This Cabin has brought our family many wonderful memories. Their is so much to enjoy year round in the area. I will list a few of many of my recommendations.
Lake Alpine is a beautiful lake about 45 min away. It is our favorite lake to Kayak. They have kayack rentals there. There are also many small lakes close by, White Pines Lake, is just a five min drive, it is also good for kayaking, picnicking and lounging on the beach for the day.
We belong to Blue Lake Springs Rec Center, and Fly in Acres Lake. The Rec Center has a pool, park, gym, snack shack and many family/kids amenities. We enjoy the movies under the stars in the summer. The activities calendar can be found on their website.
Big Trees State Park ( just a few miles up Highway 4 ) Big Trees has hiking trails, giant Sequoias, access to the the Stanislaus river. And a snow shoe tour (with warming hut and coco) in the winter.
If you are into boating and water sports “New Melones" is the closest big lake.
If you love wine you must visit Murphys! It is a darling town filled with tasting rooms, dining and shoping. Murphys also holds great summer concerts at Ironstone vineyards.
Old Town Columbia, is another great place to visit. Along with the morning and Mercer caverns.
As for meals, there is a grocery store close by called Big Trees Market. If you are in the mood for dining out, taking home or delivery. There is a variety of restaurants in town. Our personal favorite is Sarafina’s. Also keep in mind you can refill your growler at the local Snowshoe Brewery.
In the winter, if we are not skiing at bear Vally. Our favorite things to do is just play in the snow! This is when its really great to be on a court, away from traffic. Everyone has a blast without going anywhere! Feel free to use our sleds.
We have family members that enjoy dirt bike riding, off roading, hunting small game, and recreational shooting. The Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods store has fire trail maps and a very knowledgeable staff to get you headed in the right direction.
If you are a golfer, Forest Meadows is located in Murphy’s and open to the public.
Clearly, there is plenty to do in the area. However, sometime's doing nothing makes for the best moments of all! We hope this helps you plan your trip.
