About Robert Grant

We were both born, raised, educated, and built our careers in Maine. We love all aspects of the state with its mountains, where we ski, the lakes where we enjoy kayaking, fishing and camping. Our son and his family live in Michigan. We are both retired this year and look forward to seeing more of them. You can see our dog Cappy in some of the pictures as he is our shadow. We enjoy dining in the many superb restaurants in the area. We love to entertain which is why this house appealed to us 32 years ago. The backyard is very inviting with blueberry bushes, a grape vine, Apple and pear tree. We have a male and female Cardinal that spend the most of their day at our feeders as well as a host of Maine birds, squirrels and chipmunks.

Robert Grant purchased this house in 1983

Why Robert Grant chose Maine

We purchased this property thinking we would make improvements, redecorate and sell it but after spending a few years in it we loved its personality and the location was so perfect we decided to do additional improvements and stay. We still cannot believe how private it is while being so close to all things exciting and delicious. We love to eat our warm weather meals on the screened in porch with the pool and the porch lit up at night. We feel like we are in the country, yet we are just 10 minutes from the center of Portland. It is prime location with easy access to all of southern Maine and even two hours to Boston. The train is 10 minutes away too!

What makes this house unique

Each person who visits us for the first time is very surprised at the interior size compared to what they expected when seeing it from the front. Many rooms have been altered and improved upon over the years. The home is now at a point where the word predictable is not used to describe it. The backyard is totally secluded so it too is a pleasant surprise for first time visitors.

The private back yard with large deck and pool gives one a nice option for relaxing and sun bathing without feeling as though you need to go to the beach.

Spacious Conveinently Located Home With Beautiful Inground Pool In Desirable Falmouth, ME

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this home with our 3 boys and absolutely loved how conveinently located it was. The inground pool was way more than we ever expected it to be. The backyard was completely private with plennty of shade, sun and deck space to spread out and relax. The pool is 40' long which was ideal for endless hours of swimming and cooling off from the hot August sun. We enjoyed many burgers on the grill and also pizza on the screened porch from Ricetta's. When the boys tucked out from swimming they spent time in the basement playing air hockey. The home is meticulously maintained and Bob was extremely responsive and helpful. It does not have air conditioning but is very well shaded and stays cool. There are also plenty of fans throughout the home as well. Our week at Bob and Bonnie's went by so fast and we had an absolute blast! We would definately recommed this property if you're looking to escape the crowded Maine beaches and enjoy summer in a quiet private setting.

Beautiful comfy home, great pool! Perfect for a family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay! We came from the city and were hoping to have some fun relaxed time with our 3 boys. The house and pool were so wonderful we ended up staying at the house for 5 days...Swimming, splashing, swim training, and floaters-racing! When it was raining we watched movies and played indoors. BBQ next to the pool was also fun. The house is beautiful clean fully equipped and inviting!

I think it's perfect for a family vacation and I wish to thank Bonnie and Robert for allowing us to stay at their beautiful comfortable home.

Off the beaten path while close to pretty much everything

  • 5 of 5

The property and home are beautiful. Had a very nice stay in this lovely rental. The pool is wonderful and it was very refreshing to return to in the afternoon after our day trips. The owners are very friendly and very accommodating, and attentive to our requests. We appreciated the wi-fi and the stereo in the living room and loved the screened in porch. It was nice to have the linens and towels provided as well. We had 6 people in our group and there was enough space for all comfortably.

The kitchen was well organized and stocked with cookware for making a meal or to cookout. We made pancakes at home every morning with wild Maine blueberries. The Falmouth farmers market is on Thursday from 12-6 and it’s really close to the house. We appreciated being off the beaten path while still being close to pretty much every city you may want to visit in Southern Maine. Great place to stay with Family!!

Maine Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed staying in this home while visiting the Portland area. The house is comfortable, cozy, and clean. The owners are most accommodating and friendly. We especially enjoyed the pool, the deck, and the screened-in porch. Very pleasant experience overall.

Great location, wonderful pool and owners

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable home, be aware there is no air conditioning so the upstairs can get hot luckily owners have provided fans. The pool is the highlight of this property which has been meticulously maintained. There is no test like trouble and the hot water suddenly stopped working one day but Bob the owner was incredibly responsive, helpful, thoughtful and resolved the issue immediately. The location is very convenient, the street is pleasant, everything you could want was provided and we would definitely stay again. Let me emphasize that the hot water was a freak occurrence and I only mention it because you don't know what kind of owner you are dealing with until there is an issue and Bob was just wonderful and nothing but kind to us.

Perfect for families

  • 5 of 5

This property was a perfect home base for our Maine vacation. My husband and I were traveling with two young children (1 and 3) and my parents (in their 60's) and every loved the home. We used the pool every day, it was ideally located for various adventures along the coast, and the layout gave everyone ample privacy and room to stretch out. The screened in porch was the real highlight - strung with lights we played games, drank coffee, drank wine, read books, and enjoyed the comforts of fresh air away from the bugs every single day. I can't wait to own a home with a similar room! We totally fell in love with Portland and were thrilled with its accessibility from the home, the city and its amazing restaurants were a quick cab ride away when my husband and I were able to sneak out. Bringing our dog was a bonus, neighbors were so friendly as we walked her through the 'hood and the nearby quarry dog park was a beautiful spot for her to stretch her legs and socialize. A great spot for the whole family to enjoy Vacationland!
