Casa Relox is a family/pet friendly home. Located at the entrance of the vibrant San Miguel Mercado de Artesanias (Artisan Market) it is perfect for large family gatherings. One of the most affordable homes that can accommodate large parties in the historic Centro location, Casa Relox is within walking distance of everything there is to see and do in San Miguel: great restaurants, bars, clubs and cafes, gyms and spas, exhibits and galleries, cultural centers and museums. We are one block from the Biblioteca Pública (Public Library) that serves as a community center, lecture hall and performing arts venue and just 3 level blocks from the splendid Jardin Principal (the main square in the historic center) where you'll find daily/nightly music, art events and various local food vendor carts.
Steps from our front door you can stroll down the colorful Mercado de Artesanias to admire hand-crafted items. Here you can purchase paper-mache, tin lanterns, ceramics, blown glass, silver jewelry, embroidered textiles and hand woven rugs, as well as fruits and vegetables in the city's main market. The merchandise in the Mercado is more authentic and cheaper that that found around the main square. While bustling in the day, the Mercado is tranquil after sunset.
In addition to Casa Relox's superb location, you will also appreciate its casual charm. To support the community, all art in the house was created by local street artists and the wooden furnishings were crafted by local woodworkers in their family shops.
Note: Casa Relox has stairs! All stairways are about 12-14 steps. Our house can accommodate 13, if people are willing to share beds.
On the ground floor living room, enjoy watching the large flat screen TV. A large wardrobe for clothing, a 1/2 bath, two double futons and a warm fireplace also make this room especially popular with teens and young adults. It transforms into a sleeping area that can accommodate up to 4 people willing to share the double futons.
On the second floor, in addition to a dining room with a fireplace and a well equipped, brightly tiled kitchen, there are two bedrooms. Bedroom #1 can sleep 3. It has a queen-sized bed, a twin bed and a fireplace. Bedroom #2 can sleep 2. It has a queen-sized bed. Both share the full bath.
On the third floor is the spacious master bedroom which sleeps 2. It has a flat screen TV, a full bath and a walk-in closet. Outside the master suite is a terrace with a barbecue and small table and chairs. Three steps up from the terrace is a cozy bedroom that can sleep 2. It has a bunk bed and computer desk.
On the roof level is a larger terrace with a palapa and comfortable sitting area. Both terraces are perfect for relaxing with your favorite book and beverage. Sit outside and enjoy lovely views of sunsets behind the grand La Parroquia, the tallest building in the city, inspired by Gaudi's Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.
This old world house has been modernized with high speed wireless internet and a pressurized water purification/treatment system. Bedrooms are equipped with ceiling fans for the hot summer days and fireplaces or heaters for the cooler nights. Sheets are 100% cotton with high thread counts and duvets are soft and sumptuous. All bedrooms have thick double curtains to keep the rooms dark should you want to sleep in. The kitchen includes every necessary appliance--a fridge, gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and blender--and is stocked with dishes, glasses, cutlery, and all necessary utensils. There is also a washer/dryer unit on the property.
Professional Management is included. Upon your arrival, someone will be at the house waiting for you, hand you keys and show you around. Management will also be on call 24 hours should you have an emergency.
Greeting hours are from 12 to 5 pm Monday-Fridays and Saturdays 11 am to 1 pm.
Arrivals after the hours above or on Sundays or holidays are subject to a concierge fee of 200 pesos. ($13 USD)
If the greeter is kept waiting for more than hour without a phone call, the fee is an additional 100 pesos. ($6.50 USD)
There are no concierge fees for arrivals during greeting hours. There are also no concierge fees for departures.
The house is cleaned before arrivals and after departures.
Please note if you are driving: Casa Relox does not have a garage. There is a parking lot around the corner on Palmar, but they do not always have availability. Especially on festival weekends we recommend leaving your car in a parking lot in the outskirts.
Taxis are extremely inexpensive and reliable. They charge only 50-80 pesos (approx. $2.25 - $3.75 USD) to go from the house to anywhere in town. Additionally, San Miguel has its own pleasant and reliable bus system that serves the entire town, including out-of-the-way areas like Gigante and the bus depot.
Come to Casa Relox and see why San Miguel de Allende was named a UNESCO World Heritage City in 2008 and was voted 'Best City in the World' by Conde Nast Travel in 2013!
Please EMAIL to check availability. We check this email at least once per day and would love to hear from you!
I grew up in rural New Mexico, where a childhood full of outdoor adventure launched my appreciation for wildlife and nature. My early memories include tubing on the muddy Animas River, climbing rattlesnake infested cliffs and building elaborate forts with secret leafy entrances. As a young woman, I moved to San Francisco where I discovered a fantastic array of street art, theater, dance and music. Upon my first visit to San Miguel de Allende I fell in love. This unique town is a perfect merge of the exquisite beauty of the high desert and the wonderful creativity of humanity. While establishing a home for myself I also had the goal of creating a space welcoming to families and large groups. I want to share the lovely festivity of San Miguel de Allende. This magical town should be appreciated by all!
PS My profile picture is one I took of a couple of tulle elk dancing in California. I thought you would enjoy it more than a picture of me!

Everthing we expected and more. A big enough place for a big family or a group of friends.
We were 2 adult couples in SMA for the first time, and felt Casa Relox met all our needs and desires with flying colors! It is very well maintained and everything , including water pressure, was working without a flaw. The décor is tasteful, Mexican without feeling like you are in a cheesy Mex-American restaurant. The beds were particularly comfortable, and the kitchen is well equipped. We made good use of the multiple fireplaces, as it was chilly morning and evening (mid-March). There is street noise until later evening but overnights are quiet- the neighborhood roosters will get you up and going in the morning! Terrific location, with avenue of artisans right out the front door and easy walk to the Jardin and all major sights.
Relox 91 was a great place to stay. We were only 5 minutes away from the Jardin and right near all of the action. The Mercado which is the market is walking distance away from our location which gives you access to shopping and food. The house overall was a little small but this is a city where you explore rather than sit around. I would recommend booking this place if you have a group of 5 or below.
This was amazingly easy, and perfect for our needs! Great place, less than 5 minute walk to any downtown area, literally right on top of the craftsman's market. Could not have done better in San Miguel. Highly recommended!
We enjoy every step of the process and the stay at this place: the owner very helpful with providing all the information we needed, the property manager on time at our arrival, the house had all the amenities and perfect location. We were at walking distance of all mayor attractions. We parked our car around the corner at a parking lot during our stay for $200 pesos for each 24 hours. There are two tiny family owned convenient grocery stores across the street which were very convenient for all basic food stuff. San Miguel de Allende is a magic lovely place and Casa Relox was a perfect fit for us.
I stayed at Casa Reloj for a month and it was wonderful. The location could not have been better--an easy walk to the Jardin, and really everywhere. The house itself was fully functional and there were no problems. Martha, the contact person, was tremendous. Helped in any way she could. I would certainly stay there again.
