About Alexis

As a photographer I travel a lot and like to stay abroad in unique places, bed & breakfasts and private property. Therefor I like to give that chance to others who like a unique place in this great city!

Alexis purchased this house in 1997

Why Alexis chose Amsterdam

I fell in love with this city 18 years ago, especially with the Jordaan area. I started some 10 years ago to renovate this 115 years old storehouse into a warm home. As I lived in this house and area for over 20 years I can advise and suggest you places, bars and restaurants in and around town that are not in any tourist-guide.

I hope you will enjoy your stay in this beautiful city!

What makes this house unique

THIS IS THE ULTIMATE FAMILY HOME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OLD CITY CENTRE.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN.

Lovely historic home in a great neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four enjoyed a wonderful week in Amsterdam with this house as home base. The spacious house is comfortably furnished with taste, character, and a bit of humor. The gracious owner, Alexis, welcomes you with a fridge full of basic provisions, a tour of the house, and excellent suggestions for shopping, restaurants, and things to do. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking simple meals. The location is outstanding--the Jordaan is the prettiest neighborhood in Amsterdam, it is convenient to everything, it is away from the hordes of tourists, and there are many good restaurants, cafes, and bars nearby. The house is on a quiet street off the canal, so there is little noise from traffic, bicycles, or passersby. The house is not suitable for people with mobility issues or families with very young children because the stairs are narrow, winding, and open, and the bedrooms are two and three flights up. There are students living in the house next door, which makes for a bit of jolly noise in the evenings, but it was not excessive during our stay and it was always quiet by about 11 pm or so. If you are up for the stairs (which are unavoidable in an old house in Amsterdam) and don't mind lively young neighbors, this house offers good value for the money and makes for a very pleasant stay in the center of Amsterdam.

A perfect place to stay in Amsterdam.

  • 5 of 5

The property is beautiful and in a perfect location for Amsterdam. Close enough to easily walk to all of the main attractions but not in the middle of all of the tourist activities and crowds.. A quiet neighbourhood but close to bars and restaurants, a 5 minute walk in any direction. The house has everything you need and the owner is very accomodating. I would definitely stay there again the next time I visit Amsterdam. We were there with our daughter and the home would easily sleep 6 people.

Amazing house and location

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about this house! It is unique and full of character, clean, well-appointed and in a perfect location. Although near tourist attractions, the area is quiet and feels local. Alexis is a perfect host and welcomed us with fresh fruit and food in the fridge. He also found a great babysitter for us on last minute notice when our first babysitter canceled. All in all we had a great time and hope to be back. Thanks!

Perfect location, and really cool place!

  • 5 of 5

We were a small group on tour for grad school, and this could not have been a more perfect place. The pictures are accurate, the place is gorgeous. Seriously, walk out the front door, turn left, and you stroll through picturesque streets and bridges to the heart of downtown in 10 minutes. Very cool. Alexis could not have been a more kind and responsive host, offering helpful information about the city, and ensuring our stay was comfortable and easy. He is a great guy, and just tremendously helpful.
