Indulge in relaxation, recreation, and romance at the “Ocean Pearl” beachfront villa. Here you can discover the natural side of Grand Cayman, escape your busy life and enjoy peace and tranquility. Part of the Northern Lights development, we are one of just nine units and are bordered by the Salina Nature Reserve and Babylon Reef. While our location is only a 35 min drive from the cosmopolitan city of Georgetown and its famous Seven Mile Beach, this property leaves you feeling like you are the only one on the island.
The two story, 2 bedroom/3 bath “Ocean Pearl” is a corner unit surrounded by windows that flood the villa with Caribbean sunshine. With an open concept design and 10 foot ceilings throughout, the home is bright and spacious. Though the unit has its own central air conditioning you may seldom use it as the plantation shutters and multi panel doors open to create a seamless transition to outdoor spaces (screened lanais), inviting cool trade breezes and spectacular ocean views.
The master bedroom highlights include a private balcony, jetted soaker tub, king bed, and a flat screen TV. The second bedroom has two twins that can be made into a king using a conversion kit, depending on guest preference, and a second full bathroom. For larger groups, there is a queen convertible sofa in the living room with a half bath on the ground floor main level for convenience.
The fully stocked kitchen with breakfast bar looks out to an ocean/pool view. Appliances include dishwasher, range, microwave, side-by-side fridge with ice maker and water dispenser, Keurig and standard coffee makers, and a blender. Should you choose not to cook, there are several simple and elegant ocean side restaurants within 10 minutes of the property that offer food and entertainment. There is also an outdoor grill, picnic basket, coolers, beach chairs and towels for guests to enjoy beach picnics here or at any of Grand Cayman's fabulous beaches.
Steps from our ground floor lanai is a freshwater pool surrounded by cobblestone decking and mature gardens that lead to a private 240 foot white sand beach and dock. Enjoy the thatch covered cabana at the end of the dock that's perfect for watching sunsets and passing rays or turtles. The dock also features a swim ladder and platform for easy access to world class snorkelling and shore diving at Babylon. Guests are welcome to wander down the beach after bonefish on nearby sand flats. The natural beach provides a great opportunity for beachcombing and exploring tidal pools, while the grounds host a variety of birds including Cayman parrots and Caribbean doves.
Other amenities of the unit include free wireless internet, free local calls, washer/dryer, and flat screen TV's with full cable packages in both the living room and master bedroom. There is also a stereo and blue-ray player to enjoy a variety of classic music and movie disks housed in the entertainment center. The rental includes weekly housekeeping with additional maid and grocery delivery services available upon request. We have an on-island unit manager available to assist guests and are licensed with the Ministry of Tourism and Accommodation.
We offer discounts for extended stays of 10 days or more and last minute bookings that are not reflected on the VRBO/HomeAway rental quotes so please contact us.
Raised in the Yukon Territory of Northern Canada, it is rather fitting we ended up at a place called the Northern Lights. We are fisheries biologists in British Columbia, Canada.
Angela purchased this townhome in 2015
Our upbringing and profession attracts us to wild natural places, while our increasing age attracts us to amenities, hence Grand Cayman North Side.
The property is near everything yet leaves you feeling like you are the only one on the island. The snorkelling and shore diving off Babylon is spectacular! On your morning run you won't see traffic or people but you will see agouti, parrots, egrets...You get the picture.
The townhome was even better than advertised. Not only would we recommend this place, we would more than likely stay there again. It's a wonderful combination of comfort, beauty and location.
What separated this from any other location for us was the privacy. We never felt like we were crowded in any way and felt like we had the whole north side just to ourselves. The snorkeling is spectacular in front of the building -- so good that everywhere else we tried was kind of a disappointment.
We booked a little late, but the process was smooth and the owners had a compete listing of things to do and important things to know available so we could be prepared when we arrived.
Everything was clean, and the furniture in good repair and comfortable. One surprise was how well stocked the kitchen is when it comes to dishes, glasses, and especially tools. We ate in almost every meal, and every appliance we needed was available.
The master bedroom and bath are spacious, and the twin bedroom is perfect for siblings.
The grounds are gorgeous and well kept. The crew came by for their weekly work and were pleasant and even gave us some of the coconuts from the trees.
You can rent snorkel and watersport gear just down the road at one of the East End resorts, and there are some OK restaurants fairly close, but for us the beauty of Ocean Pearl is the ability to not leave just to eat. We never went back to the west side until it was time to fly home. But make sure you stock up at one of the big grocery stores closer to the airport when you arrive.
The condo appeared exactly as it was presented on VRBO, which was great. It was very clean and well stocked. Angela the owner was very responsive and hepful as well. The grounds were actually prettie than the online pictures. We were also very pleasantly surprised by how private the location actually felt. The pool, beach and dock were all wonderful plaes to hang out at all times.
We were there to relax on this trip, so we mainly hit the local restaurants. We did, however , do the nightitme kayaking trip off of Rum point, which was amazing. I would highly recommend that. We woud definiltey recommend this spot to anyone else!
We had a lovely stay at this condo. The location is perfect and away from the crowded areas. Only two other people were staying at the condo complex, so it felt like we had the whole place to our self. The layout of the condo is wonderful and the hospitality of the owners was top notch. The beach is a bit rocky, but the snorkeling was amazing. I really can't say enough wonderful things. If you are thinking about booking this condo, DO IT! We can't wait to return!
Thank You Angela, Scott & Wyatt !!
Your place is so amazingly relaxing and so luxurious. This was our second visit and we have already booked our 3rd for
next year :)) We still have tons of things we want to do and see.
The Caves are a must see, truly remarkable at 350 million years old and only 5 minutes from the door step.
Greatest Vacation Ever,
Kristal & Ben
We would recommend this condo in a heartbeat. It's perfect if you are looking for a quieter alternative to staying on 7 mile beach. Run point and Kaibo are 10 minute away. Private Pool and great snorkeling right off the beach behind the condo.
This was our second stay on the North Side, the first for the Ocean Pearl. The condo was beautiful, everything we needed! Comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, great kitchen! The only issue was regulating the temperature, because the AC would really get the upstairs cold at night. This was the case in the house we've stayed in before, as well. The whole property was deserted the week we were there, with only 1 or 2 other condos occupied during our stay, so it was nice to have the pool to ourselves! The ocean was very choppy all week, very unlike every other Cayman stay we've had, so we didn't get to try snorkeling off the dock during our stay. In fact, our trip to the Stingray Sandbar had us being knocked over by waves and trying not to step on any stingrays!
We loved the screened porch for breakfast in the morning, listening to the waves, enjoying the view of the garden, and watching the birds. We had dinner twice at Over the Edge and once a Tukka on the East End. We also snorkeled, ate and went kayaking at Morritt's/The Reef Resorts.
This is a nice place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of George Town and West Bay, though we did find ourselves driving into West Bay in search of some calmer waters for snorkeling. We would definitely consider another stay here the next time we come!
Rediscover the joy of nature at the Northern Lights Ocean Pearl. This property showcases Cayman at its most natural. Babylon is a spectacular wall dive on the north wall which can be accessed directly from the northern lights complex.
