A stunning spot for enjoying peace, quiet, flora and fauna.
My husband's family came to Eskdale in the 1800's and there has been a connection with it ever since.
Michele purchased this Cottage in 1997
Why Michele chose Eskdale
After camping in Eskdale for many, many years we finally found this lovely cottage in the most perfect position. It is also our holiday home so you will find some of our possessions there which, we feel, all go towards making it a "home from home".

Does what it says on the tin - plenty of space and a fantastic outlook from the garden.
Lovely cottage with stunning views from a lovely enclosed garden. Lots of good walks locally and only 10 mins to Wastwater.
Thank you for that. I wonder if you could help me to gat the cottage up to 5 stars please. Were there changes you think I could make?
The holiday cottage is ideally located in beautiful scenery with close access to lots of walks via public footpaths etc.
The cottage was very comfortable and had everything you could possibly need during your stay
Lovely spacious cottage in West Cumbria
We enjoyed the warm, spacious cottage with lovely views over the garden and hills beyond. It was a very short walk from The Green station where you can catch the little steam train to Ravenglass. Wastwater is also very close, as is Scafell Pike and there are lots of walks from the door.
Lovely property with a mountain view
The property had everything that we needed, it was very clean. A lovely little stream running through the end of the garden with the cows and sheep just over the fence.
We're so pleased you found everything you needed at the cottage and enjoyed the wonderful views.
Lovely, homely cottage in an excellent location
Green Lodge is very comfortable, well equipped and a real 'home from home'. The sun room and garden have beautiful views. The Ravenglass to Dalegarth steam railway is almost on the doorstep, but it is not intrusive at all. There are lovely walks directly from the cottage and several excellent pubs close by and a very useful local shop.
The cottage is just as described and pictured on the website, and was perfect for our holiday (2 adults and 2 small dogs).
Green Lodge is an ideal retreat for couples and a perfect base from which to explore the Lake District and its many attractions.
Just outside the cottage is the entrance to La’al Ratty, the little train that will take you right down to the coast.
Eskdale offers a selection of excellent pubs, there are in fact five in the valley: the King George IV being less than a ten minute walk from the cottage.
The valley also offers golfing, ghyll scrambling, canoeing, rock climbing and other adventures. Keen walkers can tackle the country’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike, or visit the country's deepest lake, Wastwater - both within easy driving distance.
One of the highlights in the Eskdale Valley is The Ravenglass and Eskdale steam railway, lovingly known as La’al Ratty. It provides a scenic route through the valley between Eskdale Green and the pretty village of Boot, with its corn mill (one of the few in the country still left working), ancient iron ore mine and tranquil pretty waterfall (Stanley Ghyll Force). The train will take you on a scenic journey down to the coast at Ravenglass, where you can visit Muncaster Castle with its wonderful Azalea and Rhododendron displays and interesting Hawk and Owl Centre.
One of the many routes into Eskdale is over the Hardknott and Wrynose pass - stunningly beautiful but not the easiest of drives with its very narrow roads and one in three S-bends! As you travel along the Hardknott Pass you will see a Roman fort which was once used to keep watch over the military road between Ambleside's Roman Fort, and what was once a bustling port during Roman times at Ravenglass. Today, it provides a wonderful point from which to take in the magnificent views over Eskdale and investigate the well preserved ruins.
