A cosy, highland cottage accommodating one or two families in blissful setting.
The cottage is owned by five siblings - the Emersons - all of whom come and stay here up to three or more times a year. At the beginning of the season, in late March, all or some of us come up for a few days of intensive maintenance and repair work. At the end of the season, in early November, we return to assess what we need to do in the following spring and do a thorough tidy in preparation for closing the house down for the winter. Liddesdale is much loved by all of us and co-ownership focuses and binds us together as a family.

Why Owner chose Fort William
Liddesdale has always been special. Its unspoilt nature and the beauty of its surrounds, its exceptional sunsets on silver water occurring late at night in the summer, make it a place to restore inner peace and good health.
What makes this Cottage unique
Alongside the views, the cosiness and the charm of yesteryear, there are not infrequently stags in the garden - one or two of whom seem almost tame. We have a pet stag called Derek who stops there for weeks on end sometimes.

The cottage right next to the lock is amazing and quiet .
It was very easy and straight forward.
Authentic Lovely Cottage
We had a great week in a lovely cottage next to a fantastic loch in Highlands. I strongly recommend the cottage to anyone looking for amazing landscape, very quite area and fishing. Owner of the cottage is very helpful and quick to respond when we had small problems due to cold weather.
We are delighted to have had guests this year who 'get' the cottage, which is unusual mainly because you feel transported back in time - and indeed little has changed in recent years except putting in electricity. There is no television or radio available although we do now have wi-fi so you can have a line of communication to the world. There is no central heating so you rely on the woodburner in the sitting room and the Rayburn in the kitchen for heat, in the main. It is set in an idyllic spot right on the loch with several acres of land around and it is a restorative holiday destination to quite a few people.
Real coothy cottage!!! Full of family memories built into the fibre of the cottage
Overall we had a fantastic stay at keepers cottage!! If you are looking for a real authentic place to stay this is it...
Comfortable, all the things you need especially in the kitchen... you step back time.... lots of quirky artefacts... especially the clock which we discovered was made by one of the family- I dubbed it “ when the Cheshire Cat meets Captain Hook “
Really tranquil setting but be prepared for rain ☔️
Charming wee place.
Lovely, calm, unfussy, cozy.
Schönes altes Cottage in sehr ruhiger Lage
Für Leute die Ruhe brauchen sehr zu empfehlen.
Zum Wander und Angeln Top.
Thank you for this charming review. You are most welcome to come again. Have a lovely summer to come.
Een charmant, eenvoudig cottage op een ongelooflijk mooie plek!
Niet luxe, maar zeer sfeervol en heerlijk rustig. Herten in de tuin en ottertjes in de baai, hemels!
Liddesdale is in the centre of an exceptionally beautiful highland area. There are ancient places, wonderful walks and also local activities in season to enjoy. Fishing and hiking are obviously big favourites around here but the Local Information Centre in Strontian will offer a great deal of other information about places to visit and things to do.
