My husband, David, our 4 children and I are all avid skiers or snowboarders. When we're not skiing at Sunday River or snowshoeing out behind the house, we otherwise live in Kennebunkport, Maine. We also enjoy many of the summer activities in the Sunday River area including the swimming hole, hiking, and mt biking.
Liz Johnson purchased this chalet in 2013
Our family has been skiing at Sunday River for several years, so we were excited to finally purchase our own place last year. We picked this house because it was big, spacious, open-concept, private, and brand new yet still felt like an old mountain chalet and is only 6 minutes to the ski resort.
We stayed for a ski weekend towards the end of the season. The house is terrific, recently built, great location, open plan, extremely clean, less than 10 minutes from Sunday River. Great views and the lounge and balcony get loads of afternoon sun. We will be back in the area over the summer to explore and will definitely look to try to rent the house. We really loved it.
Spent several days in this beautiful new home in the mountains with family and friends. We enjoyed great skiing at Sunday River with amazing base cover and lots of new snow, and the house is only a short 5 minute drive to the mountain. The house itself is new and has a great layout for a large group--lots of room in the open-concept common area with a beautiful fieldstone fireplace, lots of huge windows, cathedral ceilings, and a dining table that seats 12! Bedrooms are spacious and can accommodate a large group. There is even a "kids" area downstairs with a separate lounge/play space and large TV. This home is very clean, comfortable, well-appointed and well-cared for. I would recommend this rental to a friend without hesitation. We will definitely come back--only next time I may actually skip the skiing and just relax in the sunny great room in front of the fire! Great owner to rent from--very accommodating, responsive to questions and easy to work with.
Spent a few days at this place with some friends recently to do some skiing. The house is brand new, clean and had plenty of room. It is located about half way between the main mountain and Jordan Bowl so we mixed it up each day and started in different locations. It is a quick 5-10 minute drive to the mountain. The house has some awesome views and a great fireplace. It is in a very quiet area but it is not too secluded. We did some snow shoeing right out the front door and had a blast. We will definitely return and check this place out some more this Summer and Fall. Thanks for a great long weekend.
Hike, bike, snowshoe or x-country ski right out the door into acres of woods and trails. Drive 15 minutes into Bethel to explore restaurants and antique shops. Swim in one of New England's best swimming holes on the river just a few miles from the house.
