come down and do some extra cleaning. He said that it wasn’t a big deal. I asked him about other cleanliness issues and he said that he couldn’t think of anything specifically. Again, I offered to do some more cleaning, but he said it wasn't necessary. Complaint: “The house itself does not match the quality of its location and environment”. I’m not really sure what he means by this. When I asked him if my vrbo site was misleading in any way, he admitted that it wasn’t. Between the pictures and the descriptions, nothing should've surprised him. Complaint: “Locked cabinets and not enough space for personal belongings”. It’s true that the house has locked cabinets. It’s necessary for us to have a place to store clean linens, blankets, mattress pads, towels, cleaning supplies, and extra toiletries. Each bedroom has at least one dresser or wardrobe that is completely empty for guests to use. Since the house does have a washer and dryer, most guests pack pretty lightly, so this has never been an issue with previous guests. Complaint: “No Wifi or cell service.” Again, he knew this before he reserved the cabin. It is stated very clearly on the vrbo site that neither are offered, so why choose to complain about it later? We are in the mountains after all. Unfortunately, cell service is very limited in Yellowstone too, so that is not unusual in this area. Our cabins all have land lines and answering machines. Complaint: “No water pressure.” The lawn does have a sprinkler system that comes on during the night, so at times the water pressure will be less. If he had told me about this during his stay, I would've adjusted the timing as to not interfere with their schedule. I can tell that this man is used to getting his way, and unfortunately has probably bullied other owners as well. When they checked out , they left the cabin extremely messy. I could've charged them extra, but I chose to overlook this.

Great Family Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 10 enjoyed a wonderful vacation at this lovely home. It was comfortable for everyone and the children enjoyed the room to play, the play equipment and the basketball court! Great porch for visiting and comfortable beds and furniture. The owner recommended fanatastic activities during our stay and we made lifetime memories! Wifi would be a nice addition to the property for guests, but it was also nice to be "unplugged" for the week... a true vacation!
