Lovely Rural property. Sleeps 8/10 in 4 bedrooms. 2 Kitchens. 2 Bathrooms. WIFI

We have just been awarded 3* by the local tourist board. Brolange is situated in a small hamlet in the Commune de Soubran, on a quiet country lane about 3kms from the nearest Market Town of Mirambeau. Mirambeau is situated within 10 mins drive of the main Paris to Bordeaux A10 Motorway. JN 37 / at the 484KMS milestone

The house was built during the reign of Napoleon III. Built in the Charentaise style from local sandstone, lime mortar & Roman tiles. Renovated and insulated to a high standard, the house forms a hollow square around the central patio. In the style of a Roman Villa.

The accommodation comprises 2 Master bedrooms, 2 other bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 large kitchen diner, 1 separate kitchen, 1 Lounge/Dining Room and 1 large Lounge.) The house sleeps 8 to 10 people. Arranged in 2 linked apartments around a central patio, so ideal for 2 families holidaying together.

Rental periods are flexible off season but we prefer whole weeks Sat-Sat in July August. Monthly rentals available at reduced rates out of season for those wishing to avoid UK winters.

We provide all bedding and bath towels, changed weekly.

There is free WiFi and televisions in both lounges.

Board games, dvd player with selection of films are available for rare rainy days.

Brolange is conveniently situated for local pools, swimming lakes and aquapark. Nearest Beach is Meschers-sur-Gironde less than an hour away. Quiet wooded location with walks/bike routes. However all amenities within easy access Mirambeau (5kms) Jonzac (14kms)

There is plenty of outside space to enjoy. In addition to the central patio courtyard with dining & relaxing areas, there is a separate terrace ideally placed to get the morning sun. The enclosed back garden has plenty of space for the kids to run around and is well away from the nearest small road.

On arrival you will find a welcome pack with some basic foodstuffs to see you through to a supermarket run on Sunday Morning. The house is fully equipped for cooking, dining etc.

About Bill & Guilaine Woodburn

Bill & Guilaine. We are a Bi-Lingual Anglo French Couple with roots in Charente Maritime. We have 2 grown up kids. Although we have owned Brolange since 1992, we took the decision to extensively renovate and develop the house over the last few years. Having completed the task we are keen to share our property with others.

The Perfect Hideaway for a chill-out holiday out of season or an family holiday in season. Weather can stay very warm from Mid March to early November, and when a nip does get into the air in late autumn, what would be better than to curl up in front of one of 2 wood burning stoves. Plenty of indoor and outdoor living space for everyone to find their own quiet (or noisy) corner. Situated in gently rolling hills amid native forest and vineyards, it is ideal for walking & cycling. There are unlimited green lanes, tracks and country roads to explore. The house wraps itself around like you a cloak and is very private with a central patio in the middle of the property.There is a large enclosed garden for children to play in.Pick seasonal fruit from our trees for personal consumption with our blessing.This location offers a balance between a wide variety of activities, local culture & has beaches within easy reach. Situated on the border between Cognac and Bordeaux regions, several excellent distilleries and chateaux are within 20 minute driving radius. Charente has excellent food traditions, from the best butter in France, Seafood and organic meats and Cheeses, not to mention fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers markets.

Excellent access to supermarkets/restaurants/boulangeries (Mirambeau/Jonzac/Montendre). Not at the beach, but days out at the beach very do-able

The layout of the house is unique. Divided into 2 interconnected halves, it is ideal for 2 families or several generations holidaying together. Plenty of opportunity to spend time together, but easy to have privacy and an early night when others want to stay up.

Superbe maison.

Maison conforme à la description de l’annonce. Bill est à notre écoute et très réactif pour les réponses.

Idéal pour des vacances à plusieurs, réunion familiale. Nous étions là quelques jours pour le réveillon du 1er de l’an et n’avaons manqué de rien. Petite attention de Bill en nous laissant du bois pour faire un feu dans le poil.

Great living space in a peaceful location

A group of 6 of us stayed in the house at Soubran for a week's stay of relaxation and sipping red wine. We had a fantastic week! The house is distant enough from the hubbub to afford a sense of isolation, yet close enough to town to be convenient.

The house has been lovingly renovated and restored to make great living space, which best suits a family group or a small group of friends.

We found ourselves spending most of our time in the central courtyard which is a real sun trap. Most rooms in the house open up into the courtyard making it an obvious sitting/chill out space.

The modern kitchen was much appreciated, and having two bathrooms is a real bonus for a larger group.

We enjoyed days out to the swimming lake and to the coast, and made use of the bikes provided to cycle down to the lovely local village of Mirambeau. In Mirambeau you'll find everything you'll need including a wonderful boulangerie, a supermarket and some nice bars and restaurants. We'd particularly recommend a visit to Le Coeval Gris in Mirambeau where we ate probably one of the most amazing traditional French meals we've ever eaten.

Bill was very helpful during the booking process, and lost of helpful information was provided about local activities. We would certainly go back for a return visit.

There are a number of well marked circular trails in the Soubran area, several of which footpath run directly past the house. Details from Soubran Mairie. Local Eco site Etang des Bennisons 15 mins walk through the woods. A number of municipal pools within easy reach. 2 swimming lakes within 15 min drive. Jonzac Lake has boat hire, tree walks, trampolines and other activities. Aquatic centre "Les Antilles" in Jonzac with 2 sections - waves/slides for the kids on one side & Gym/sauna/steambath/counter current swimming inside/outside for the oldies. Casino in Jonzac. Jonzac is a Spa Town so special treatments are available. The best beaches are found near the mouth of the estuary, Plages de Meschers, Suzac, St Georges de Didonne and Royan. Atletnatively the Moulin du Sap, near Lorignac has rowing boats/pedalos down tree lined canals in the reed marshes near the estuary. There are small fishing ports (Port Morbert/Mortagne) with seafood, glaces & crepes. The fortified village of Talmont with boutiques/antique dealers is worth a visit and the views from the cliffs are magnificent. Distillery/vineyard visits are plentiful in Charente for Pineau/Cognac "degustations". One of the best is "Les Fontaines Bleus" in Lorignac where you can also visit the gardens and see the magical blue water pools. Turn 10kms south and you are in the Cotes de Blaye Bordeaux region with Chateaux open for tastings and sales. There are 2 Karting Tracks within 15kms. Numerous BMX tracks. There are nice little cinemas in Jonzac and Montendre. There is plenty of Gallo-Roman history & when all else fails - a McDonalds in Jonzac!

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
