Wonderful stay in a special house!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing weekend at ARCADIA! Weren't sure what to expect when we drove in on a rainy night up the steep hill to the house, and were thrilled with place - it's even nicer than the photos! Totally comfortable and really cool mid-centiry modern design and decor. Gorgeous views, and really nice to be so close to town as well as hikes, etc. We were traveling with kids and this place was ideal. I hope to come back soon!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your compliments of our Arcadia home. There are only a few homes along the river with this homes kind of views. We are so happy that you enjoyed them!! And more importantly, it is wonderful to hear that your kids really enjoyed the home as well. You were all wonderful guests. We would welcome you back to Arcadia or to any of our other homes again, when you need another visit to Sonoma. Russian River wine country is always a good idea. Thank you again, Russian River Getaways

Awesome place!

  • 5 of 5

we were up for 3 days last week, and I can't say enough about the place. it was clean and well put together. The property is quite large and sits on top of a hill overlooking the valley so the views are wonderful. Especially when in the hot tub at sunset! All the amenities we needed were there, and everything worked as described. and its a short drive down into the town of Guerneville. Ben was a responsive and gracious host, so the whole experience was really great. We are definitely planning to return, and i Highly recommend Arcadia for a comfortable, quiet and very relaxing get away

Great View But Needs A Little TLC

  • 3 of 5

Beautiful location on a mountaintop with a magnificent view. The town of Guerneville has a nice, eclectic '70s air about it appropriate to Northern California with a variety of good restaurants. The house, as noted elsewhere, has a rather "quirky" layout but it works. Perhaps the following comments are indicative of the price point for this rental but we found the appointments to be dated and a number of things in need of attention. On the outside, the patio was cluttered with everything in disarray. The umbrella was broken and thus unusable. On the inside, there was inadequate lighting. The TV is too small for the environment and the instructions for its usage did not translate into it working. Workable under-cabinet lighting and the addition of a variety of table and floor lamps, both in the living room and bedrooms would be very useful. The carpeting throughout the house is old and worn. The bathrooms are carpeted still, reflecting the 70s concept of the house overall. In the master bedroom the shower wasn't very clean and the shower curtain was moldy. One more negative, and this doesn't apply to everyone: the road up to the house is one-lane, hairpinned, with blind corners. Very little traffic so the odds are in your favor but not for the faint of heart. On the PLUS side, everything (except the road) can be fixed if the owner/management spends some real money on updating and repairs. Brought up to modern standards, this property would be an excellent redoubt in which to recover from all the great wine in the region.

Totally relaxing, AMAZING view

  • 5 of 5

The layout of the house is a little quirky, but for our well acquainted group of seven girls it was perfect. The hot tub is one of the best I've ever been in - totally private, with an incredible view of hills and trees. The beds were comfy, the kitchen was fantastic, but the outdoor space was the really special part. I highly recommend this house to anyone who wants to be close to town but feel far away.

Gorgeous views

  • 5 of 5

I loved this place. Great views. Nice hot tub setting. At first it feels like it is up a huge hill, but later we walked the hill in 10 minutes. It's not bad at all! The only quirk is that the main shower is in an awkward location (en route to the 3rd bedroom). Our group didn't care, but pickier, more private people may not enjoy this. I would totally rent this again with another group of friends. The kitchen/Living Room has a nice layout for hanging out. 4.5 stars!

From the original pictures, the house looks wonderful and I expected my stay would be just as much. I didn't expect some the extras, like the telescope, that added to my experience. Another plus is that my cell service did not work in Guerneville but did when I got back to the house.
