Overview

About the property

Completely Renovated 2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Craftsman 2 Blocks To Historic Sites

This charming historic craftsman cottage is only two blocks from the Old Spanish Fort, the beautiful seawall and Old St. George Street. It has two bedrooms, one with queen size bed and the other with standard size comfortable ( really ) hide-a- bed. Each bedroom has it's own bathroom, one with a soaking tub and one with a comfortable size shower. The master bedroom has a sliding glass door that opens onto a lovely screened porch which overlooks the back garden. Bedrooms and baths have fresh new linens.

The cottage has a living room with flat screen TV and an adjoining dining room just off the kitchen. The kitchen has a sliding glass door which also opens onto the screened in back porch. The back porch has two overhead fans and a lovely craftsman breakfast table and chairs. It's a fun spot for breakfast, lunch or cocktails in the afternoon.

The kitchen has all the necessary dishes, pots, pans and utensils for cooking at home if you like.

The entire house was renovated one year ago with new bathrooms and kitchen and all new furnishings with some antiques of the period. The charming finishings trim floors, etc were restored and saved. So everything is fresh and clean but as historic as possible.

The house has covered parking for one car which is important in St. Augustine as parking is limited.

Judith Brant purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Judith Brant chose Florida North East

Jack and I live in Sonoma California. Jack grew up in San Francisco and I grew up in Florida. So loving both states we bought a vacation home in St. Augustine to be close to my family part of the year. We chose St. Augustine because of it's historic charm, good food, art, music and scenic beauty. This property is in the Historic area and within blocks of everything in the old town. It's also two blocks from the old sea wall and water by the Spanish fort. We just love this area.

What makes this cottage unique

St. Augustine feels a little like our home in Sonoma, California …except with a beach, East Coast Florida Beach vibe. It is a small city with lots of activity with quiet natural beauty nearby to enjoy. In Sonoma it's a walk through the vineyards and in St. Augustine it's a walk on the unspoiled state beach or a walk through the old town . There are wonderful galleries, shops and galleries in both.

The two of us spent a month at this delightful vintage cottage and found it to be comfortable, clean and tastefully furnished. The location on the north side of town makes it just a short walk to the fort or the main street. This was our second time at the cottage and we plan to return.

Map

Within 1 - 3 blocks from most historic sites as well as the waterfront sea wall. Walk from your cottage in the morning with a cup of coffee, sit on the old seawall and watch the dolphins. Walk a block for cappuccino and french pastries or lunch than off to see the historic Spanish fort another block away. Walk down historic St. George street to King Street and enjoy the many art galleries, shops, restaurants and more.

Drive over the charming Bridge of Lions a few miles to the state beach ( no condos, houses… only beach ) or a little further to St. Augustine Beach and typical beach bars, seafood restaurants. Visit the two farmer's markets ( Wednesday and Saturday ) on the beach island.
