About Jan Hays-Eminger

Jan and Paul currently reside in Sylvan Lake, Michigan. Tryon is our 2nd home and we have been coming to Tryon for 18 years. The beauty and friendliness of the people are what has made Tryon our destination for future retirement. If anyone is interested in horses and the equestrian world, this is the place to be.

Jan Hays-Eminger purchased this house in 2000

Why Jan Hays-Eminger chose Tryon

Tryon not only is a dream come true for equestrians, but is full of history. Centrally located with easy access to both Greenville/Spartanburg and Ashville airports. Mountain views, horse farms, Pearson's Falls and quaint and artsy Saluda. Zip-line, kayaking and river tubing are just a few of the exciting things to do. Within 40 minutes to downtown Ashville or Greenville. Restaurants and shopping abound. Numerous local golf courses.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed our time this past weekend at the Cotton Seed in Tryon. The beds were very comfortable, the cottage was charming and will equipped, the surrounding countryside was beautiful and it was right place for the wedding we attended.

I hope we can find the time to stay longer next time so we have more time to see all of the nearby sights.

Thank you,

This was my 3rd visit to Tryon and the best, due to the wonderful find in this wonderful cottage. Located on a country dirt road just 5 minutes from both Tryon and Landrum and just next to horses grazing in pasture. How idyllic is this picture? Inside is everything, and I mean everything you would need... just bring your toothbrush and p.j.s My sister and I had the most wonderful time.... going to the Saturday night lights at TIEC and the famous BarBQ/folk festive in Tryon. I would have rented this cottage for the entire summer except that I would have left my kitty at home.... I believe, however, that dogs are OK.. Jan, the owner, is wonderful and I hope to rent the cottage again for some weeks, in the future.....hopefully this year. Thanks Jan

Great location...Great Hospitalitity!!

My family of four enjoyed a long weekend at this lovely was perfect in every way. Great location with scenic views and very close to the towns of Tyron and Landrum. The cottage was spotless, well stocked, and decorated beautifully. Jan paid attention to every detail-even leaving the "candles" on for us on the mantle! We had plenty of room for two teenagers and our small dog...who loved that there was a dog room just for her! The location is great for those who have an interest in the equestrian or those who love to visit antique shops. There is also great hiking nearby. My only regret was it was a busy weekend for us and we didn't have as much time to spend at the cottage as I would have liked.

Let's start with WOW ! I travel extensively both on business and personal; have wanted to be in Horse Hunting Country for a very long time and went on the recommendation of a close friend. The location, amenities and cleanliness not to mention well stocked home made this visit a 5 ***** experience. I especially loved the quaint setting on the hill with the fireplace, cozy bedrooms and stocked kitchen. We started with Wow and I'd like to end with Super Wow !!! Will visit again and again, so much going on in Tryon as a horse lover and amateur hunter this is one heck of a place !!!
