About the property

Panoramic ocean front views, steps to the beach. 1 bedroom w/ Luxury king bed

The Hale Le'a Le'a, which in Hawaiian means the “HOUSE OF GREAT PLEASURE”, resides beach front on the famous shoreline of North Shore Oahu.

Just steps to the beach and you'll be digging your toes in the sand and hopefully see a Honu or two, (our resident Hawaiian green sea turtles), bobbing in the the ocean. Our beach is serene and semi private, but if you prefer we are also close to all the world renowned North Shore beaches, such as Ali'i Beach, Chuns, Lonis, Waiamea Bay, Banzai Pipeline and Sunset beach.

Waialua is a wonderful and very centralized location. Just 2 miles to historic Haleiwa town. There you will find many unique boutique and surf shops. There is a wide array of restaurants, ranging from fresh local seafood, Thai food, Mexican food, “Kua Aina” for burgers and sandwiches, the food trucks that specialize in shrimp plates and don't forget Matsumoto's for a shaved ice.

The activities available are endless, from Scuba dives, deep sea fishing, Shark adventure tours, whale watching (seasonal), or rent surf boards, paddle boards, jet skis, kayaks or snorkel gear.

And a short drive to Dillingham Airport offers skydives, ultra light flight tours and glider rides. Mokuleia Beach, the Polo fields, horseback riding and Kaena Point are also nearby. And don't forget the Dole Pineapple Plantation, Waimea falls, the Polynesian Cultural Center and Turtle Bay.

Easy day trips to Pearl Harbor Memorial, Diamond Head Crater, Waikiki, Makapu'u Lighthouse, and shopping at the swap meet at Aloha Stadium.

And of coarse remember to just relax at Hale Le'a Le'a, the “HOUSE OF GREAT PLEASURE”. Listen to the sound of the surf and the trade winds blowing through the coconut palms with a Mai Tai in hand at sunset.

My wife and I decided to go to Oahu for a second honeymoon. this was the perfect place to stay, the views were incredible. The owners were out of town during our stay, and Jeanne was So helpful in giving us ideas of where to do the best snorkeling and hikes. We would not have changed a single thing about this stay it was Perfect.

Best experience ever!

  • 5 of 5

I went there with my wife for our 3-days honeymoon and we just loved it! Fantastic space with breathtaking views. The house was perfectly clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Plus in the middle of August there was almost nobody around so we could feel like having a private beach. We had absolutely a wonderful and relaxing time there so thank you Dennis and Tyla for making it a truly unforgettable experience.

Beautiful views

  • 4 of 5

The best part of this property is dealing with Tyla, the property manager. She goes out of her way to answer questions and make your stay lovely. Sherry takes care of the grounds and is a wonderful source of information for local events. Love them both and would return just to get another dose of their TLC.

This is an attractive rental with some nice points: good furnishings, wi-fi, comfortable bedding, generous square footage, upscale appliances, views and easy access to the beach and North Shore attractions.

The unit has fans and windows to open for venting in lieu of air conditioning, but it was not sufficient to keep us comfortable a lot of the time. During cooler months, the lack of A/C wouldn’t be an issue for anyone.

There is a marked lack of privacy due to the number of windows and the absence of window shades. (We discovered a drone plane hovering outside our window one morning.)

Parking is tight but available on the premises. I didn’t have a problem with it.

The beach in front of the house is hard to walk any time except first light of day. This is not the best swimming area around, but there are several close by. One can venture into the water if mindful of the rocks, and the sea turtles swim by quite often keeping you entertained.

I would visit here again and would recommend the location to others but suggest a visit during cooler months. Customer service is terrific.

The property was very clean, had everything we needed and very accessible to the beach.

Tyla reaches out to us before we got there with helpful info and upon arrival she greeted us there. She gave us very helpful info about site seeing as well as the rest of the staff. Other guests staying near the property were very nice also. Saw lots of turtles and having the beach so close to go down for a swim was so refreshing. We will be back. Mahalo and Aloha

Stop Reading and Book

If the primary attribute you seek is beach front lodging then just book Dennis' place. I could stand in the kitchen and pull a cork on a bottle of wine (two wine coolers in the unit by the way!) and be in the sand/surf having a glass of wine in less than 30 seconds. The views from the deck and bedroom are awesome. If I am lucky in life, I will get to stay here again. Thank you Dennis for sharing.

A few "look outs" should be noted (and have been in other reviews.) First, this is an Air BnB (ground level) and VRBO (2nd floor) compound plus two unique full-time residents (someone in front and a couple on the 3rd floor and maybe a bookkeeping service in the front room on the 2nd floor) all in one big home. Parking can be an issue and you might bump into other people. If privacy is more important than ocean front. You may want to look further.

We cooked simple meals at home most nights. There is a great butcher (VJ's) close by. The kitchen is just ok. I could not find pot holders etc. There are not a lot of pots and pans or dishes. The outside grill is showing it's age. But, when you sit down to eat on the deck. The view is perfect (PERFECT!)

Dennis and his crew are super responsive. We had no issues. But, I get the feeling they would move heaven and earth to make you happy.

An after thought: We were looking for one bed room one bath locations on the North Shore and found Dennis' place. If two couples travelling together rented the upstairs and downstairs - It would be awesome and take away the disadvantage of having strangers in the unit below.

I hope find your dream rental. I pretty much did at Dennis'.
