The Hale Le'a Le'a, which in Hawaiian means the “HOUSE OF GREAT PLEASURE”, resides beach front on the famous shoreline of North Shore Oahu.
Just steps to the beach and you'll be digging your toes in the sand and hopefully see a Honu or two, (our resident Hawaiian green sea turtles), bobbing in the the ocean. Our beach is serene and semi private, but if you prefer we are also close to all the world renowned North Shore beaches, such as Ali'i Beach, Chuns, Lonis, Waiamea Bay, Banzai Pipeline and Sunset beach.
Waialua is a wonderful and very centralized location. Just 2 miles to historic Haleiwa town. There you will find many unique boutique and surf shops. There is a wide array of restaurants, ranging from fresh local seafood, Thai food, Mexican food, “Kua Aina” for burgers and sandwiches, the food trucks that specialize in shrimp plates and don't forget Matsumoto's for a shaved ice.
The activities available are endless, from Scuba dives, deep sea fishing, Shark adventure tours, whale watching (seasonal), or rent surf boards, paddle boards, jet skis, kayaks or snorkel gear.
And a short drive to Dillingham Airport offers skydives, ultra light flight tours and glider rides. Mokuleia Beach, the Polo fields, horseback riding and Kaena Point are also nearby. And don't forget the Dole Pineapple Plantation, Waimea falls, the Polynesian Cultural Center and Turtle Bay.
Easy day trips to Pearl Harbor Memorial, Diamond Head Crater, Waikiki, Makapu'u Lighthouse, and shopping at the swap meet at Aloha Stadium.
And of coarse remember to just relax at Hale Le'a Le'a, the “HOUSE OF GREAT PLEASURE”. Listen to the sound of the surf and the trade winds blowing through the coconut palms with a Mai Tai in hand at sunset.

My wife and I decided to go to Oahu for a second honeymoon. this was the perfect place to stay, the views were incredible. The owners were out of town during our stay, and Jeanne was So helpful in giving us ideas of where to do the best snorkeling and hikes. We would not have changed a single thing about this stay it was Perfect.
You'll notice from the listing that there is very little mentioned about the unit itself, almost everything described is about the fabulous locale. The truth is that this property has the potential to be all that you could want as the "House of Great Pleasure" to return to after taking in beautiful beaches, yummy food trucks and luscious north coast. Unfortunately, it falls short.
The unit is well worn and in need of everyday repairs. The impression we got was it hasn't been updated in many years. This includes stained and worn kitchen and bathroom surfaces; the metal kitchen sink which is water stained beyond cleaning; power window shades that don't work; an improvised patio screen door latch made from a peg board hook; drywall ceiling repairs which were never completed to match the rest of the stucco ceiling. The elliptical is worn also and has no arm handles.
We cleaned the kitchen floor, stove, microwave and toaster oven before using them. The carpets in the living area are stained and need a good cleaning. The massive patio doors were hazy from salt air and we cleaned them to see the beautiful ocean view from inside.
It appeared to us that minimal investment and maintenance has been made to this unit and it will ultimately require a big re-do.
In terms of responsiveness, Joanne was great. She proactively contacted us before we landed and was very clear on her directions about accessing the unit. Because it was Thanksgiving day when we arrived we actually didn't meet her face-to-face.
If you're looking for a pristine unit, then you might not like this unit. If you are ok with these things the ocean view and access are delightful.
Unfortunately we wouldn't recommend this venue to friends.
Everything was like promised. The view is spectacular. I'll never forget my sunrise beach walk. The appartment is amazing! Service was awesome, thanks!!!
This is the second time that my wife and I have stayed in this beach house, and it is our favorite place to vacation. We just returned from a week there to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary, and it was a very relaxing, romantic stay. The house is even better than how it is described in the listing. It is right on the beach, and the beach is so quiet. There were many times that we had the whole beach to ourselves for hours at a time. Even on the weekend the nearest people to where we were laying on the beach were over 50 feet from us. We saw turtles swimming right in front of the house every single day we were there. The view of the ocean and the sound of the waves are always with you, even when you're in bed. It really is a little slice of heaven!
Dennis (the owner) was very responsive to our emails in booking and with a few special requests before we got there. He was out of town while we were there, and JoAnn (the housekeeper) took great care of us from check-in to check-out and beyond. I accidentally locked the keys in the house one day, and JoAnn was there within minutes to get us back in. When we got home I realized I left one of my favorite shirts there and she mailed it back to me. She really went above and beyond!
Just for perspective, the house is in Waialua, about a 40 minute drive from the airport (more in rush hour), and about an hour from Waikiki. It's 5 minutes from Hale'iwa where you'll find a grocery store, tons of cute shops, and lots of yummy local restaurants. It's 10 minutes from Turtle Beach and 15 minutes from Dillingham Airfield and Ka'ena Point trailhead. A car is a must.
If you want busyness, crowds, and lots of activity, stay in Waikiki. If you want a quiet, slow-paced town with a nearly-private beach, great restaurants (try the new Beachhouse!), and a romantic getaway, stay here!
The unit is very nicely appointed. The bed is comfortable and the living room area is huge. Nice balcony looking over the ocean. Steps from the typical small beach that goes around Oahu. Very easy drive to the cute walkable community of Haleiwa, which has stores and restaurants. Waialua doesn't have much, but we knew that.
What we didn't know was the parking there is very tight....rent a small car! This unit comes with a driveway spot, but the driveway also has the owner's huge truck. We were glad our rental car had back-up sensors as that was needed exiting the drive. We were visiting with friends late Sunday night and the other renter parked on the street where it made it impossible to get through so we had to park further down the street. Everything worked out okay, but we weren't sure about the area where we parked.
The bedroom is a fish bowl, no window coverings and you could see in from the next door back yard. Couldn't see the mattress, but as far back as the head board. Although we don't have window coverings in our living room at home, it was a little uncomfortable with it being the bedroom. We couldn't figure out how to open the windows, so it was a little warm in there as well. The shower head took us awhile to figure out, which was a first for us. The bathroom has the wall dispensers of shampoo, conditioner and body soap, which was a nice surprise.
There is a balcony light that shines on the beach very brightly. My husband finally found a timer that turned it off. I think there could have been some basic instructions on how to do certain things there. The windows in the dining room were also impossible to open. It probably could use a little TLC.
Overall, I still think this is one of the better rental units in the Waialua area. But i wish we knew some things before we got there.
If you are looking for a home away from home, with a million dollar view, this is where you want to be.
this was our first stay in Hawaii, and I will be back, the staff is friendly and accommodating. The house is very clean and quiet and steps away from the beach. I spent hours swimming out front with the occasional sea turtle stopping in to say hi.
There is a full kitchen, a huge bathroom. The bedroom is also large with a view that words can't describe, the sounds of the ocean at night were extremely relaxing, I haven't slept that well in years.
I've stayed in other rental units, but found this is the first that made me feel like I belonged there, not just another guest, this home embodies the "aloha" spirit.
I would recommend this property, and as for me, I'm already planning my return trip next year ;)
