About the property

4 Bedroom, 4 Bath Beach Home W/ Wrap Around Porches; Ada Wheelchair Lift

Take a step back to a simpler time when family and friends gathered on the porch to catch the cool evening breeze and the children caught fireflies instead of 'the enemy'

on the hottest new game on an newest electronic device.

That is what the Seagrass Beach Cottage and Belle Fontaine Pointe beach offers you. Located on Mississippi's only natural beach, with its white sands, calm water, abundant wildlife and breathtaking sunsets, this small peninsula in as inviting as it is beautiful.

This 4 bedroom, 4 bath cottage style home has the classic details of a house built 100 years ago--lap siding, exposed rafter tails and long wide porches. Yet with all the amenities you would expect in a newly built residence: Direct TV, WIFI internet, 2 flat screen TVs, central heat and air, 2 gas tankless hot water heaters, for continuous hot water, washer and dryer to name a few.

Concrete drives encircle a large fountain with a fountainhead of 3 dancing Sandhill Cranes. Wrap around porches provide plenty of outdoor entertaining space with its highlight being the almost 80' long and 12' wide covered back porch overlooking the beach. With it many seating choices, including rocking chairs, settees, patio dining table and 6 chairs and a bar with 4 stools at the bar that surrounds a fully equipped outdoor kitchen. It has an undercounter refrigerator, bar sink, gas cooktop and barbeque grill. So boil your shrimp, grill your steaks, cook your veggies and grab a cold beverage, then sit back and enjoy the food, drink, company and views!

The Seagrass Beach Cottage has a split floor plan, with the living dining room combination in the center and the bedrooms on either side of the house. The living room features a faux fireplace with an electric log and an antique pine mantle, with soaring ceilings, horizontal slat wood walls, and natural finished heart pine flooring. On the north side of the living room is the front entrance graced with a pair of New Orleans style old French doors. At the South end of the room is the dining area with a reclaimed beaded board ceiling, a farm style dining table with 10 ladder back chairs and a spectacular view of the beach and water through the 2 pairs of glass French doors, which open onto the cover back porch.

Above the dining area is a lounge area reached by a wrought iron spiral staircase. This loft is called the Pelican Perch and has a queen size sleeper sofa and it opens onto a sunbathing deck through 2 pairs of glass French doors. What awaits you is 2 chaise lounge chairs and a panoramic view the Gulf, Horn Island and to the west, Biloxi and the Casinos! And the most gorgeous sunsets every night which rival the famed Key West sunsets.

On its west side the dining room opens up to the kitchen. With it light grey chalk painted cabinets, maple butcher block countertops, 1950s era single drain board sink with open shelving above made of reclaimed beaded board siding and boasting a stemware rack, faded grey striped ceramic floor tile and authentic Hoosier Cabinet its reminds one of the good old days and grandma baking. But the stainless Frigidaire Gallery line of appliances, a dishwasher, side by side refrigerator and 5 burner gas range with oven, this is definitely not Grandma's kitchen.

On the west side of the home are two more bedrooms and baths. The one on the South or beach side, has a queen and single bed, glass doors with a beach view opening onto the back porch, and a door into the guest bath. This bathroom, as do all of the others, has a custom shower surround, tile flooring and vanities with granite tops. It is a tub shower combination, as it the 4th bathroom.

And the last bedroom, called the Kid's room has 3 twin beds and a light hearted theme with original artwork on the wall clad walls. It has a private bathroom with multi colored ceramic tile floor and a custom glass tile shower surround and yellow walls creating a fun and lighthearted atmosphere.

And speaking of the young ones, the property has an out door play area with a deck and tree house combination. It features a slide, swings and a climbing wall, outdoor fun at its best.

The Seagrass Beach Cottage, Belle Fontaine Pointe and the Mississippi Gulf Coast has much to offer the vacationer; there is truly something for everyone.

The Seagrass Beach Cottage is a wonderful location for a small beach wedding or family reunion. Please inquiry about our Event rates.

About Marsha

We, the owners of the Seagrass Beach Cottage, designed, built and decorated it with our guest's needs in mind. Already having a property on VRBO, the Sandhill Beachhouse, we saw a need for a larger vacation home, as we had to turn away many, many guests with larger groups than the 8 the Sandhill Beachhouse would accommodate.

As we have neared retirement age, we wanted something both fun and rewarding to do. And we have found it renting our beach houses on VRBO! As we only live about 30 minutes away in Biloxi, Mike and I are very active in managing and maintaining our beach houses. We enjoy puttering around in the yard, cleaning the fountain or even fixing a doorknob, but most especially, we love taking breaks on the back porch and enjoying the sights and sounds of the beach.

Marsha purchased this house in 2015

Why Marsha chose Mississippi

One Sunday afternoon, we decided to find "the only natural beach in Mississippi" that our daughter's friend had told her about. With just the vaguest of directions, we managed to find Belle Fontaine Beach and as we came around the curve on Belle Fontaine Drive, the shore and the water was breathtaking! I turned to Mike and said, "This is where I am going to live!" As this was well before Hurricane Katrina, the water was on the left and the St. Andrews water tower, which was shaped like a light house, was on the right. The lighthouse/water tower was destroyed by the storm, but its memory lives on in many of the residents on Belle Fontaine Pointe. In a bit of serendipity, we were attending an estate auction and bid on a painting that we liked. What we did not realize while bidding, as we were pretty far away from it, was that it was a rendering of the St. Andrews water tower, a.k.a., the Belle Fontaine lighthouse! It now hangs on the dining room wall at the Seagrass Beach Cottage and when I look at it, it brings back that wonderful day that Mike and I found Belle Fontaine beach. Although it was lost in Hurricane Katrina, as well as our first beach house, our joy and love of Belle Fontaine Pointe remains.

The Seagrass Cottage was perfect for our extended family. Lots of room and comfortable beds too.

The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and the large table was perfect for our family meals.

A bright and charming beach cottage with lots of areas to relax and play.

A great vacation home for a large family!!

  • 5 of 5

Our immediate family just returned from a 6 day stay at the Seagrass Beach Cottage. I don't know of anything that could have made our stay there any better. Everything was as advertised. I can't think of anything that we needed that was not included. Anytime we needed something it was there in the house. We had ages from 18 months to 69 yrs old. The elevator was certainly a bonus when we were moving our luggage in and out. It worked great!

I would certainly recommend this house to anyone looking for a vacation home for a large family in Ocean Springs. Most of our family went crabbing in the nearby bayou. It was a real experience. We caught many blue crabs and it certainly was a new experience. I think our favorite place was sitting on the back deck watching the pelicans come and go all day long. And some of us even saw dolphins swimming by at different times. Overall, a great time!!!

Serious WOW factor with this home

  • 5 of 5

To say this home is nice is a total understatement. We have stayed at beach homes before that I thought were pretty- this home is a place that I would have created myself. It feels like home as soon as you walk in. Marsha is wonderful. Very quick to respond to my messages. The kitchen is FULLY stocked. The private beach is wonderful and super clean. The kids were able to go to the beach by themselves because it's close enough to see them clearly and they can hear you from the back porch. I could type about this rental for days. If you need a getaway give this home a try. Downtown Ocean Springs is only about a 15 min drive away. We love this super quant town too. Great food, shopping and museums. We had a blast!! Thanks Marsha for a wonderful Spring Break getaway!

It's a 5 star for sure- I would give it 10 stars if that existed !!!

This house was just amazing, we had 7 people in our party, from ages 48 plus, all the way to 89 years old. Which the elevator was perfect for her. So relaxing, quiet and peaceful. Everything you need for an enjoyable week off. A little cool for the water, but walking on the beach was relaxing. I would recommend this property to anyone.

Thanks So Much Marsha!!
