About the property

Our slice of heaven is right on a tidal river with harbor down the road.

Tidewatch Cottage is the best of both worlds--we are right on a peaceful tidal river that you can kayak and just down the road from Friendship's famous lobster pounds and beach. It is recently built and is ready for your family with many amenities.

With beautiful views from every room, you can relax at home and enjoy privacy and peace watching the tides. There is a spacious lawn for relaxing family barbecues, including an outdoor fireplace for toasting marshmallows. The deck allows for views up and down the river.

The cottage has 3 bedrooms and a studio room with two more beds, 3 bathrooms, a great kitchen with gas stove, wifi and cable television, an outdoor grill, washer and dryer and a dining room with table that seats eight to ten. About Barbara Ford

We love Maine and the town of Friendship. We vacationed in nearby Waldoboro for years before finding this perfect spot to share. We love the area for it's laidback feel, proximity to iconic Maine coastal sights and easy access to all the Mid Coast has to offer. We discovered Tidewatch Cottage and couldn't resist it's beautiful view, wonderful location and the opportunity for an easy paddle every sunny day! we are Rotarians and will give special rates and other benefits to fellow Rotarians!

Barbara Ford purchased this house in 2014

Why Barbara Ford chose Friendship

Enjoy modern amenities while still being on a real Maine escape. Tidewatch Cottage is a typical New England waterfront cottage--but it was built in 2007, so everything is up to date! You can paddle a canoe or kayak from the backyard, watch beavers and birds on the river, explore tide pools at low tide. You can also head into town for a great meal, shopping or museums. Best of all, you can ask a local lobsterman to deliver fresh lobster on his way home. This is the heart of Friendship in the truest sense of the word--a place to enjoy yourself and share great times with friends and family. There are enough beds to accommodate eight, a great kitchen and dining room with amazing views from every room--even the bathroom upstairs! There is a large yard for kids, a grill and picnic table for al fresco dining and a large deck for enjoying an evening glass of wine. You have access to a washer and dryer, a full kitchen with chef's tools and plenty of space to work. You can walk down to Wallace's for groceries, visit the local lobster pound for the fresh catch or even have lobster delivered at the end of the day.

What makes this house unique

Have the best of Mid Coast Maine nearby but enjoy peace and privacy at the same time. Tidewatch Cottage let you choose YOUR perfect slice of Maine--you can kayak one day, visit lighthouses and farmers markets the next and just chill out the next day! Friendship is centrally located for reaching the best of Mid-Coast Maine attractions--lighthouses, museums, shopping and restaurants. But it's tiny town rural feel let's you relax and enjoy a piece of heaven right on the salt river.

Lovely, Peaceful Home, well-appointed

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at this home - it is very well-appointed with a great kitchen and decorated very nicely. The owner was very helpful and a good communicator. We were new to the area, dropping off a student at a college in Maine and the area has a lot of history and is very picturesque. The house was perfect for two families as there are bedrooms on 3 different floors so people have a lot of privacy and space. Would stay there again.

Barbara is an awesome hostess. We had an awesome blueberry cake waiting on us when we arrived. She called to check on us. We were invited to her home to enjoy a lobster dinner, which was amazing.

Loved this house. Great home with lots of room. Centrally located for sightseeing all of the Maine coast. We would rent this place again. Traveled with 6 girlfriends but suitable for a family.

Another awesome vacation in Maine!!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time to stay at this property and we were just as happy as the first time. Our host is always gracious and welcoming and very helpful. This property is an easy drive to many of the lighthouses but also off the beaten path for nature and privacy. You can relax on the deck or go out into the back yard for a picnic and stargazing at night. We would definately recommend this property for 1st timers to Maine or anyone just wanting some peace and relaxation.

Gorgeous New England home in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We had the most incredible stay at Barbara's place in Friendship. My family has a home on the coast nearby where my (now) husband and I decided to tie the knot. We needed a suitable home to rent for ourselves and some friends traveling from the west coast, and we could not have found a more perfect place. Barbara went above and beyond her duties as host from day one. She even offered to run errands for me as the big day approached. She was so easy to contact and so enjoyable to work with. I feel like I would consider her a friend and we've never even met!

The house sits on a beautiful piece of property (photographs cannot do justice). The kitchen was as well equipped as any home with an avid cook. The appliances were all new and worked great. The interior is decorated so tastefully with beautiful paint that really opens up the home. The morning light that comes in is exactly what you want on a New England vacation.

We enjoyed mornings on the porch sipping coffee and enjoying the view, as well as evenings with cocktails and good company (not to mention bug spray and citronella candles-both provided!).

The beds were all very comfortable with clean sheets and soft pillows. The bunk bed shockingly slept 2 adults quite comfortable (again, photos cannot do them justice). Having a bathroom on every floor was useful considering the amount of people we had staying with us, and the washer and dryer on the lower level worked great.

I can happily say that I have every intention of returning year after year to this home. Some of our wedding guests expressed interest in coming back solo to stay there as well. We couldn't have asked for better accommodations and a better host. I am so pleased with our stay on every level. I would highly recommend this home to anyone, any family, looking for a peaceful retreat in quintessential New England fashion!

Beautiful, welcoming, slice of Maine Heaven!

  • 5 of 5

This property feels like "home" from the minute you pull in the driveway. Big, beautiful backyard and deck for watching the river tide come and go. Plenty of room inside and out for our party of 6 (3 adults and 3 children). Wonderful farm stand across the road. Nice, quiet spot, but close to anything you might want to do. House is immaculate, plenty of towels, and blankets. Very well appointed kitchen, and laundry. Plenty of oscillating fans for comfort. Beds and linens are very comfortable.

One of our favorite parts of our stay, was meeting the owner of the house. She is wonderful! Excellent communication throughout the whole process! Very welcoming, and attentive to anything you might need. Left us a book full of ideas for food, and things to do in the area. Definitely recommend staying here, and we will be back!
